  • This video is a tour around Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. I make an effort to walk you through all of the on-mountain restaurants. I take you down some of my favourite runs. It is likely I have skied here about 200 times in the last 40 years.
If you could please help me out with a CZcams subscription. Press the button in the lower right corner. Subscriptions are free. If you have Gmail, you already have a CZcams account.
Friday January 27, 2023 was forecast to be sunny and I had a day off. Two hours from my driveway is the Creekside Base of Whistler Mountain. The road is called the Sea to Sky Highway 99 but we call it the Squamish 500. The road improved when we had the Olympics.
I start with a short transition to get up to the Harmony Bowl. My first full run is on Harmony Ridge. It think it is my favoritite run in the world. Fantastic views, super easy, and always groomed.
Nest up is Symphony Bowl, Peak to Peak, then Blackcomb.
I try to do a walk through all of the on mountain restaurants. First is Roundhouse on Whistler that includes Pika's and Steeps. Over on Blackcomb we walk through the Rendezvous lodge with Christines. The Peak to Peak gondola is 4 kilometers long. We ski Jersey Cream, Glacier Express, Crystal Ridge, then we walk through my favourite ski restaurant - Crystal lodge. Next up is a top to bottom Blackcomb down to Whistler Village. This is the top of the origional Whistler Village development.
Next I ride 5 kilometers up the Whistler Gondola. A quick snack at the Roundhouse then I ski Whistler top to bottom using Franz down to Creekside. I went very slow and rested many times. I am now 59 years old and not skiing exactly the way I used to. I rode 13 lifts today for a lift ticket of $215 Canadian Dollars.
This video was made from 2 hours of footage. It took hours to edit. Next I spent hours collecting and adding music to the whole thing. I sourced all of the tunes from Pixbay Music online. Pixbay has a very large selection of content for CZcams users. We are able to download a license for each song. Making movies is a huge filing project but it's a great hobby. Please enjoy this one and hit subscribe.

This is by far the best video I have seen on Whisteler/Blackcomb mountains. Thanks for making it all in one part. The editing and the info are great. Your knowledge of these mountains is insane.

This video starts with a time lapse drive up the highway to the mountain. A great look at the completely excellent road. It was great before the Olympics but they spent billions on it anyway. Now it is super easy to drive with wide shoulders and barriers everywhere.

I agree, Harmony Ridge is my favorite run at WB. Easy to miss but worth it.

Norm, this is an absolutely brilliant piece of work. My wife & I are off on our first international snowboard trip in 7 years to WB in late Feb24. First time for both of us. So I’m starting my mountain recon intell now to familiarise as much as possible and this is just gold watching this. Great job mate and good karma for scoring such a brilliant Bluebird day!!!! Cheers & thx.

Thank-you very much. Head straight to harmony Chair first up. If there is fresh snow, go down the bowl, if not go down the ridge. When it gets busy, ski s huge long run to the bottom of Gonzo and stay there until the lines die around lunch.

Such an awesome video I'm off there again for the 3rd time next week. I love Whistler and the Peak 2 Peak gondola.
I prefer to eat at the Merlin Bar in Blackcomb, with great nachos and live bands.

There’s no one there! We were there last weekend and it most certainly did not look like this. Gondola line at Creekside was out to the parking garage pre opening :)

hey Norm ... great video tour of WB! Well done ... just curious about what you used to capture it ... GoPro won a helmet mount?

I use a GoPro 9 and 10 on a helmet mount. The stabilization after the 9 model is incredible. Makes all other GoPro obsolete.

Lovely video! Will tne Creekside Gondolas be generally less crowded? Thinking of staying at Creekside VS Whistler village

    • @ontheroadwithnorm2024
      @ontheroadwithnorm2024  Před 7 měsíci

They are the same because most of the drive-ups park at the much shorter quicker Creekside. Stay at the village. There is about 50 restaurant options and every fancy shop[ you can think of. The village is a wonderful place for a walk and did I mention the shopping is world class? Thanks for leaving a comment.

I like Whistler better but it is a coastal mountain. It is low altitude compared to the interior. There is always lighter snow in Sunshine, a great mountain.

I shoot on a Gopro 9 and 10. anything earlier does not have the unbelievable digital stabilization. No need for a gyro like the old days. The 10 has horizon lock which is great for outdoor sports.

Good video, but I would suggest to break it down into 10-12 mins segments and you can segregate the content and get more viewers.

God damn Norm, you're living the life. I wish I could hit the road and visit whichever resort/mountain I wanted to.
