Not gonna lie, it's funny that Dante has constantly been stated as being a virgin by the creators, but so many fans ignore it.

The way Arkham shifts between his two personas here is really great, and shows how he was a pretty wild villain.
And Vergil being in his coldest iteration yet. DMC4 barely shows anything of him and in DMC5 he's brought back for fanservice. He should have stayed dead in DMC1 for the story to have real consequences and move on.

It's weird ever since Devil May Cry 5 Vergil and Dante seem to get along a little bit despite they still want to kill each other I wonder why I thought they still hate each other because Virgil wanted more power
@@demochris1786 I'd say it's because Dante and Virgil understand each other now. Virgil knows Dante is strong, probably stronger than him but he's not willing to go as far as himself. Whereas Dante understands that Virgil's need for power is founded on love for what he's lost. They've grown a lot

@@demochris1786 It’s because of V that Vergil isn’t glaringly full of hatred anymore. It’s shown in “Visions of V”
V was his human heart that he had beaten into submission. The manga (sadly Japanese only. If it ever hits stateside, I’m buying the whole series quick it was great) showed that Vergil, in this mindset, had frozen emotionally right after that fateful night that destroyed their family.
See, he ran far from the mansions before the demons came, because he had just gotten into a fight with Dante and their mother misunderstood (Vergil wanted to read, Dante wanted to fight, Dante stole his book, Vergil fought back, Mom came to punish, and was going to take the book and give chores.)
So he was taken by surprise when demons showed up in the park he was hiding in. He tried to run home, but it lit ablaze before his eyes. And then, while he was stunned, the demons chasing him literally made Swiss cheese out of him. The poor kid even stretched a hand out, begging for his family to help, and they stabbed that too!
He froze after that, and believed only power would protect him, and only power would get him through that nightmare. And when Dante disrupted that thought by beating him, he set his sights on him, only really wanting him dead so he doesn’t have to think of that nightmare anymore.
V helps him work through that and stop holding himself to that moment, to accept his loss, and realize all he has to gain by moving forward (apparently, he repressed the memory of Dante’s face, back when Vergil threw himself down to hell, and Dante still tried to save him, even as Vergil spited him and slashed his hand, Dante still desperately tried to save him)
That’s why Vergil in DMC 5 is much softer. As V, he came to move past inhibitions he previously held (really kind of cute side lol. His familiars threw him in a fountain to bath, and while they were drying his clothes, he decided randomly to be lazy and not keep himself up. Almost drowned and scared the shit out of Griffon lol “ARE YOU A F*CKING INFANT?!?” Long story short, Vergil likes being coddled a bit lol, like how he didn’t protest Dante claiming to be his caretaker)
His sense of humor is a bit sh*tty though lol. V made the mistake of cracking a joke in his final moments. Early in the manga, Griffon says “Do something Vergil would never do, like crack a joke!” Then in the end, after asking Vergil if he truly hates fighting with his brother (to which child Vergil responds “Fighting with Dante is the best.”) V decides then is the moment to be witty and says “Then go and show him no mercy😉”
So, no humor Vergil took that to heart 😅 though it’s why he was so quick to back down and accept Nero’s deal at the end. I think he realized he misinterpreted.
But thanks to the events of the story, Vergil doesn’t crave power anymore, except to best Dante in their games 😅. Maybe in the next game, he’ll curse weakness again for whatever the plot is doing against them, and try to be stronger, but it will never be to this degree of madness again, I think.

Arkham hit Vergil so hard, it knocked the Beowulf right out of him.
But credit where credit is due, Vergil did take a look at him and thought "Y'know. I kinda like his whole shtick of being in disguise. I don't like the insane buffoon, but the guy dressed in all black that reads from a book, idea..."

This fight has the best narrative moment in the series conveyed entirely through gameplay. Vergil sees Dante (and by extension us the players) as beneath him to the point that he is willing to try a new devil arm just to fuck around, like how we the player had done several times by that point. But at the halfway point he enters phase two he does something significant and it's not popping DT. He switches back to Yamato. How many times have we tried new weapons and styles until we hit a wall, then switch back to ol reliable (Swordmaster and Rebellion on OG PS2 port. Don't lie.) And got past it. Vergil mirrored just that and also acknowledged that Dante, and by extension the player, actually IS worthy as his opponent.
Watching the older DMC installment make me realize how powerful they have become in DMC 5

To 100% complete the game you have to beat Dante Must Die without getting hit and hitting S rank on every metric. You need about six months practice to do that. Also you have to master Royal Guard.

Arkham was an irredemeable asshole through and through, but he was well-written, and thats's enough to make him one of the best villains in the series (apart from Vergil, but I never saw him as a "villain").

Idk... It is a masterpiece as it is even to this day. I just did a walkthrough a few month back and I honestly prefer this game over 5 for the atmosphere, story and bosses.

it's more like a headcanon, but i have a thoughts that in dmc3 dante still doesn't know that gilver wasn't vergil (remember how he said in their _first_ meeting "i didn't saw you in a year" and year ago he lived under the name of tony redgrave and gilver was here and killed his stepparents) and this is why dante is so in hate of him, fighting with such rage. and in this scene he also doesn't have mercy to vergil. but he will when he will find out about mundus's experiments and realise all situation

Am I the only one who finds it weird that when playing the games in order, the whole Twin thing with Dante and Virgil seems be phased out?
Well, originally, Devil May Cry was just a spin off of Resident Evil. What one of the games was supposed to be, but they rejected it for Resident Evil, so they tried it out by making it it’s own series.
Worked for the best, but so if the original games and media feel odd, it’s because Vergil probably didn’t exist back then.
But I think it’s all come to work pretty well, so I hope they keep with it and don’t screw with it again, like they did with DmC Devil May Cry the reboot.
@@Norinia well Vergil did exist in the form of Nelo Angelo, and he was at least planned, the necklace depicting Vergil and Dante explicitly says in its description "Dante and Vergil" and also when you "kill" Nelo Angelo the same necklace drops from him, indicating who he really is
The order is 31245 chronologically if I remember right. The twin aspect hasn't gone away just for half the series Vergil isn't there. Hes busy being tortured in hell.
