  • Nearly three weeks after Chicago resident Taylor Casey went missing from a Bahamas yoga retreat, her family says investigators have gone quiet. Casey’s mother, Colette Seymore and family friend Emily Williams join NewsNation's Brian Entin to discuss the latest. Seymore fears the case isn't being handled respectfully. "My idea really saddens me when I think about it," Seymore said during an appearance on "Banfield." "I feel like my child had two strikes against her when she went to the yoga retreat. One is that she's Black, and the other is that she's transgender."

      No they should not! It is cultural in the Caribbean the minute they would have said this then all bets are off. No one would speak. No one would really offer any help or assistance or anything at all. And the minute ppl in Bahamas did find out everyones said "oh well". Yes everyone would actively discriminate even the US embassy knew this and this is why they did not want to lead with it!.

      I thought of this, as I think it would impact the whole situation. I spent time in Nassau many years ago, went there repeatedly for several years because I was youn g and dating a Bahamian man. I learned that the people were not open minded and conservative in their views of certain things. And Americans are liked and also disliked because of who Americans are perceived to be, rightly or wrongly. When I realized the missing woman is transgender I feared the worst. There are people here in this country that are not on board with transgender. A small isolated country would not necessarily embrace that.

      I know authorities are reluctant to "out" someone because they always get flack for that. But if Taylor looks more male in real life than in pictures, people are looking for someone who looks female. Now, that is one little step forward to admit that Taylor has chosen the transgender lifestyle, but God still requires you to pray the prayer, correctly. Please pray that your son is located, and returns home, safely. To keep referring to your child as "She," is in actuality telling God He made a Mistake. God does not make mistakes. God formed Taylor as a male, not a female. No matter how a person attempts to they cannot alter their DNA. How can God, in the Mighty Name of Jesus, answer your prayer when you keep asking Him to bring your daughter, Taylor home? Pray that God brings your son, Taylor, home. I am only the messenger, but God is the One that is Sending the Message. When they initially said mom thought that TC was targetted, I didn't understand why, but now it makes sense. Being a man presenting yourself as a woman in The Bahamas will not end well, black or non-black. I'm not saying you'll be killed, but you need to be extra cautious.
    The Bahamas has become more open to homosexuality, but transgenderism probably got a long way to go. TC should've done better research to know it wouldn't be safe for her and mom should've told her. They are expecting another government to act like an American government. People are not going to help I think it is more because Taylor was trans and they don’t want the disappearance was in the tourist area. They don’t want it to affect tourism. Now if the place has a travel advisory the US is not putting resources on assisting because they told you of the danger, you ignored it, and you are going at your own risk. She’s dead. This may another Natalie Holloway

      @N11-xr9pi1 Před 13 dny

      These travel advisories are senseless sometimes since you have more chance of being harmed in the US but you are right. First of all I think that people watch too many movies and assume that the US embassy and US law enforcement will run into a country to turn it upside down to rescue and find people. They won't and US embassies make this clear if travelers pay attention they explain what they can do and won't do...

Also at this point the Bahamas police were still building a bribery case against the lead investigator who allegedly took a bribe to end the investigation. If they were cooperating with that investigation that would explain it.

    Suppose you're putting out a missing person for a woman. Is there a possibility that someone could have seen the individual and assumed that she was a biological man (there is a video where she is talking on a stage, and it's clear she's not a biological woman), therefore dismissing that they are even the same person (mistaken identity)?

    Hiding that her daughter was transgendered hindered the investigation. If the police had known that very important aspect of the missing person's life they would have gone in a different direction from the start. Not every country is friendly to that sort of thing, especially in the caribbean. So her daughter might have met someone who was not a part of the retreat who took umbrage over it. I hope they find her alive and well.

    No, I am white and they wanted to rob me in Nassau. Doesn't matter what nationality you are; traveling, I have had my belongings stolen from my hotel rooms several times, ripped off financially and robbed. I always went with a male and we get robbed. Doesn't matter how well you prepare for a vacation out of the Country, I ran into problems at places and am amazed that I survived all of it. So, remember, I am white and they targeted me too. I was able to "think" and took seconds to act. Run, run, run. Get back home and never go back to that place. Taylor , somehow, became a target and being black or trans may have absolutely nothing to do with it! Praying desperately for her Mother and loved ones.
