The Walt Disney Company self reported 4.8 Million views of the premiere of Disney Lucasfilm's THE ACOLYTE on Disney Plus. Disney claims its the biggest series premiere on Disney Plus of 2024 ... But there's a LOT of problems with that propaganda.
from Deadline:
‘The Acolyte’ Blasts Onto Disney+ With 4.8M Views In First Day Of Streaming
deadline.com/2024/06/the-acol...
The new Star Wars series launched on June 4 with two episodes, generating 4.8M views in its first day on the streamer. That makes it the biggest series premiere on Disney+ this year.

They're gaslighting so hard it can produce open flames in the vacuum of space.
😂 Comment of the Day 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Now I was mad about this but they have explosions in space in other projects. So I didn’t like it but it made semi-sense but it would’ve made more sense that once it was ignited, it was extinguished like in other media since there is no oxygen in space and fire needs that to burn for long periods of time.
@@acecummings8205 Apollo 13 proved fire in space are possible if there are resources and fuel. Like a giant ship filled with fuel and air, crashing into a giant battle station, exploding, and extinguishing shortly after.
@@BungieStudios I’m not saying it’s totally impossible because it makes sense if it’s on a cruiser type ship and there’s a big enough hit to tear a hole in the hull causing the air and oxygen to escape thus making the necessary conditions for a fire but it’s quickly shorted out afterwards once the conditions evaporate.
🤣🤣🤣
Where's that modern audience at? 😂

I (re)search for it since years, but no one has ever seen any at the box office! 🙄 It is easier to find the monster of Loch Ness or a Bigfoot! 🤬

The fallout from The Acolyte is proving to be more entertaining than the show itself.
fallout from these disney movies always is! it never disappoints!

Same as the last, well all of them from disney.
Disney lies about it's numbers. Again. In other news, water still makes you wet.
Guys just found out that fire hurts please continue to spread it, peace out bros!

It's an audience SO modern, it doesn't even exist yet.
An infinite loop of being a few seconds away from being brought into existence.
Just 1 more woke 💩 and they will start watching this shit😂😂any day now. Pretty sure I saw modern audience hanging out with poverty the other day!
This was the real mystery of The Acolyte, how Disney was going to spin this abysmal failure.
I think it fits the pattern. Hardly a surprise. Astroturf the critics, cook the numbers and if that fails call the audience bigots.
They will just lie about it. Then they will blame at some point: racism, sexism, homophobia, stupid white people, the position of the sun and fluoride toothpaste. Because it can never be their fault.

That’s all I care about with Star Wars now. They ruined one of my favorite film franchises, the only joy I now get out of it is watching those who ruined it fail spectacularly.
I have a theory that Disney is connected to the CZcams money and gets paid for CZcams videos so Everytime we see a video bashing their shows theyvget paid. Imagine if they have an incentive to make stuff that will spark hatred because angry passionate people will hate watch way more than if it was positive. I have watched like 25 videos of the stupid show so far 😂😂i bet you disney is sparking our anger because they figured out a way to monetize it 😂😂

This took FOUR YEARS to make!!????
four years being tormented in development hell of course. Queen Kennedy spared no expense for her masterpiece of spite and envy.
I think this was originally supposed to be a movie. Then the SW movies were put on hold, after that they turned it into a show.
@@Banzai51 we saw how that worked for the obi kenobi and boba fett movies, it doesn't always translate well.
Wish started being made in 2018 or at least germinated, and came out five years later and they still hadnt fixed its issues. This is just one thing they shouldve doen but eliminating four of the dwarf fill ins wouldve helped a little, all that serve the story are Dahlia (Doc), Simon (Sleep0y) and dunno what his name is (Grumpy). The Sleepy one is also weird because they claim he was more energetic before his wish was given up to the king but like hes supposed to represent the lethragic dwarf, odd choice. Sure he fits that role then but even so.
It's DEAD Jim....
LOL!
“4.8 million views” for TWO episodes. So 2.4 million minus all the bots watching for them…. 150k?
Disney gets very creative when it comes to their numbers. That's Probably what they want to keep Peltz from finding out.

