Nick Young is a legend. Most of the time, unintentionally. But, the NBA world is richer because he was in it for stories like these.
He was dam near trash dude
He let gil down
@Nathan St Fleur i meant gil told nick on the podcast he had high hopes for him then nick said sorry
he’s the bruh guy he’s a legend outside of the nba
The legend of Swaggy-P lives on
That was definitely a Nick Young type thing to say.
One of Canada's finest ambassadors across any sport. Steve Nash, you're an absolute legend!
Hopefully he learns from another Canadian legend, Tristian Thompson, and gets the ring lmao
eeee that’s true, talented with a bright future
Facts, Nash has always been class personified you know he’s real by the way his teammates speak so highly of him.
He’s South African tho?
Y’all sleep on Anthony Bennett
Nash's pain during Lakers felt like our pain. I want him to succeed, more than anyone because of how great a guy he is.
God bless i feel the same way, dude deserves his success and i wish the same to everyone with good intentions
He was older by than. I was always clear about that
Nice to hear the backstory, wish he could have left on top too.
@Stink Fingers McGee if you're literally, true. But did you not watch the same interview we did? Or watches the games? Or the other way people talk about him? Nothing wrong with wishing inspirational people well.
I’m not glad he got injured but I’m glad it didn’t work out. He should have never joined the enemy
This has quickly become some of my favourite basketball content. There's no bias, or heavily opinionated statements from people not directly involved in the sport; just great insights from people/players who truly love the game. It's refreshing to listen to basketball conversation that takes a couple of steps back from the usual 'player vs player' trope
Thank you bro
You get it
It’s refreshing
Knucklehead podcast is good also
It's people talking about a passion as if it's really their passion
You can’t get this anywhere else
Im going back and forth between this and no chill(Gilbert Arenas) podcast
WOW GRAAAPE
“Every athlete dies twice”
Damn I never thought about that
It's called the "little death" when an athlete retire. It's often said about soccer players. But same thing goes for every sport.
@@slamdunk2270 for some that's a bigger death, especially if they "gave it everything" and the rest of life is just ho hum.
Sammie Juwon exactly
@@halfon005 Exactly
He saying it, and the fact that he spent his last playing days with the Lakers remind me of Kobe, and now I'm sad.
lool swaggy p a fool bruh🤣🤣
i like the guy but he so dumb lmao
I totally heard that line in Swaggy's voice.
@@ek274 Could you please explain what did he say for non English speakers? "used to do to cats"?
@@slamdunk2270 "Cats" is slang for dudes. He's referring to how Steve used to ball out on guys.
@@YeshuaMyGod thanks 👍🏻
2:35 the Nick Young piece
Thank you
m v p
Not all heroes wear capes
thank you so much
Thank God
Haha... Nash kinda just reversed the back hander by saying "I must look bad out there if he's calling me out"
For God so loved the world that He gave his only son, that whosoever believes on him should not perish, but have everlasting life...God loved us first, would you show your love to him. Repent and be converted. Now is the time for salvation, tomorrow may be too late
😆
@Clutch7 probably the same thing with nick talking to steve
Smooth
@Clutch7 nah if ur an all time great and nick young can talk down to u makes it worse
As a 75 year-old I liked the part where Nash states to not be attached to the Persona of the Hero Star but to move on after the last game. It is so sad to see entire segments of a society living life through rear view mirrors when the present moment is where it's at. Nash makes old Canadian guys proud.
seems like yesterday jj was the most popular kid in college now he thinking end of career
“Most popular” lmao
@@dannyshurik5952 he was lol
And still looks the same age
I remember hating him and that duke team so much! 😂
IceeFox might’ve been popular but not in a good way😂
Love how genuine, candid, and insightful this is. Great content.
Look at nash, man. So inspirational.
