7 years on ? Still good info. Went underneath mine with can of 3 in 1 spray oil. Located gear shift area ( on my 2005 Peugeot Boxer camper). Liberally sprayed it then greased it all. Wow. Brilliant. Just so much easier to select gears !!! Thanks
Tip: Your advise. Is correct and make sense. BUT a word of caution! ⚠ Pretty much all types of grease and oils act like magnet for dust /dirt /debris. Which is precisely the genesis of this problem! When driving in heavily dusty environment. One can notice the time between lubs will get shorter and shorter! How to solve it? Very simple. Silicone! Either in spray, but particularly in grease form makes for excellent lubrication, do not attack rubber parts AND do not attract dust. In fact it acts more like a dust "repellent". A very handy feature in this case. ;-) BTW Lubricating any moving parts is a valid tip for any mechanical components on any car, van, truck, etc. ;-) Cheers
Thanks a lot I'm really glad for your advice... I had sent my car to a garage, they called me and told me I had to change the clutch at the price of 14.000 dkr. It was hard for me to understand since the car had only driven 50.000 km, so I looked for another explanation and found your video, and now the car runs again and I saved a lot money😀 You saved my Christmas😀
We had a problem with our work van (Peugeot Boxer) which wouldn't go into reverse at all, or go across for 5th and 6th. We put it into our local garage to sort. They said that something had collapsed inside the gearbox, and they would need to drop the box, send it off to a specialist for 2-3 weeks to rebuild it and fit it back in. They quoted 800-900 quid! I wasn't convinced as the van has only done 65K so I set to work with the WD. Ours was really seized so it took a bit of levering with a screwdriver to get it moving enough, but eventually got enough movement to engage all the gears. I'd already done that before stumbling on this video but it's exactly the same job as you've done so well done for showing people how to do it. Unfortunately, I didn't have a 'wiggler' so had to keep getting in and out of the van but got the same end result. I too have used grease afterwards to stop the WD drying out too quickly. And we won't be going back to that garage again either! Cheers.
This video maybe 7 years old but I've just followed his advice and WD'd the gear linkage on my 2015 Ducato van and it's worked a treat. I also WD'd my side door guide wheel and that's now smooth too :) Cheers for the tips and inspiration to diy it and save some cash... it's all too easy to sit around watching how to vids on youtube without actually doing anything!
Utterly brilliant. I have exactly this problem even though I spent almost £600 having the cables changed last year. Will engage a "Millie" and get to work on it. Many thanks. Love your style.
This is very good advice. Especially with the inherently leaky windscreen -> motorbay seal you should sort out with some silicone sealant, it is important to keep things cleaned and lubed inside the motor bay. Other possible solution for a sticky or weird gear stick action is opening the stick housing inside the cabin and tightening the screws holding the assembly together. Mine had come seriously loose over time (or perhaps they had not been tightened properly in the service..) and it made a world of difference to tighten them.
a heartfelt thank you, 5th and reverse were not reachable, I found your video, and applied wd40, with the help of a friend and a crowbar lifted the stuck selector and freed it, now have all gears and a smoother change.. ty
Thanks for uploading. I thought I needed a new set of linkage cables but this really useful video helped me sort out the problem myself. Much appreciated, thanks for taking time to do this.
Thank you so much for posting this. I took my Citroen Jumper out this morning after a couple of months sitting on the driveway and it was very difficult to change gear. I followed your advice and the gearchange was transformed.
I thank you so much. I'll try it as soon as I can. If this solve the problem I'll save a lot of money on synchron rings and other stuff I've been advised to do. Extremely nice of you to take your time to help me.
My side door lock worked instantly...Thanks, I’ll be doing the gear linkage later when Milly arrives also....GREAT help...MANY THANKS 🏴🏴🏴❤️❤️
Just pulled on the drive in my 67 plate work van (Citroen Relay) couldn't get it into reverse. Had been very hard work for a couple of days. Watched this, followed the steps and HEY PRESTO! Guess who's going to work tomorrow with only a £8 dint in he's wallet for some grease. Thanks alot, great advise!
Thank you. I had a similar issue with my 96 Peugeot Boxer Campervan. I crawled underneath and located the linkage like in your vid and squirted load of WD40 all over. I didn’t have an assistant so I wiggled it about and after a while it suddenly freed up! Such a relief as I was on holiday at the time. I’m going to grease it up when I get home. Many thanks! 🙂
I did this and it worked to a degree...... I eventually discovered that the gearbox mounting was sloppy, this allowed the gearbox to move a little. As the gearshift stick is fixed to the cab and the gearbox is fixesd only by means of the mounting to the cab, having movement between the 2 made the problem worse. Changing the gearbox mounting (10 minute job and about 25 quid) cured it completly and got rid of the previous clutch judder when initally pulling away.
Going to try this tomorrow because I’m having problems getting my Citroen Relay 2003 SWB into gear after it being parked up for 2 weeks in the pouring rain. Fingers crossed it works for me
Is this not the guy of the tele? No-ones mentioned it. Anyway, thanks I'll be doing this tomorrow. A van thats been sat for months so sounds about right.
Yes this works! Thanks for making the video. Harder to reach my gear linkage as it's nearer the back and centre-left so had to turn the wheel and do from underneath. Still couldn't reach to add grease so after WD40 used GT85 which has a slightly higher PTFE content - this will wear off with rain I guess but if anyone knows of a better product to spray in this hard to reach place - please let me know.
Great news, can't wait to try it out soon!!! Do you have any suggestions how to change the off side front indicator light bulb not working, fuses are okay? Rick
I love you so much I could almost give you a big kiss. I am here in outback Australia with my fiat ducato campervan and I was having more and more difficulties getting into reverse gear. Managed to get a can of wd40, did the business as described and hey presto it's perfect ag again. Have the feeling that lanolin oil that we get here might last better without needing to apply grease.
Having a central locking issue ( incidentally right after I was placing king span insulation inside the rear door...) DONT!! I’ve pulled/ stretched a cable I recon and blew a fuse, only after I back tracked I had realised this. ( Central locking doesn’t work now ) when I replace the fuse, it does work ...only for a short time afterwards..until it blows again...I’m wondering if I have stretched a cable...also to add if I have blown the tiny door motor ( works the locking) and there’s a few of them. Do u recon the blown motor could be the fix / and or maybe a stretched cable/‘ I NEED help on this one....hopefully someone see’s this.
Thanks mine was getting stiff for first and reverse and i'm thinking oh dear big bill coming , so got young kid next door to be the wiggler quick spray of WD then a spray of motorcycle chain lube ( it's what i had in the shed ) and hey presto allsorted . Cheers .

