I appreciated beyond measure this important tutorial and each learning opportunity that you generously give. Your gentle teaching manner is as beautiful as your art, both genuine treasures. Thank you, Mr. Dolsma.
Thank you for the double compliment. Really pleased to hear you enjoy both my paintings and my teaching style!
OMG that little kitten is gorgeous! your painting is fabulous as always - thank you for sharing
Isn't she?
Glad to see your new companion. Cats and dogs add so much to our lives.
I agree. They do. She sometimes sits on my knee and just watches me paint. Never had a cat who did that...
Wow! Thank you 🙏🏼 Kitten is delightful. I think you are safe to say that you are a real artist!
Thanks, Debra! Yes, the kitten is delightful. She's a lot bigger and is now a ball of fluffy hair..
Wonderful! And the kitten is so adorable!
She is, isn't she...
Your videos are so soothing and I de-stress immediately. Your guidance is insightful and the kitty is the cherry on the icing!
That's great to hear. Thanks. The kitty has become a cat by now, but she is still the cherry on the icing!
Brilliant and adorable kitten
Yes, she is adorable. A lot bigger too, by now.

MASTER THE MASTERS.
Mis respetos y admiracion.
Muchas gracias, Antonio!
Hi Jan , I enjoy your work tremendously . As a fellow artist, the spatter technique used at 3:12 can also be achieved by using a medium bristle toothbrush with thinned paint for a more controlled splatter pattern. I was painting a pair of molded New York City library lion bookends to match the original granite and marble .The bases are a white granite with blue flecking with the occasional mirrored silver flecking . I layered the bases in all the colors of the granite then overlaid a random splatter technique in blue that worked very well. The mirrored silver flecking was achieved with glitter paint that I dotted with a very thin brush randomly. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.
Good to hear you enjoy my work! Thanks for sharing your experience with the splatter technique. What you describe reminds me of the old house painters techniques, like marbling or wood imitations. Very effective.
Congratulations on the new kitten! And beautiful work, as always.
Yes, she's great. Thanks for the compliment!
@@PaintingSkies1 Thank you for sharing your life work.

U deserve million subscribers. Good luck. 🙏🙏🙏 respect from Nepal, a country of Mt Everest and Buddha.
Thank you, Ramesh Rai. The landscape I paint is almost as flat as a pancake, quite the opposite of Nepal. All the more reason to be grateful for your comment!

OOOOOOOOOOOOO you make it look so easy.
Thanks, Kristina. Even though it may look easy, I'm still struggling, just like every other painter. The funny thing is that, when you put in the hours you'll get better. That's all you have to do...
Fantastic work
Very kind, thanks!
Amazing! It is so commendable of you to be so responsive to your viewers comments. Means a lot. God continue to bless your talented mind and hands. Thank you sincerely for sharing with us!
Thanks for noticing. I try to respond to every comment. People take the time to react to my videos, so the least I can do is let them know it did not go unnoticed.

Thank you! Our previous cat passed away last year. We've led a cat-less life for over a year, so it was time...
Amazing 👍🏻Thanks 👌🏻

Absolutely sublime Jan. You deserve way more subscriber's. And have these vids monetized.

One of my biggest inspiration painters of all time. I would love to see an exhibition of your paintings some time. I paint landscapes myself and just after 13 years, i got near your league. I just paint miniature and will soon start my YT channel.
Thanks, Tore. Curious about your work!
@@PaintingSkies1* I you have a email i can reach you on, i´m happy to show you a couple of my latest larger paintings. I´m starting now doing only small paintings, but i´m not a fast painter, so they take a while to make for me.

Prachtig werk !!

Congratulations! Fantastic as usual. And I´m glad to see your new very cute friend !
Thanks, Jacques!
Love your work. Most important question thou.......what's the cat's name. 👏😁🐈
Thanks, Marie. The cat's name is Sientje, an old fashioned Dutch name.
Beautiful as always Janhendrik. I'll be downloading tomorrow. I'm so happy you have a new assistant. I would still like to know what you use as a back support for your paintings so the don't warp. Hope your well my friend.
Thanks, Thomas! I'm very happy with my new assistent as well. Wrote an article on my blog about the back support for my panels: paintingcloudskies.blogspot.com/2015/01/canvas-or-board.html. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Curt. She just sits on my shoulder (and sometimes on my lap) and watches me work. Great cat.
@@PaintingSkies1 and a lucky cat! :)

Can we get a video on you wall easel set up? It’s beautiful.
There's not a lot to say about my wall easel. It's made of parts of used regular easels, that I accidentally ran into. There are pretty good wall easels available though and they look a lot less messy. For instance: www.dickblick.com/products/best-wallmount-easel/
❤❤❤❤
Thx!
thank , million like
Thanks, my pleasure!
Why did you use a stippler(?) On the sky?
GORGEOUS PAINTINGS!!
Thanks Jackie! I use a stippler to spread the paint and create smooth gradients. If you want to find out more about the brushes I use you could check my CZcams video '4 must-have brushes to paint clouds' (czcams.com/video/GPIV9y3j8Kk/video.html)
Just beautiful wish you did acrylics I am very allergic to all oil paints... saddens me.
Sorry to hear you're allergic oils. I wrote an article about oils vs acrylics on my blog: paintingcloudskies.blogspot.com/2016/08/oils-and-acrylics.html.
If you find the time you could read the comment on the article of an acrylic painter, with lots of tips to apply the glazing technique with acrylics.
Your ocean pic is sensational. Do u have a video on this to purchase? Tks. Nancy carney
Thank you, Nancy! The full length video is available for download at www.paintingskies.com/video.
First... Thanks but I appreciate more if you show us more.. I m eager to learn this Technique
Thanks, Tina. This is the trailer for the full length video (60 min.), which you can download at www.paintngskies.com/video.
Someday I would like to paint on a big campus like your size.
What's keeping you, Mickey?
What are you doing when you repeatedly tap the canvas with another brush?
That's a stippler. I use it to remove possible brush strokes. The next step is the badger hair fan brush to create a real smooth surface. For more details you may want to download one of my full length videos at www.paintingskies.com/video.
This is not a tutorial in the true sense of the word but at least some helpful pointers and guidance
You're right, it's the trailer for a tutorial (as mentioned in the video description). If you're interested in the full 60 min. tutorial, please go to www.paintingclouds.com/video.