Nick gave Steve his epiphany lol😂😂
Damn, this got really deep
Felt so bad for Nash during his stint with the Lakers. That was the best pickup we had made since Pau and he could've helped the team greatly (even at his age) if he was healthy. Still awesome to know he retired a Laker :)
Podcast from former players and current players are so great because we have been listening to analytics from ego meniac "analyst" who knows absolutely nothing about the game
Faxx
Crazy to see Skip and this analyst asking how does x team get the numbers. Think they only read the numbers, not following the games. They should go to Tim Legler to understand how the team works, not just the superstars. But shouting numbers and rankings get the views up.
this is exactly why i watch these, just better insight then fuckin like max kellerman tryna tell me his opinions
stephen a smith cough cough
days will be hard when earnie and the tnt boys retire.
Steve is so right. At the end of my time playing, I remember a friend who I'd played with for years saying to me "I remember back when you were good." And that day was when I hung up my sneakers for good; pro or not, so many of us aging players have that moment. But the sentiment that you should enjoy it, and go for as long as you can is a good one; most of us lifelong hoopers were never pros, but our love was every bit as intense as that of any NBA player; part of us dies when we can no longer play. That's why it's so important to have other passions.
That’s why old people like golf
@@wildk5367 Ha! In my case, cycling. It's low impact. :)
Facts. That moment you realize you no longer have anything to prove on the court, it’s heart breaking but as you said you gotta find another passion.
i wish Steve Nash wasn't so hurt his last year in the league, so he could have gone on his farewell tour the right way, and get the standing ovations and respect from the fans he deserved.
Nobody can defeat Father Time. As much as we talk about who's the best, just appreciate every player that we get to see play. I miss seeing Nash play, dude was a magician on the Suns.
Much respect to JJ and Steve for sharing your stories. Big fan! 🙏🏼 🏀
Such a profound and insightful look at true passion. Salute to you Steve Nash and big ups to JJ on this podcast. I wish I had this as a younger player.
This interview, was so RAW and so REAL.
Thank you, all...
Steve Nash and Jason Kidd are the best PG's of their generation. Absolute GREAT, GREAT, GREAT layer, and a top 10 PG of alltime.
We still cherish your present game, skills (added ones too) and art Steve! 💥💥 *always a great*
Real gems in this interview.
You can see JJ’s eyes widen the moment Nash says, “the athlete dies twice.” It’s really cool watching someone internalize something in real time
Man actual basketball content... pretty rare nowadays
Ikr
Lmaooo
Not really it’s not there’s tons of good b-ball content out there
Bro i love JJ and his whole being. Real cool dude, awesome hooper, and overall great guy
Wow. This was a great segment & I really appreciate hearing his transparency about transitioning out of sport.
Very insightful
I remember Kobe saying he didn't miss basketball after retirement and thats how basketball players should adapt. Where a person like Michael Jordan has not seemed to let go regardless of age and how much money he accumulates. I'm glad Nash was brave to admit that it was tough but looks like he's doing good for himself!
Kobe said that but still had Gigi, mamba academy, coaching aau. His love for the game never faded. He died flying mamba academy to the game his daughter was supposed to play in and he was supposed to coach in.
He didn’t miss it because he was still extremely involved in major aspects of his life anything from business to family.
That was beautiful!
Beautiful introspective words. Can’t make your whole identity about basketball. Imma definitely need this pep talk again Coach Nash…
Nash is wise af
Appreciate the sharing bros
To all the Laker Stans out there saying he did nothing but collect a paycheck and that he stole money from the organization...I hope this gives you some perspective.
Never really blamed him, more Dwight and his ego.
It does, but I'm still mad
Anyone that would say that is beyond stupid. Kobe got paid 50 mil his last two years to do absolutely nothing but have a cool last game, what’s the difference
@@Dilbagh0210 All good bro. I know it's not every Laker fan.

