    I think what is really important in this video is that you were prepared to stand by the deal, even though you broke your own rules about a pre purchase Vertical check! that’s honourable and quite rare these days. Reputation is hard to come by but easily lost and even more difficult to regain. Love your work.

    Before the video started I was convinced that the A3 was £500 as a CD was jammed in the stereo constantly playing "Agadoo" by Black Lace at maximum volume on repeat! Imagine the horror! As for the car what with it being a 1.6 petrol it will make for a great vehicle to take to railway stations, leave at the airport, or use for school runs, etc. what with it being tatty. Alternatively a good vehicle to teach yourself body repairs on. Good value at £1250, hope someone snaps it up. Thank you.

    the 1.6 litre BSE petrol engines on those older A3's could run for ages with no issues.
    VAG had really reliable engines before they introduced TSI/TDI/TFSI engines.
    500 pounds for one of those with no electrical problems is actually insanely cheap, you can make an insane profit just by taking it apart and selling its parts individually.
    has always been the case with VAG cars - reasonably cheap but original OEM VAG parts are insanely expensive.

    This looks to be a decent car, apart from the battle scars, however this goes to show how important it is to carry out checks, who would have known this car had been twice written off!❤️.

    • @brianwhittington5086
      @brianwhittington5086 Před 2 lety +4

      Modern cars get written off for what often seems like fairly minor accident damage. The complicated electronics, sensor systems and labour costs to replace such as a fully deployed SRS and airbag system can be the reason. It alone can make or break the margin for a car being repairable, or an uneconomical write off.

    This is why I love my 51 plate Agila, Had a new battery the day after I brought it. No electric windows, no central locking ( well at least not from factory, I put a basic one in to unlock the drivers door only) and apart from a £20 bluetooth cd player due to not being allowed to use our phone whilst driving (UK law for those watching abroad) from Amazon. Never had an issue. 71,020 miles.

  • @andylaauk
    @andylaauk Před 2 lety

    VAG cars nearly always show traction control and power steering lights after the battery has been disconnected, usually all you need to do is rotate the steering fully from one lock to the other. If power steering light doesn't go off, make sure there isn't a recurring ABS fault. Door module faults are nearly always down to flat battery or wiring to the doors.

On another note, no car battery will charge on tick over, it is simply not design that way, your are looking at minimum 1000rpm to put in what your getting out, 1200 plus to actually put a charge in. Good call. Nobody can say you have hidden the blemishes after this video and if you sell to a trader it will eventually go to a Retail buyer so you might as well go direct and offer it as a trade sale. Loads of people waiting ages for a new car will be happy to take it for a year or two. Personally, I am happy with a few dinks as I feel less bad when I add to them :)

    Considering it's age, that A3 has pretty low miles on it and as you said Rob, someone can get that car at a good price and run it till it's done in and it won't owe them anything. 👍😀

    Again nicely done, buying it at the right price helped, so if it did go the wrong way you had a bit of wiggle room. You've got nothing to lose by putting it on Insta and if it doesn't work out contact the traders. It's got a few marks but for that kind of money and mileage it's probably going to make a nice enough run around for someone.

    Based on my experience with VAGs: never remove any codes before you review all of them, even if majority of them are related to flat battery. Some codes might be some old but indicated ongoing issue with the car. I.e. my 2009 Audi A6 had issue with evap system however the error code pops up randomly once every couple hundreds miles.

But to get an A3 of that age and mileage that was undamaged with good bodywork would be at least three times the price Chris & Rob are asking for this one! Flying Wheels in the US is doing something like that. Started with $400 up to about $35,000 right now.

      That would be epic. Get Rob into a Seven so the lads can go do a track day together..
      Start with a stock standard 15 yr old Fabia or something.

    If you ever need to quickly know the year of a car that has a private plate on it, take a look at the information stamped in the bottom corner of the windows and there should be a number from 0-9 somewhere on it. The number corresponds to the year the glass was manufactured and is usually the same year the car was. For example 9 would be 1999, 2009 or 2019. Obviously, glass can be replaced so look at a couple.

    Thanks for another great video, I'd say the same as I do here when I sell equipment. If somebody knows the exact truth you know about something and they still want it sell it to them as is where is, you aren't out to screw anybody over intentionally like some out there are. I sold a machine here this week a customer didn't want to spend the money on repairing. It was like that car still too good to scrap, so I did it in my spare time and bought the parts to get it right.
    It priced at exactly what I had in it with my time and I told the buyer exactly where it came from and the whole history behind the deal. He was the first guy in the yard , wasn't wasting my time and would of paid full asking. I still knocked a bit off, because I wasn't going to spend a week dealing with time wasters before selling it either. Hope it sells of the lot for you, Take care.

    Another great episode gents and I think you are right Rob giving the Channel subscribers the chance to purchase it, fair price for a “Trade Sale” (I heard you loud and clear) as it has been written off before, but the mileage is such that it will be a great car for someone, Audi being a premier brand too. Thanks as always, keep it up.
