We are in Fort Worth TX. Due to HOA and current world events, we are thinking of moving to AR because we want to be able to grow our own food. Thru searching online and youtube, I came across your video of Permaculture which is AWESOME and you got my interest of wanting to learn more about it. Also, one of the reason we chose AR is we heard that soil there is better for growing than TX...as I have experience trying to grow even with just a 1 sf ft of mint in the back yard, I would have to buy a bag of soil from HDepot. Anyway, so is it true about soil in AR being better for growing than TX? Before I take the Permaculture Design Class, should I first find the land where we plan to move then take the class, that way I can use the map of the new area in the design class. Maybe I am getting ahead of myself...LOL. Thank you.
I've never been able to successfully grow anything I could eat. Only a barley keep alive some Hardy ornamental plants. But I have a large family and am seeing how important this is

We have deer where we are in N. TX. What do you do to prevent them from eating the crops?
Fence or netting
give them an obstacle and/or something else to eat
Hunt them if they're in season
Is that really safe to water plants with the water that you have washed your clothes with?

Do you teach how to map our microclimate? How about how to plan a new food forest? I have 9 fruit trees on the way but now I'm worried that I'll plant in the wrong places. I'm trying to find all the info I can asap. I'm on the OK & TX border so not far out of your zone.

I love wasps but i don’t want them right above my front door or above my tool shed door. I did hang big paper grocery bags full of wadded up paper bags from my eaves a few days ago- hope it works! 🐞🐜🐝🦟 Also, if I put keyhole circles everywhere, how do i protect from rabbits? 🐇 edit: The bags did not work out, unfortunately. I had to use wasp spray, which I do not like. The bags are still up.

I have but organized religion has only shown division, repression, and has held societies back. It's a blow to permaculture. At the core of all organized religions you will find God not through man-made philosophies Concepts or designs to control. Spirituality is the seed of all religions and Mankind has shown that it fears that drastically without some structure to control Society. The understanding of spirituality alone gives way to the same Concepts and philosophies that organized religion uses to control and in some sense dehumanize people. If permaculture is about culture as well as agriculture then we need to rethink. Even the founder Bill Mollison although considered himself an environmentalist he had his own shortcomings towards women and was a bit aggressive towards those who didn't understand his philosophies. Although human beings come up with great ideas they still continue to be flawed and many fail to recognize that. The human temperament is just as important as design for sustainable living. It's part of it.
Thanks for sharing your point of view. I found it clear and lucid although perhaps a bit assumptive.
I responded more from a point of view of feeling bad that you said I lost you when I said praise the Lord. To me I saw someone who didn't have the ability to separate their wheat from their chaffe. Although that could also be a bit assumptive.
As time permits I would invite and welcome you to have a zoom communicate with just you and me for better clarity and respect of our thoughts.
