      the silliness of treating the word Samurai exclusively as a singular noun. The Last Samurai refers to Katsumoto's whole army practically.

    • @TheRealmDrifter
      @TheRealmDrifter Před rokem +9

      @@drlca6601 The movie is available in multiple other languages, and they almost always translate the title as singular, not plural (which is probably a mistake. It's just funny that so many countries mistranslated it if that's the case). Also the poster for the movie says "TOM CRUISE" in the same large font size as "THE LAST SAMURAI" right underneath, so I don't blame people for thinking Tom Cruise is the Last Samurai when the poster looks like that. The marketing seems to have done this deliberately (most of the posters were just Cruise in armor and the title). But yeah, I think it would make more sense and be cooler if the title referred to Katsumoto's whole army instead of just one man.

He is the last Samurai, he is the ultimate warrior and Chieftain of his clan, he is intelligent, disciplined and benevolent, he rescues Tom Cruise, from the battlefield and from his inner demons, and (Spoiler alert) he is the one who makes the ultimate sacrifice for his way of life. When I was young, I had nightmares, nightmares from shame, nightmares from being ostracized from a group
    Now that I have a family, my nightmares changed, it turned to not being able to provide for my family, and lacking the ability to keep them safe
    I had to drown it with alcohol😊

    From 1:43 to 1:49 it transcends cultures and goes to the same common thing that unites all soldiers...the horrors and madness that they have seen and that at times man can descend to levels no better than the most vicious of animals. And the survivors hoping to make sense of it all and to hopefully live up to the fact that they survived such hell.
