The Double O series is my personal favorite series. Right down to the Movie, where the movie has a "movie" inside it, complete with overacting actors. It's also the first Gundam series that has the First Contact trope.
"Tiffa, I believe in God" will always make the GX's first launch probably one of the most memorable ones. You don't really get full context from just these snippets alone, the first time you see the GX is with its failure in the 7th Space War in the prologue as it fails to save the 10 Billion people living on Earth from the Colony Drops. The second time you see it is in Tiffa's dream standing as an ominous figure. Once Garrod pilots it, it truly felt like it took on a new life. Basically what I'm saying is if any of yall haven't watched Gundam X yet then I highly recommend you do. It's uploaded fully on CZcams by a channel named JFFRY95.
neat little factoid: To this day, the ZZ Gundam has the longest operating time in universe. This machine is active even 50 years after its first launch in tthe lore, which goes to show what a beast it really was.

28:07 A little info about the Stargazer is that this is the only Civilian used mobile suit intended for space travel, and the backpack on the stargazer is used for propulsion making the MS move forward on its own and it doubles as a weapon as well.
For Strike Freedom, the music changed because it was the HD Remaster version. It's mostly changing some of the animation and changing the music of each part.

Ignore everybody calling the dub bad. Gundam is one of those series that's only made out of passion, which includes the dubs, they really cared to make them excellent and it shows in the performances. Some aren't dubbed. Also the first Gundam (79) has 3 compilation movies that complies that series, it's a pretty good alternative, because that animation is... well... dated lol. The main timeline is called the UC timeline (Universal century). Other Gundams like Age, Iron Blood, Seed, 00 are all separate so you can watch em whenever. Age's animation is simplified because it's made by "Level 5" a game company known for Professor Layton, Inazuma Eleven and Yokai Watch, that's their style for the most part. It benefits the animation/fight scenes, they go crazy. This video didn't have the Gundam Build series. CZcams has all the episodes last I checked. Sick series. Kids control Gundam Model Kits with some sick vr tech and it's flubbing amazing. Highly HIGHLY recommend "Gundam Build Fighters Try." Also 99% of Gundam's OPs & EDs go crazy and 70% of the OST are BANGERS. Ok I'll stop lol.
The thing about all Full Armor Gundams is people forget, yeah they have armor, shields, and weapons on it. But if they lose all that extra stuff they still have weapons and the main suit to fight with. A key example comes from Thunderbolt.

Might wanna check out the trailer or whatnot. Broke the 2024 winter Japanese Box Office, fyi. It's going to be on Netflix on September(?) I think. The series is available on Gundaminfo CZcams channel. Maybe. If they haven't taken it down yet for rotation with other series. I believe Iron Blooded Orphans and Witch From Mercury is also on Netflix, if you wanna watch those out of curiosity. It's the most recent and it's Alternate Universe anyway, so, no baggage there. If you wanna start from the OG, I believe the movie compilation of it is on Netflix, along with Char's Counterattack movie and the sequel to that, Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway (which is going to be another trilogy of film). Zeta, ZZ, 0080, 08th MS Team, Stardust Memory, Unicorn and NT is sadly not on Netflix. Just saying, in case you guys wanna get that core UC timeline experience.

Funny thing, I was in the military at the time and ordered the CD's while in the AOR. They actually got popular in my squadron for some reason. Had many people think they were from big budget Hollywood soundtracks until the J-Pop kicked in.
Personally I think you guys should definitely check out the latest entry of the franchise (The Witch from Mercury). It short (25 episode) and it came out pretty recently so it quite fresh in everyone minds and the story is really good.
It's terrible, gives Seed a run for it's money it how awful it is. Poorly written protag, and pants on head retarded premise, ends with a wimper. Waste of time all around.
interesting note of the origina lgundam. there was once a english dub of the origina lgundam trilogy movies but do to license reasons they stopped releasing those when dvds were made. for the series version it got new english voice actors. the original english voices for amuro (lead pilot/character of the gundam) was micheal lindsay who voices kisuke urahara in english dub of bleach till his death in 2019. the antagonist char the english voice was steve blum who later voices spike in cowboy bebop. in the new voices for the english dub anime version the voice of amuro is the same one that does english voice of kira/light from death note.

