  • An educational video explain exactly how the new Slim Line LNB works,
    and how to install it. It takes eight satellite feeds and puts them on
    one cable that can be split inside the building.

    Make sure that your SWM power adapter I connect to a working power outlet and that the green light is on, if that is on call customer service and they can send out a tech usually the CSR (Customer Service Repetitive) will wave the service change

    Maybe I missed it somewhere. Is there a video that covers that actual wiring from the SWM. I have an SL3, slimline directv dish, a splitter? In 2 outs with one out capped, double female ended adapter, 50' cable, 3' cable, power supply. A lot of videos out there show how to assemble the dish. It skips over the wiring and goes directly into tuning. The wires mysteriously attached to it. Anyone?

      @dutch971 Před 6 lety

      50' cable from SL3 to power inserter -> then to splitter -> splitter to DVR -> cap off ends of splitter not in use -> plug power inserter in first before DVR. I guess the female adapter you are talking about is a k band adapter. You don't need it. By the way this video is really old and should be taken down. It is not relevant anymore.

    The genie is SWM only. It takes up 5 of the 8 tuners. Is the Genie Mini another tuner?

    When you say "never connect a power inserter in a way it can feed voltage to a reciever". Is that the installer wanted the inserter plugged into it's own wall outlet intead of into a surge protector multi plug?

    Can you use a signal preamp with the SWM LNB, (or would you want to with 180 feet of cable?) You mention using cable with nothing else inline.

    you wouldn't use a multiswitch. You would use a swm splitter.

    Well Jerry, i'm in sales, I only want to know how to install so I know when the installers working for me are trying to bullshit me for extra $, I think I can still answer your question. He's talking about which feed in the power inserter is directed towards the ODU (satellite dish), the line out with voltage needs to run directly to that dish, not the receivers.

    There is no comparison between Dish and DirecTV, Dish has to install two dishes on your house to have the capability of HD and local programming, they are about to lose their DVR service, and they just lost their lease on another satellite that is putting their Fox programming in jeopardy, they lose signal due to alignment issues, and their programming is for old people.I have installed both systems and SBCA Certified DirecTV is the better system hands down...

      +Jann Goldberg You don't need to subscribe to a satellite provider in Germany. Set up a dish and you have a huge variety on free channels, including popular channels that are meant for a wide audience. You want pay-TV, you subscribe to a channel company.

    Directv doesn't use orbital 110 or 119. Those are dish Network orbitals. So there's a lie right there

    If you wish to have Digital Video Recorder (DVR) service then I say stick with DirecTV. Dish Network just lost a patent infringement lawsuit against TiVo and there is a very strong possibility Dish Network will no longer be able to offer DVR service of ANY type. Some will say I lie but trust me it is true. Go ahead and Google "Dish Loses $300 Million Judgment" and see for yourself.