Nick Young has no filter lmao 😂😂💀
Love the podcast guys!
could listen to Steve Nash all day 👌🏽
Great insight from Steve
Never thought growing up I’d love watching jj on CZcams more then him shoot 3s 😂😂 always good content ‼️
Steve Nash- My favorite player of all time
That comment is sooooo Nick Young!
Getting paid almost $10 million a year for 3 years is an excellent reason to still play.
That pic of Nash and using the term "opened his eyes" was not a coincidence 🤣
Love you're game JJ you have had a great career! definitely consider being a coach in your time.
Best basketball sports talk show
lmao nick young hillarious but thats just disrespectful in a funny way
For sure, he's so oblivious w that comment
😂It comes from love tho, i don’t think he realize how bad it sound until he said it.
Keep up the good content JJ new subscriber
JJ is building one hell of an interview resume. Based off the relationships he’s made and respected. Should catapult him to the top in sports media.
This the most perfect response from Nash as to what’s it like realized your game, that life is over.
JJ podcast is about the only thing that has had a successful 2020 lol amazing come up. This pod is great
Damn, JJ really has a lot going for him with this show. Truly a fan of the podcast.
Like the background for this interview
I have to subscribe and like Jj's podcasts just to support him for his post retirement gig.
i clearly remember he brought this up in his mini show series "the finish line"
that series was very interesting, but gave off these very dark feelings. so happy for nash now.
Being Canadian, I was so in love with Steve Nash. Only sports jersey I've ever owned, and I had two of phoenix #13. Got made fun of for having a "man crush" in grade 7. I did, it was true.
Nash got me into basketball. To this day the only basketball jersey I own is a Phoenix Suns Steve Nash jersey. I am considering a Doncic jersey though. But yeah, Nash was and still is my all time favourite basketball player.
Nothing wrong with that man
Gayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Win or Lose, there is no more peace time in any man's life than his knowing that he has done the very best that he could do.
I am not a fan of Kyrie or KD. But I AM rooting for Nash to do well in Brooklyn.
KD and Kyrie have a ring they don’t need Nash, Nash needs them
Devin Lewis kyrie and KD were gifted rings, they aren’t winners on their own or with other good teams. They need Nash, not the other way around.
Russell Christopher To say they need him is a stretch, what has Nash won?
@@chrissykes1619 maybe KD was gifted, even though I believe he contributed a lot to both of his rings. But Kyrie? hell nah, that's like saying pippen was gifted his ring.
LegendaryFart I’ll give you an inch on this because kyrie was way more important to the cavs than KD was to the warriors.... but, when MJ left pippen and the bulls won like 55 games. Kyrie lead teams don’t make the playoffs. Even Boston... he went there and the team got worse somehow. Like wtf?!
The point is: he’s not a winner. I stand by that. He was lebrons sidekick but he’s no pippen. Just my two cents.
wow steve nash really giving out that golden knowledge . too real.
Nash went to the Lakers and Kobe had like 5-6 games if remember right when he dished like 14 asists per game.
William Tan facts Kobe’s training ain’t faze him
bojo perez Kobe was playing too many minutes that season. But he wanted to make the playoffs. Lakers should’ve tanked that season and regrouped for next year. Cause Kobe still had something in the tank at that time. I think he was like 2nd in the league in scoring behind kd for a stretch
this puts into perspective how insane jordan's second 3peat was after coming from 18 months of baseball
I wish “The Finish Line” got a true finish. It was a wonderful and eye-opening doc series on Nash’s last year.
Where can I watch this? Thanks in advance!
BataBatibot08 - CZcams my friend! Here is the link to the 1st episode. Let me know what you think of the series! It’s a shame it was cut short -

The Nash Suns were the blueprint for the splash city warriors, so fun to watch. As a Mavs fan, much love for Nash always!
Honestly the Celtics started that run and gun style back in the 50's when they got Bill Russell. They even shot a lot of 3pt range shots even tho there was no 3 point line. Red Auerbach was lightyears ahead of his time, and created many strategies still used today.