a bit late but kira rewriting the OS for strike kinda makes sense since he made that OS as a student project he dint know the program he was writing was for the gundam and it wasnt finished or rewrote by his prof. but prolly sacrificed efficiency so kira just rewrote it back to his code.
There are Compilation movies for Gundam and Zeta...Double Zeta kinda rough in the first few eps...then you can do the Char"s Counter Attack Movie...it you wanna have a feel of the Universal Century
If you're gonna start reacting to Gundam episodes, start with The Origin. It's a prequel to the first Gundam show but no context is needed. It eases you to the franchise by starting with modern animation. Once you're invested, the classic show will be so much easier to watch.
if you are up for it there is a set of spin-off series called Gundam Build Fighters and Gundam Build Divers its more light hearted as it is centered around the world/community of Gunpla model kits
If you really want to go down the rabbit hole on Gundam, here's a few short ones... MS Igloo _ Literally bandai experimenting with CGI in the early 2000's. Looks like a PS2's CGI, but interesting stories, all done in short story format. One follows a Federation Anti Tank squad learning how to deal with mobile suits. There are also videos around the same time period that came on DVD's in certain model kits that are cool and only a few minutes long. But if you really want to get into it, I'd suggest Gundam The Origin. It is the prequel to the 1979 show and explains why everything is happening and where the characters are coming from. Plus, it's recent and the animation is great. It's a series of movies, but it's a good way to get into it and know why everyone is in that place at that time on episode 1. 08th MS Team is a good one too. Think Vietnam with giant robots. And it's only 12 episodes I think, plus a new short they made a while back.

Mecha anime can be broken down into 2 major subgenres: "Super Robot" and "Real Robot". Originally mecha stories were much closer to IPs like Godzilla and Ultraman, where melodramatic characters would fight monsters and aliens, having a more fantasy-adventure feel about them. Gundam took mecha in a more grounded direction, taking a harder science-fiction approach and making their robots simple machines and weapons that humans used to fight other humans over political reasons. If you'd like to compare Gundam to the more hot-blooded, clench-your-fists-and-roar-from-your-guts Super Robot series, you should check out clips from shows like Mazinger Z, Getter Robo, Gunbuster, and Gurren Lagaan.

Hi from Jaburo. Out of UC Gundam OO are my favorite, but the best take off is Exia falling from the Sky, that happen again when the REDBULL make a guy jump from close the space.
So alot of Gundam is connected, that being 0079, Zeta, ZZ, Chars Counter Attack, F91, Victory, Thunderbolt, Igloo, 08th MS Team, 0080 War in A Pocket, 0083 Stardust Memory, Unicorn, Narrative, Twilight of Axis, and G Savior. It is known as the Universal Century named after the calendar system in the original Gundam. There is also an offshoot of Universal Century which includes The Origin, & Doans Island. I suggest for a first time watching you go through 0079 to Chars Counter Attack, then just go and pick U.C. shows or spin-offs that seem interesting. The Original Gundam has a legendary dub, with Brad Swaile as Amuro Ray and Micheal Kopsa as Char Aznable, they reprise their roles in Char's Counter Attack they are mine and many others definitive voices for the two! Fun fact the first arc of Robotech is Super Defense Fortress Macross which it's creator made because he wanted more Gundam, also the G1 Jetfire toy was Roy Fokkers Veritech from Macross/Robotech!

