I like the idea for the spacing but how does this add strength? It’s 2 spacers that aren’t attached. I could see if the brace that wraps around the shaft attached to the housing but it’s not and your using the same 2 holes and the same screws which are now shorter. I’d think this weakens it if anything.
There is a small hole on each side of the rear piece. This is for installing two stainless steel screws (included with the kit). The screws go into the frame and secure the mount solidly. The video does not show the screws, I will see about updating the video to show them.
Does it shorten the grip depth factory screw length?
The two piece version does by a small amount. One piece version does not.

@@Pa62218 the two piece adds clearance that allows for battery changes without the need to loosen the cam-lock and also reinforces the front mount.

I'm interested in this!!! My control box broke off the shaft. Can this fix this ??
Couldn't say without seeing it. The best fix is to have Garrett replace the control box and then put on a DTP Brace to prevent it from happening again.
Jim Sundwall There is a guy on youtube that used a bicycle reflector mount that goes on a seat post and screwed it to the speaker cover. Then the clamp that goes on the seat post clamps onto the detector shaft. It looked like a cheap and sturdy fix.

Garretts are great detectors but the plastics and the coil covers are very poor
