i prefer a freshwater planted tank to a reef tank, just looks a lot nicer to me, like a well tended garden
I’ve seen this video several times already, but I keep getting drawn back to watch it. I give it a thumbs up every time I see it! This aquarium is exceptional, plus the soft background music makes it easy on eyes and ears. Thank you for sharing this masterpiece of a video!
Really beautiful and impressive skills to be able to use so much light in such a successful way. Way beyond my pay grade. Thanks for sharing this and amazing filming as always here.
Another beautifully choreographed video production, Alex. Your videos are calmingly informative and visually appetizing. Thank you.
Kris will be stopping by in the comments in the first few days of upload. Ask him questions and he might just answer!

Wow. Just gorgeous. Thanks for sharing!!
Really gorgeous collection of plants
Back again, my favorite planted tank...ever
Amazing!! This is so therapeutic for me
What a quality video , the production is professional. Thanks for sharing 👍
This style of tank is by far my favourite type! Wide range of colors and contrasts, different leaf texture, a little untamed like it would be out in nature, and more focus on the plants rather than the hardscape like a lot of the new style planted tanks today. I'd love to see more of these! :)
Greatings from Singapore ..im glad i found this awesome video beautiful set up great job.
Wow. Love this channel and subscibed. Thnx for uploading all the vids Alex. Amazing. Now im going to start watching all the vids from the first upload 👍greetings from The Netherlands
How beautiful! What an eye candy.
This may well be my favorite planted tank video, ever. Thank you + Chris for this video.

THE best planted tank I've seen. Hands down.
Loll .. Chris's tank vs the preview is like a Land Rover vs Golf Cart ..!😂
Beautiful
Nice aquarium
300 par at the substrate!!!!! Good gawd man!!!!! That's amazing!!!! A d it's a beautiful tank...
beautiful ❤
That PAR is fucking insane.. he knows whats he's doing.
Amazing
8 of the species in my tank were collected from my town’s reservoir, including Eleocharis acicularis.
Very nice! I also collect many of my plants from the wild. I am down in S. Fla. What area of the country are you located that you are able to find so many nice plants?
Kris you are an amazing aquascaper 😍
Kris knows how to grow plants better than anyone!
Tank Tested I need to learn a few things from him
Thanks Proteus, that's really kind!
Thank to this tank I love super highlight now
damn beautiful tanks.
I love this channel ...and cool name
How do you control the drop of PH when you use CO2?
I am not able to believe that such a stunning scape can exist. I can only dream of such a tank. Thanks, Alex for bringing me such joy! Can you also shed some light on the substrate used, filters, fertilizers and the co2 levels? Also since Kris is such an experienced aquascaper it would be really nice if he can share some tips on growing moss.
The substrate is ADA Amazonia. Filters are an Eheim 2216 and Fluval FX6, which is a lot of filtration for a 75G. For ferts, I use a dry mix, dosed 3X weekly of KNO3, KH2PO4, and K2SO4. For micros, I use a combination of Seachem Flourish (and Iron) and Brightwell Aquatic FlorinMulti. For CO2, I drop the pH about 1 degree, and adjust based on how the plants/fish look. Most mosses that are in the hobby are quite easy to grow -- the only thing to keep in mind is that mosses tend to do better in slightly cooler temperatures. Otherwise, trim them aggressively to shape them and force them to attach to your hardscape.
Thank you so much Kris. I do see that a lot of times my moss seems to be covered in brown or green algae even though i have enough flow and filtration in the tank. Can you let me know what could cause this?
Brown algae is usually indicative of a new tank setup, or excess silicates. Green algae is likely a nutrient imbalance. This can be caused by a number of reasons, from dosing unbalanced amounts of nutrients, to having too much (or too long) of lighting. I generally only light my tanks for 8 hours per day. I know what amounts of N/P/K are in my water supply, and supplement those. Unless you're starting with R/O water, don't assume that you're starting from zero when dosing. I max out my CO2 as much as the fish will allow, and use things like surface skimmers to help oxygen exchange, and keep the surface clear. Make sure you clean your filters at least monthly, and weekly water changes.
One last thing, can you tell me how to make the ferts you use? What proportions do I need to add them in?
@@heisenberg7086 this will depend on your water supply. For me, I mix approximately 10-4-1 of kno3-kh2po4-k2so4. But again, depending on what you start with in your water, you would adjust those.
Sensacional esse aquario. Amigo vc poderia me ajudar em uma dica para que as plantas fiquem mais vermelhas. Eu não consigo. Obrigado pela atenção.
What is the temperature of ur tank? & how often do u change water?
May I please ask where do you buy all these plant. Thank you
What water u use for it
I live in the area, where do you find these plants?
I have a question, how did Kris clean the plants he found in the wild from algae, possible fish diseases and other infectants without damaging the plant itself prior to installing them into the aquarium?
Thanks
More more !!!
I would be curious to know how his rotala is still straight. I run a very high-light tan high tech tank like this and my Rotala literally turns in to a creeping plant. I'm probably at ~200par at the substrate.
How hard is the water in this aquarium? GH=?