I love to watch Subs and with Dubs... well, it's always 50-50 with those. depending on the voice actors cause most dubs are not very good especially old ones. I'm glad that modern dubs are way way better now unlike before.
absolutely, the way I got into Gundam was the Dub via Toonami after school. Started with Wing, moved on to G-Gundam, and continued with the Original Mobile Suit Gundam (0079). all in dub, nothing wrong with it, I watch the newer Gundams in sub the the ones that got me going I always watch in dub. Same goes for FMA/FMAB, Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, and Dragon Ball/Z.

It's not "Strike Shutsugeki" playing in HD Remaster. It's "Kira, True to His Feelings". The movie compilations have another OST playing btw, and it's actually just as good as with Vestige.
Do not underestimate the Turn A it stand at the top of Gundam as the final apex of all Gundam universes. Tomino had made Turn A with the idea of it being the last Gundam the final ending to all gundam timelines like a nexus they all share. has literal space warping a world ending capable attack and advance repair nano bot technology. The reason everything in Turn A is 18th century is because the Turn A unleashed its ultimate attack that basically disintegrates any technology to sand it destroyed all civilization from Earth to Jupiter with the exception of the moon colony and reverted humanity back to the dark ages pretty much. The light of life special shows this as the Ghost of Lala and Anuro talk about humanity and its future.
Fun fact: Kira, the pilot of Freedom never aiming to the cockpit. He only disarm the enemies, he didn't try to kill them. He has killed 2 person. I by accident and 1 by purpose
Gundam has some really good dubs. OG 79 gundam is fantastic dubbed and the voice of Char the main antagonist is 10/10 in english. The only bad dub I can think of was gundam age but that's not a gundam anyone is rushing to try and watch. I hate Seed and Witch from Mercury so I'm more biased to the dub work on those. OG 2000s dub for Seed is better than the redubs though, I'll give them that. Also small correction. The Turn A gundam is the most powerful, but it's not the oldest, it's the last Gundam ever made. It sends civilization to the stone age with Turn A taking place something like 5000 years later when tech in the USA is finally returning and to the level of the 1930s.
Id say watching Gundam in Dub is perfectly fine theres a lot of good dubs for gundam like Gundam Wing G gundam Gundam Seed and my favorite Gundam 00 id love to see you guys bring gundam to the channel
Agreed especially for g gundam it’s one of the few animes where I have an active preference for the dub I’m usually pretty neutral on dubs but mark gatha’s voice is so good
I'm glad to see a fellow Seed enthusiast! It gets hated on so much but it's my favorite followed by 00 and Iron-blooded orphans. I will also never forgive them for changing the dub voices. Gundam Seed&Destiny, Solty Rei, Eureka Seven, Yu Gi Oh and Bakugan are the only animes I will watch in Dub.
Not fully watched yet of this video, SAY TO YOU NOW: Watch G-Fighter Gundam and Gundam Wing in English! Yes, the original in Japanese is amazing, no problems with either. However, I hate when people gate-block new anime fans by saying you have to watch subbed, *or else!* No need for that hate, especially if you want to recreate the 90's feel of Anim-aricano influence into your life!
The Stargazer isn't meant for Combat. It was created for space travel beyond Mar's orbit. Catching the Solar Rays for it's sails aka the "Voiture Lumiere" system on it's back for thrust.
It was practically a tradition for Gundams to be stolen, and used by people other than their original pilots. This is especially true in _Gundam SEED_ and _Destiny_ , where almost all the Gundams are stolen. Impulse, Destiny, Providence, Legend, Saviour, Strike Freedom, Infinite Justice, and the Mk-II's / Spec-II's are the only ones used by those they were intended for.

