I'm not a fan of Islam, but he has a point to get a black belt in Jiu jitsu it takes approximately 8-12 years of consistent training. Just for the white belt you need to train 1-2 years.

I don’t think it’ll be much of an embarrassment tho. Charles Oliveira got submitted by Islam Makhachev and nobody questions Charles’s jiujitsu. If anything, it’ll be more embarrassing for Glover that it would be for Alex.
@@robinmorales5365 Because Charles has the most stoppages in UFC history. He's displayed that his JiuJitsu is elite. Alex has no submission wins. And his ground game has looked subpar in the past. So Alex is forced to look good on the ground in the next fight if the fight goes to the ground (which we know is going to happen).

Anyone who trains bjj 3 times a week will get a black bel in like 8 years... it doesnt mean they would outgrapple a professional fighter who is a brown belt for example... it means he knows the moves, studied the art, is respectful, has experience and so on... if the rule was you need to submit a professional to become a black belt almost no one would have one....
8 years? Seriously? Been training more than that for 7 1/2 years and am still a 2 stripe blue belt. I’ve given up on promoting. I just train and hope for the best at this point.

@@netopierro10 the “I’ve been training more than that” is the key indicator that I’m NOT the one time a week guy. I work 50-60 hours a week, and have 3 of my 4 kids training 2-3 times a week along with my wife, who also gets 3 more sessions than me a week because she does women’s/gi/nogi back to back on Saturdays. She’s a one stripe blue belt and has only been training a few months less than me. Our whole lives are centered around making time for the gym 4-6 days of the week. This includes winter and summer camps we attend.
Granted, my wife and I are in our 40s. I’m a retired soldier so I have accumulated a lot of injuries. I take appropriate amounts of time to heal from injuries like everyone else does.
I don’t know what I’m doing and when I ask what I need to do, all I get is “just keep showing up”…
@@majorleagueminuteman1344 Buddy, there is absolutely no way you have trained consecutively 7 years straight, 3 times a week, and are only a blue belt. You'd at least be a 2 stripe brown at the rate, and that's with no competitions.

Dj explained it well he’s doing actual jitsu tournaments and matches. They give black belts to mma fighters that train bjj in different ways especially depending on the gym🤷🏻♂️

Some people probably feel you should only wear the black belt once you TRULY earned it. Which I’d assume if that’s something they genuinely do take seriously, then it’s because they’re one of those people who’ve truly earned it (or are in the midst of doing so) through them putting in tons of dedication & hard work. Now I ain’t speaking on if Pereira has truly earned it or not because idk about all that, so it’s not for me to speak on… but clearly there’s a lot of people who feel he hasn’t. Lol Which would be why they’re “hating”.

Nah actually what happened was Alex used the good old left hook submission which when it connected with Hill’s head made his brain tap out it’s a very versatile submission I highly recommend in Bjj tournament 👍🏾🤑🥶

This is so common in bjj now, I’m getting my purple belt in 3 days and I’ve been training for 7 years. I’ve smoked brown and black belts before and it just goes to show that people get belts for just showing up or being in a coaches good graces so often.