The mindset of a true winner in life
Canadian legend
"Damn what's it like to know what you used to do to cats?"
@Noyce Gaming basically what's it like knowing you can't do anything that you used to do to NBA players anymore
“You can’t tie your identity to basketball”
Goes on to become a head coach of a contending basketball team
Wisdom from one of the greats.
Profound words.
Wat a guy. Love Nash, hope him and Kidd can develop a rivalry as coaches like they had sort of as players
JJ you do a really good job, and I think the Nets have the right guy for this group of players.
Steve Nash is one of the most likeable NBA players of all time
Him, DWade, Dirk, Curry, Magic, Duncan, Dr. J etc
Idk if Wade is on that list. A lot of people hate Wade. I love him but I’ve heard a lot of people call him dirty before back in 2011-2014
Boban and tacko
I really don't care at all about dwade. I don't hate him but I don't really like him at all
Yao ming and kareem
I think Wade kinda ruined his likeability to a lot of people with the whole heatles saga, I mean he sounds like a good guy, but that team was seriously hated at the time.
man, he’s gonna make a good coach.
Nick Young a fool! 😂😂😂❤️
Man I laughed so loud😂😂😂😂
It’s the consistent placement of the hat that’s similar to TI for me 😂😂😂😂
Steve Nash is a Legend.
Steve Nash = goat point guard
JJ listening to Steve talk about "looking at an endless skyline and basketballs not in it" like "they're gonna have to drag me out of the league kicking and screaming now" 😂😂
Steve remains undefeated!
I watched his Sun's highlights a few days ago....Nash is definitely one of the best point guards to handle the Rock
3:50 JJ absorbing the gravity of what Steves saying
Nash is the best, such a great player/person.
Thats cold.
Steve Nash knows what's up...you're born into this world with worth....and then due to the way society is.....you give all your worth out to everything else, and let that have power of you, your work, your car, your money.......self-worth is rare...
Nash is a wise man he's interesting to listen to
For some reason, I didn't think that Steve Nash cursed LOL. But he's one of my fav all-time PGs. Good luck in Brooklyn!
Jj got steve lookin wild in the thumbnail
Iv never heard anyone say one bad word about Steve Nash. Seems like a real dude. Best of luck in BK.
Uncle Steve!!!!
Yo steve's eye in the thumbnail lol
I saw Steve at the mall. One of those deals, I thought I knew him. Remembering his name I said “hi Steve” he looks up and said “hi”
I’m thinking he forgot my name, then it hits me. Steve Nash mvp…..
Steve Nash is a walking Quotable Quotes.
Swaggy p is hilarious 😂😂
One thing I like about Nash is that he is a great listener
Why you do Steve like dat in the thumbnail though 😂😂
lol he's a bit of a goofy looking guy, don't think it was intentional :p
Steve always looks like that, he has a lazy eye. Even more impressive taking his career into account when with a lazy eye you can’t see in 3D
That’s how I’d want to go out if I ever decided I didn’t want to be a gamer anymore. Sometimes doing what u love doing helps u find urself sometimes it helps u find ☮️
Thumbnail did my mans dirty
Did Steve dirty with that thumbnail 🤪
Love Steve Nash man, such a great player and a better man. The year he won his first MVP the Suns came to Charlotte back when it was the Bobcats, an he was the only player that signed all probably 60 peoples items that were lined up at the tunnels. An like halfway down he kept my marker an finished signing the rest of them, an jogged to to court with my marker an with one foot on the court he realized he had it an turned an tossed it back from 40 feet away an in slow motion throw Hurling in the Air an with everyone else there it went right to me an ill be damed if Im not catching an assist from The OG triple OG Steve Nash himself lol. An I caught it an everyone went crazy, one of the coolest moments of my life He's just the best, an they went on to destroy the Bobcats by 25 lol great night.
I love players interviewing other players! You don't get these type of in-depth conversations with them media fools.