I commend your considering starting chronologically, because most look to the newer stuff first instead of the Paying respects to the Grand-daddy of the "Real Robot" genre of mecha. Mech Hour! I will always recommend Gundam 00, especially because it's got a great dub. Gundam IBO is great as well. For Super Robots: Gaogaigar and Rahxephon! The big thing about Gundam AGE is that its was co-developed with game studio Level-5, makers of LBX, Yokai Watch, Inazuma 11, and Megaton Musashi.
For original UC timeline it best to start with the movie trilogy. But for a really new to gundam UC timeline is a bit overwhelming though. For someone who really new for me the best is to start is Iron Blooded orphan.
The strike freedom first launch is disappointing on the remaster. Its less epic without vestige as the bgm. The original TV series has Vestige as the bgm on that scene.
Please watch at least Mobile Fighter G Gundam, Gundam The Origin and Gundam SEED/00 based on that I could recommend more, but the original UC timeline is great, just takes work to get into but Zeta Gundam/ Counterattack/ Unicorn is so worth it!
Cuz I think most build series's gundam are custom and they are kind of like a "toy(gunpla) sport like beyblade " anime. Which is just some kids enjoy playing gunpla battles.(build diver re rise do not count)

If you wanna start from the OG, I believe the movie compilation of it is on Netflix, along with Char's Counterattack movie and the sequel to that, Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway (which is going to be another trilogy of film). Zeta, ZZ, 0080, 08th MS Team, Stardust Memory, Unicorn and NT is sadly not on Netflix. Just saying, in case you guys wanna get that core UC timeline experience.
Also, Thunderbolt, while set in the same time frame as the OG, is actually, sorta, kinda, non-canon. Just to clear the confusion.

Funny thing, I was in the military at the time and ordered the CD's while in the AOR. They actually got popular in my squadron for some reason. Had many people think they were from big budget Hollywood soundtracks until the J-Pop kicked in.
Personally I think you guys should definitely check out the latest entry of the franchise (The Witch from Mercury). It short (25 episode) and it came out pretty recently so it quite fresh in everyone minds and the story is really good.
It's terrible, gives Seed a run for it's money it how awful it is. Poorly written protag, and pants on head retarded premise, ends with a wimper. Waste of time all around.
interesting note of the origina lgundam. there was once a english dub of the origina lgundam trilogy movies but do to license reasons they stopped releasing those when dvds were made. for the series version it got new english voice actors. the original english voices for amuro (lead pilot/character of the gundam) was micheal lindsay who voices kisuke urahara in english dub of bleach till his death in 2019. the antagonist char the english voice was steve blum who later voices spike in cowboy bebop.
in the new voices for the english dub anime version the voice of amuro is the same one that does english voice of kira/light from death note.
The 1999(?) Dub with Brad and Micheal is probably my favorite and the one I'd consider definitive.

a bit late but kira rewriting the OS for strike kinda makes sense since he made that OS as a student project he dint know the program he was writing was for the gundam and it wasnt finished or rewrote by his prof. but prolly sacrificed efficiency so kira just rewrote it back to his code.

If you're gonna start reacting to Gundam episodes, start with The Origin. It's a prequel to the first Gundam show but no context is needed. It eases you to the franchise by starting with modern animation. Once you're invested, the classic show will be so much easier to watch.
Stardust Memory is the Top Gun of Gundam. You will enjoy it.

If you really want to go down the rabbit hole on Gundam, here's a few short ones...
MS Igloo _ Literally bandai experimenting with CGI in the early 2000's. Looks like a PS2's CGI, but interesting stories, all done in short story format. One follows a Federation Anti Tank squad learning how to deal with mobile suits.
There are also videos around the same time period that came on DVD's in certain model kits that are cool and only a few minutes long.
But if you really want to get into it, I'd suggest Gundam The Origin. It is the prequel to the 1979 show and explains why everything is happening and where the characters are coming from. Plus, it's recent and the animation is great. It's a series of movies, but it's a good way to get into it and know why everyone is in that place at that time on episode 1.
08th MS Team is a good one too. Think Vietnam with giant robots. And it's only 12 episodes I think, plus a new short they made a while back.

