KEVIN COLEMAN: Hi, everyone. I'm Kevin Coleman, Weber's grilling expert. In this video, we're going to be discussing how to properly clean and maintain your stainless steel cooking grates. We're going to show you the proper grill brushes to use and techniques in order to make cleaning and maintaining your grades simple and easy. Now one of the first steps in cleaning and maintaining your grates is going to be choosing the correct grill brush, and Weber offers you a couple of different styles. We have a t-brush and a grill brush with scraper, both of which will do a great job. But one thing that we have to remember is always use a Weber stainless steel grill brush, and the reason is is because we've tested them and we know that you're going to get the best results when using them. Now the next step in probably cleaning and maintaining our cooking grates, is going to be doing a preheat. And what we recommend is turning all the burners on high for about 10 to 15 minutes. We're going to know the grill is ready when the temperature gauge reads 500 to 600 degrees. Now we recommend preheating for a couple of reasons. Number one, it's going to bring the grill up to temperature. And number two, it's going to help prevent our food from sticking, which is going to make cleaning and maintaining it easier because you're going to have less debris bring down the grades when you get done grilling. Now the final step is oiling our food, not the grates, and we recommend this for a couple of reasons. First, if we oil the grates, the oil is going to fall down the sides and not stay on the surface. The second is, any of the oil on the surface is going to get burned off during the drilling process. So if we can oil our food, it's going to help it prevent it from sticking to the grates, which is going to make cleaning and maintaining them much easier. So hopefully in this video we've been able to teach you what grill brushes to use and the proper techniques to clean and maintain your stainless steel cooking grates. Now if you're noticing excess accumulation, you can always wash them with warm soapy water and a scrubbing brush. And if you have any questions, please refer to your owner's manual, find us on weber.com, call our customer service line at 1-800-446-1071. Happy grilling.
A two minute video with absolutely no information whatsoever., except “only buy the magical Weber cleaning brush”. Thanks for nothing.
it is 2022 and we still don't know how to clean Weber stainless steel grates... I'll keep waiting.
2024 - still waiting...
Thank you!
Does Weber have a video that actually discusses and shows how to clean stainless steel grates? This video does not.
When my stainless grates get rusty I use a strip disc or wire wheel on a drill to remove the outside later and get them nice and shiny again.
Thanks, I'll give that a try
WOW 😮 amazing. You will know everything you need to know about stainless grate cleaning after watching this video like - don’t get them dirty in the first place- and.... actually that’s it. That’s all. If this video had a mouth it would suck dog ⚽️ 🏈 ‘s
Can Weber stainless steel grates go in the dishwasher?
We don't recommend putting your grilling grates in the dishwasher. The best way to clean your grates is to preheat your grill to 450 degrees F for 10-15 minutes and then scrape them with a Weber grill brush. For deep cleaning, try our Grate Cleaner Spray! www.weber.com/US/en/accessories/grill-cleaning/grate-grill-cleaner-8027/8027.html
Thank you!
First time use of my grill and residue on ss grates is baked on and the Weber cleaning brush did not remove anything as described in this video, really wish I had the porcelain coated grates instead
I use brass cleaning brush...
- heat it up VERY hot (I turn on high for 10 min after grilling)
- turn off
- scrape everything off that you're able
- soak/clean as needed with other stuff (oven cleaner etc) but NEVER anything with bleach or chlorine in it. That reacts with stainless steel!
PurerockRacing I have the porcelain coated grates and it cracked and came off after the first couple uses. Then the grates rusted like crazy. I just ordered the stainless grates... hopefully they will not be a bust!
I've seen better information on the bathroom wall.
😂
😂🤣😂
Amazing Video
This is a joke, right? useless.
Why don't you take down this video? look at the comments!
Always use a stainless steel WEBER grill brush...yeah, sure, ok, lol...
What about the Weber grill spray? Are you allowed to use that on the grates ?
Nice Video!!!
I like the tutorial. I also accustomed to thoroughly clean my personal grill from backyard through Barbecue clean that we purchased on the internet from optimalgrillbrush.com at cheap prices. It may be easily thoroughly clean through wider clean head which is effective for cleaning associated with deposits and dust contaminants.
If you oil the food it still going to burn off the food and stick🙄 this is just a commercial for Weber to sell their expensive Spatulous
And only use Weber propane tanks because the test is only done with propane that comes from a Weber propane tank. Worst example and worst pitch of trying to sell accessories. It's a damn grill brush! Lol
🤣🤣 Now that's funny!
Mm propaneeee
I'd rather season my food and oil my grates. Any tips on how to do that?
You can still season you're food after putting oil on it.
I love my Weber Genesis! That being said, those wire brushes are not good, at all. Over time the bristles fall off. Ask me how fun it is to find a piece of metal wire wedged in your throat as you're chewing down you pork chop... Last time I'll ever do that. Those wires won't show up on an x-ray later either. They should be banned.
Hi! We understand your concern. Check out our blog post regarding when to replace a wire brush. www.weber.com/US/en/blog/tips-techniques/grill-brush-care/weber-31092.html
Hopefully, this is helpful. If you need anything further please let us know. Thank you!
So what is the recommended cleaning process? What a useless video.
Thanks for nothing
Completely useless, waste of time
I was looking to see someone scrubbing. I mean, this is a cleaning video, right? Get your hands dirty! Show us how it's done.
Buy Weber, made in China and still charge made in USA prices. Like craftsman and snapon, you guys are next to go
I'm confused, you're talking smack about snap on and craftman which both have lifetime warranties?
Also my Weber grill has been in my yard uncovered for 7 years and only thing that I replaced was the grate. It still performs and looks like brand new inside and out! What over grill can you say that about without spending an arm and a leg?
And I live in western mass lol where the snow has been up to the grill handle many times.
@@dawhoda1 I think you do not grasp reading comprehension. They are manufactured in China for more money dollar for dollar than they ever were when they were manufactured in America. Aside from the flag ship grills they make here. I have old summits and genesis. Rust free. Newer grills, don't last 3 years.
Maybe if Weber made 100% stainless steel grill grates, made of 100% USA steel, instead of what they actually make--which is PLATED stainless steel cheap Chinese steel--made in China, then maybe our grates wouldn't rust? 🤔And maybe they would be easier to clean?
Agreed. I have a Ducane grill with 100% stainless grates then weber came along and bought them out
Absolutely useless video.
Main point of the video is to buy Weber brushes.
