  • I ditched my cloth deskmat for a PU leather deskmat. Here are my reasons why I did so.
    TBH, my office table's cloth deskmat is also dirty AF.

    Thanks for posting this. I'm about to buy a desk mat and couldn't make up my mind between a big mouse pad and a pu leather desk mat. Even though the one I have in mind is a bit more expensive than the mouse pad I think that it will be worth it to not worry about the mess c:

    I wash the cloth deskmat and mouse pad as well with soapy water. After washing and drying. It leave white powder stain. I literally brush it and clean it as much as possible. How can I remove the whitish stain if I scrape it after cleaning it have like powder stuff come out.

    Weird thing about my PU leather mat- the rubber feet of my keyboard slides on it, and the PTFE glides on my mouse stick to it.

    Main question is, compared to the cloth mat, is this good for gaming? I find the stitched edges of the cloth mat cause my arm hair to pull and it's very uncomfortable feeling a pinch every few seconds (I'm not even that hairy).

      @TechCritter  Před 3 lety

      So far so good for my case. Much happier with this than cloth mats, honestly.

      Depends on the type of games. If you are playing FPS or something something similar where you need highly accurate movements, no it won't be good for that.

    I just bought a new PU leather deskmat. However, the movement of my mouse is kinda 'sticky' though. Any ways to go about this?

      Check the pads at the bottom of your mouse. If you’ve used it for a while, they get worn down and don’t slide as easily as they should.

    I've come up with a sponge rubber desk mat that is very comfortable and fairly easy to clean, been using it for 3 years personally and my friends, so far it's been great so I've made a whole batch of them, it's called Fusionstrike Limestone Desk Mat if anyone interested getting one (currently ship within UK but could sort out international shipment too). The rubber is made from sustainable limestone rock instead of oil/petrol which makes it more environmentally friendly than most desk mats out there.

    I actually have the same item inside my shopping cart. Glad to see you made this video so helped me make up my mind to get it haha really cleaning the mousepad is just a hassle especially those rgb one give up on it already.
    Btw wanted to if you leave something heavy on it does it leave a mark permanently on it? eg partial of my rig on my table actually sits on the mousepad itself

      So far, no issues for me in terms of heavy stuff. I don't really have any heavy stuff on it tbh, but I don't think it will have any marks since the PU leather deskmat not compressible.

    All very good points, I've been using these PU leather ones for a while now - there is only one issue that I've been having, and it's that in most cases, the material is "sticky" to the mouse, and it's not a matter of the "pads" under the mouse (brand new mice are just as "sticky", but they glide perfectly on other surfaces). It lessens the precision of small movements (critical if you're using stuff like Photoshop, 3D software and so on) as you end up in the classic "not moving not moving not moving...too much movement!" scenario.
    It's fine when the mat has been just cleaned, but the effect lasts only a few hours.

    • @wryxbesik
      @wryxbesik Před 2 lety +2

      I agree. same exact issue with leather -.-

    • @TheGingrBeardMan
      @TheGingrBeardMan Před 2 lety +1

      Completely agree with this. I recently purchased a PU leather mat for my office and am already thinking about abandoning it. The mouse movements and reduced accuracy in my clicks has become very frustrating. The leather mat looks nicer and will last longer, but I just can't deal with the 'sticky' mouse movement.
      Edit:
      I purchased a medium sized gaming mouse pad to use on top of the PU leather mat. Been using it for about 2 months and I'm very happy with this setup.

      Yes, if I leave my hand in direct contact with the mat for some time. It does get sticky if there's sweat, of course.
      But then again it's easy to clean since a simple wipe can get it done.

    Just chuck the cloth mouse mat in the washing machine and it comes out new every time. I've put mine through the wash about twice a year for seven years and it still looks brand new. You can't put PU leather through the washing machine.

    Try an Artisan FX Hien. Gamers don't use PU leather mouse/desk pads because they suck and they only last for a few months. You also clean clothe pads by washing them not using a lint remover. If you want a pad that's easy to maintain, try a hard surface mouse pad like the Razer Sphex or Logitech G440.

    • @LucyTheLightbringer
      @LucyTheLightbringer Před rokem

      PU leather comes in different quality, the Satechi Eco Leather will definitely last for years, the reason why gamers don’t use leather pads is because the friction, it doesn’t glide very well, they’re mainly for office/work use