Fantastic, can’t believe I’ve been struggling for a year, like driving a new van .
Thanks for the tip. I have a 1992 Fiat Ducato with the same issue, I will be giving her a bloody good grease tomorrow.
well done you and well done Millie. It worked for me and my wiggler was my wife.
Thanks. Just been quoted several hundred £££s to replace the entire cable assy.

3 in 1 anti sieze copper grease spray. Give it a good Shake befor use
@@brtaylor9503 thanks.. Really appreciate the advice.
Or motorcycle chain lube as it has a solvent base to penetrate and leaves the grease inside when it evaporates..👍
@@iancourt3274 I used gt 85 but that's not much difference according to the list of what's included. HOLTS do a spray grease which I have tried toda
Motorcycle clinging chain spray could work good here. It has grease dissolved in a penetrating spray. The spray evaporates leaving the grease behind!
Also chainsaw oil is good and cheaper too. Not sure if get spray version to get more into the spot
Brrrrrrrrilliant Mr wiggle that will help my gear knob wiggle better 😉😀👍👍👍
Thank you for this vid. It worked and saved me money
Your videos are awesome...thanks Milly 🏴👌
Brilliant video! More videos please!!!
Hi, my 2 year old ducato motor home bonnet won’t open on the lever, any ideas on how to get the bonnet open?
Thank you this is a problem I am having and will try it tomorrow
WD 40 will looseen, but not lubricate.
Use silicone after link r loose.
Thanks for the tip you saved me a pocket full of cash I fixed it all for £10 cheers guvnor fae The Big O
thanks
Works a treat now.
I never had chance to say thanks before the comment went through, again thanks.
Brilliant it worked for me thanks . Is it possible to fit a grease nipple to the pivot ?
Thanks good advice.
Great news, can't wait to try it out soon!!!
Do you have any suggestions how to change the off side front indicator light bulb not working, fuses are okay? Rick
This Guy; is a brilliamt presenter. Why usnt he making any more videos?
Thank you, I’ll give it a go
well done mate made it easy for me
Thanks, great help.
Thanks this helped me with wd40, what would be the best lubricant to spray on the linkage to help it stay free longer ? Thanks
Great video thank you

Brilliant stuff it worked perfect thanks a million.
big thank you job for a next week.
Spot on my friend
Cheers Dude, appreciate this!
Hi & thanks. Our Fiat ducato only stays in neutral. Lever moves but won't engage in any gear. Any ideas?

Hi there. Very useful info. Are the linkages cables?
Hi is there a similar bid for a Citroen Relay ? If not could you poss do similar ?
Thanks
Kinda right.
Nice work!
thanks mate
You are a god!
Good Video! Thanks.
WD40 dries out over time and turns gummy. Graphited penetrating oil might be better. (got some from lidl middle isle).
When I go from 2nd to 3rd gear in my Renault trafic the 3rd gear has an awful crunching noise is it gearbox or clutch
Excelent thanks for sharing!
Common issue on Vauxhall Agila/Suzuki splash
You said it would be fixed for life ?
Is that a guarantee ?
If not, could I see a copy of you disclaimer,
Kind regards Graham,
Hi I've got a Citroen Relay van that I'm converting into a motor caravan and I have the same problem however when I look at it looks different to yours you can't see the gearbox selector any ideas
Just subbed, you should do some more vids 👍
Legend.
hi, do you know what cure there is when my relay gears won't return to central neutral?Hits all the gears linkage seems ok
Hi did you find a fix for the neutral issue? My 2008 relay has just stopped returning to Central neutral position?
👍
Is this guy dead only two vids uploaded last 5 years???
Just to let you know wd40 is not an oilor lube its a cleaner penetrant come solvent
WD = water dispersant......
Well at least it fixed the main issue and slacked off the gear change, now u can re lube with whatever...🏴
hi i am having revers gear problem on my jumper 2.2 hdi .. when i try to put the revers gear it does not go in .. all other 5 gears are working whithout any problem.. can u help please
I have the same problem. How did you solve it?
How do you change the time in the motorhome?
Dave Jones with a flux capacitor...
Ffs get a life...
Hope you had a better time in the motorhome
Works for 20 minutes👎
Is that a manual gearbox
Of course it is... It has a gear leaver to select the gears !!!
Knobhead!! Of course it's a manual...
@@iancourt3274 your a lovely man
