This was the race of the entire session with Tebogo on 2nd leg easy looking 43.49 split & Ndori on anchor splitting 43.95 in that battle with SA's Pillay. An almost 39yr old Isaac Makwala has been a great servant for BOT, but his 47.67 1st leg means he has to be replaced with either Kebinatshipi who ran 45.94 on 1st leg in the Mixed 4x4 or Pesela who split 45.31 on 3rd.

I think they are trying to get him one last medal since he means so much to Botswanan sprinting. I'd like to see that too, but he cant hold the team back. I doubt he runs the final in Paris if they qualify

I was shocked to see Makwala still running after all these years. For Botswana to do so well with him clearly not what he used to be is incredibly impressive. They could shave 2 seconds of that time yet and really give the American team a run for their money at the Olympics.

Makwala is my all time favorite sprinter but that first leg is unacceptable. He's got to get that split down to at least low 46s, hopefully he still has that in his legs. Im guessing in Paris they let him run the opening round and then put Ngozi or Pesela in the final.