Originally mecha stories were much closer to IPs like Godzilla and Ultraman, where melodramatic characters would fight monsters and aliens, having a more fantasy-adventure feel about them. Gundam took mecha in a more grounded direction, taking a harder science-fiction approach and making their robots simple machines and weapons that humans used to fight other humans over political reasons.

Out of UC Gundam OO are my favorite, but the best take off is Exia falling from the Sky, that happen again when the REDBULL make a guy jump from close the space.
So alot of Gundam is connected, that being 0079, Zeta, ZZ, Chars Counter Attack, F91, Victory, Thunderbolt, Igloo, 08th MS Team, 0080 War in A Pocket, 0083 Stardust Memory, Unicorn, Narrative, Twilight of Axis, and G Savior. It is known as the Universal Century named after the calendar system in the original Gundam. There is also an offshoot of Universal Century which includes The Origin, & Doans Island.
I suggest for a first time watching you go through 0079 to Chars Counter Attack, then just go and pick U.C. shows or spin-offs that seem interesting. The Original Gundam has a legendary dub, with Brad Swaile as Amuro Ray and Micheal Kopsa as Char Aznable, they reprise their roles in Char's Counter Attack they are mine and many others definitive voices for the two!
Fun fact the first arc of Robotech is Super Defense Fortress Macross which it's creator made because he wanted more Gundam, also the G1 Jetfire toy was Roy Fokkers Veritech from Macross/Robotech!

I love to watch Subs and with Dubs... well, it's always 50-50 with those. depending on the voice actors cause most dubs are not very good especially old ones. I'm glad that modern dubs are way way better now unlike before.

absolutely, the way I got into Gundam was the Dub via Toonami after school. Started with Wing, moved on to G-Gundam, and continued with the Original Mobile Suit Gundam (0079). all in dub, nothing wrong with it, I watch the newer Gundams in sub the the ones that got me going I always watch in dub. Same goes for FMA/FMAB, Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, and Dragon Ball/Z.

Do not underestimate the Turn A it stand at the top of Gundam as the final apex of all Gundam universes. Tomino had made Turn A with the idea of it being the last Gundam the final ending to all gundam timelines like a nexus they all share. has literal space warping a world ending capable attack and advance repair nano bot technology. The reason everything in Turn A is 18th century is because the Turn A unleashed its ultimate attack that basically disintegrates any technology to sand it destroyed all civilization from Earth to Jupiter with the exception of the moon colony and reverted humanity back to the dark ages pretty much. The light of life special shows this as the Ghost of Lala and Anuro talk about humanity and its future.

Kira, the pilot of Freedom never aiming to the cockpit. He only disarm the enemies, he didn't try to kill them. He has killed 2 person. I by accident and 1 by purpose
Gundam has some really good dubs. OG 79 gundam is fantastic dubbed and the voice of Char the main antagonist is 10/10 in english. The only bad dub I can think of was gundam age but that's not a gundam anyone is rushing to try and watch. I hate Seed and Witch from Mercury so I'm more biased to the dub work on those. OG 2000s dub for Seed is better than the redubs though, I'll give them that. Also small correction. The Turn A gundam is the most powerful, but it's not the oldest, it's the last Gundam ever made. It sends civilization to the stone age with Turn A taking place something like 5000 years later when tech in the USA is finally returning and to the level of the 1930s.

I'm glad to see a fellow Seed enthusiast! It gets hated on so much but it's my favorite followed by 00 and Iron-blooded orphans. I will also never forgive them for changing the dub voices. Gundam Seed&Destiny, Solty Rei, Eureka Seven, Yu Gi Oh and Bakugan are the only animes I will watch in Dub.

It was practically a tradition for Gundams to be stolen, and used by people other than their original pilots. This is especially true in _Gundam SEED_ and _Destiny_ , where almost all the Gundams are stolen. Impulse, Destiny, Providence, Legend, Saviour, Strike Freedom, Infinite Justice, and the Mk-II's / Spec-II's are the only ones used by those they were intended for.