Beautiful tank! Could you please give more details of your ferts regime? I guess you add iron as well, how much? Thanks in advance for your help!
Ummm, high co2 and light output is a slippery slope with algae, on this tank's level an algae outbreak can crash this tank quick, it takes a lot of skill to pull this off, plenty have tried and failed...
Great tank and thanks for sharing. Two questions, first since Build My LED is no longer in business, do you have any suggestion on a similar led that is commercially available and can provide same PAR? Can you give the tank dimensions?
Ali rahi it's a standard 75g aqaurium. Roughly 48x18x18. In the US market, I've liked the Gen4 Ecotech Marine Radion lights for high output applications and color. You can also build your own lights, and there are new makers and models of lights coming out all the time, so it's hard for me to keep up with the latest "best" one.
i feel really enjoy the voice :)
Just went to check out buildmyled but they are shut down.... Do you know of an alternative?
Hi Kris... how do you keep it so algae free with 300 PAR at the substrate? I'm losing control with just 120-150 PAR at the substrate. Could you tell us know if its just the single Eheim 2217 and what is your CO2 injection rate? My tank is full of bubbles compared to yours.
Whats his phosphate and Nitrate weekly dosing regime ?
gorgeous tank, name of fish on 2:37?
What's the Tank dimension ?
Which plants are used here plz plz plz tell me
In no particular order, and probably missing some:
Anubias nana petite
Hygro pinnatifida
Ludwigia x lacustris
Echinodorus 'Purple Knight'
Lindernia dubia
Myriophyllum 'Guyana'
Rotala macrandra
Limnophila aromatica 'Mini'
Didiplis diandra
Staurogyne repens (Porto Velho to the left)
Ludwigia polycarpa
Rotala rotundifolia 'Green' -- this one creeps under high light
Ludwigia polycarpa
Bacopa caroliniana
Proserpinaca palustris 'Maryland'
Rorippa aquatica
Ludwigia repens - collected in Florida, creeps
Hygrophila odora
Juncus sp.
Clinopodium brownei
Rorippa aquatica
Eriocaulon 'Vietnam'
Hello is there any way I can purchase Limnophila Aromatica Mini from the aquarist featured on this video. Please let me know. Thank you
what substrate is Kris using? looks ADA soil capped with sand?
and holy crap 300 PAR
It's ADA Amazonia in the back, with pool filter sand in front. The sand is there because I keep Moosehead loaches which sandsift for food. Really cool fish.
another question, which BML are the ones youre using? Looking into DIY'ing something similiar to BML's
They're the high powered ones, I think that was called XL, or something like that. Two are custom colors to try to match Geisseman midday bulbs. The other is their Dutch style.
absolutely stunning but how are the fish not blind lol?
Intrested in your co2 output and dosing regimen, thanks!
TDashJ_Aquariums Tyrone Jones Co2 is about 1 degree drop of pH. For dosing, I use dry ferts for macros, dosing 3x weekly. I use Flourish, flourish iron, and Brightwell Aquatics trace 2x weekly. The amounts are adjusted based on how the plants look. Usually more macros early in the week, tapering down, and then a weekly water change.
Kris Weinhold hi, could you tell us more about the dry ferts. Esp iron. I've been looking for a good dry iron fert but iron fe2 chelates turn fe3 very fast and become unusable. Waiting for your recommendations.
I only dose macros dry. So kno3, kh2po4, and kso4. I used Seachem flourish iron for that.
Kris Weinhold thanks!
You’re in EI levels or personalised?
Which substrate do u use
Khidananda Ngairangbam ADA Amazonia or similar aquasoils
6:39 that is not Proserpinaca palustris
If I do that 1000 PAR light I would export algae to the UK out of my tank lol
If you would have add more hairy grass in it, then was perfect fit 👌
Wow 300 par is lot. Even for a SPS reef tank that is high. I wonder how much more trimming he has to do.
Light?
Here's a suggestion: dedicate a few videos to reef aquascapes, perhaps the most neglected aquascapes.
holy shit that red bacopa caroliniana
❤❤❤❤
This natgeo style quality
Ok. Im watching this thinking, waht is that plant? it looks like pinnatifida, but theres no way it can be cuz of how big it is, then it says thats what it is. HOW? How do you get it so huge?
How tall this tank is ??
21 inches, it’s a standard 75 gallon tank!
Чудесный аквариум , за что дизлайки ставят непонятно
I think its nicer cause if u don't get a marine reef set up right it can look scruffy and washed out
I want to see his CO2 setup. That high level of light requires a lot of CO2.
Not even close to coral. Yet still very beautiful.
jezuz!!....
Yep, that's alot of par . You could grow medicinal in that tank. $$$$$$
Isn't it true that when the world was first uninhabitable by life above ground that corals became land plants after the huge continental divide took place? Some - time before our grandparents showed up and lived in caves? ....Ok, ok... Great Great Grandparents!
Way to much work for your average planted tank fish keeper.
I on the other hand would love to try something like this.
Nope it's not. Love both freshwater and saltwater aquarium, though. But saltwater tank is more diverse and colorful than freshwater tank.