It’s a perfect position to be in, he can walk away with a billion dollars in gain, or return whenever Bob Iger fs it up more.
Disney sits on a throne of lies!
Here's my question: how many of those 4.8 million watched BOTH episodes, and how many bailed before they'd watched both??
But it might be 2.4 million for EACH episode. It’s difficult to be sure given the way Disney obfuscates when presenting the numbers.
It could also be 24 million people who tuned out after 10% of the runtime@@eddiebruv
I couldn't get past 15 minutes of the first episode. It's woke garbage !! horrible casting and story
I watched the 1st episode. And stopped there. It's awful: like Twilight but not as good; or like mid-quality porn that somehow left the sex out. Too many of the actors are very young, none of them are very good, with the exception of Moss, who as you all know is gone in the first 20 minutes. Plot hole after plot hole, no world-building you can believe in, inconsistent with previous Star Wars projects. Embarrassingly bad. The story begins with a murder mystery. What do we get? We get a pseudo-investigation where neither DNA nor fingerprinting, nor even the most basic police procedure appears to exist. No security cameras or use of AI of any kind in this world. The future is starships and outhouses all the way, just ridiculous. I'm not even sure they have electricity and plumbing.
Inconsistency and implausibility are rampant: e.g., human "meks" do the maintenance on Starship exteriors... lol... it's like they've never seen a Star Wars movie before -- droids are famous for this work. Unbelievable dialogue, too much travel too little action. Other than the makeup on 3 of the characters, nothing in this series is good. Not even as good as Ahsoka. How can a system that produces Andor also produce this crap? An insult to anyone above the age of 4.
I'm just saying, when Disney drops two episodes of a show at once, you are supposed to feel that if they had just released the first epl there would be less compulsion to tune in next week, but because they dropped two, it allows you to see more. Example: The Mysterious Benedicat Society, first ep is kind of bonkers and where it ends its like, Why would I watch this?" Second ep is a little better tells you what is going on. Although in season two I asked myself a lot why I was watching that damn thing. Monsters at Work is another one, premiered with two episodes, if you just watch episode one there is no reason to keep going, at all. The second episode absolutely had to come out same day. And in fact, with that one, they released two episodes a weekend on Disney Channel before dropping it on streaming.
So I wonder, will the Acolyte go the way of Willow and get pulled for tax write offs?
I'll be civil, I thought it couldn't get worse for Star Wars, and I was proven wrong again. We are officially checked out from a galaxy far far away. I'll stick with pre Disney content...
It’s because of DEI quotas they forget their entertainment company not political propaganda company
Failure after failure. At some point you would think they have a board meeting and say hey we keep losing money why do we keep down this same road? And make some changes
I think it’s more for DEI to get more loans. I doubt they really care how well these do
Cultural mark schism isn’t about making money, it’s about destroying the icons of the old culture.
Bob Iger had the choice between five heads of studio to fire. Which one did he get rid of? The LEAST problematic. Sean Bailey. Most of the films in his department just copied original animated classics and the DEI casting was forced upon him. They didnt even let him make all the movies he wanted and which were in the contract if he got teminated, he would get to produce those, one of them being The Sword in the Stone, then another was new Pirates, they let him keep on with Tron:Ares but once that comes out he has topull off the Disney lot and never return.
It's not really such an accomplishment to have allegedly the biggest launch for Disney+ in 2024. It's not like they faced serious competition and it seems like they are manipulating the data.
Greater than X-Men'97...
... X-Men'97 may have been a good show in the eye of the beholder, but it never garnered enough viewers to help D+ compete with other streaming services... Note that they do not say 'better than that show on Netflix'.
TA is dead on arrival.
Agatha will receive these same boasting from Disney. Though it would be funny if Daredevil does, "Oh my gosh, this March release did better than anything on Disney+ in January or February!" "What came out on Disney+ in those months?" "Ummm..."
Trash in. Trash out.
You have to consider the "traffic accident" effect. I think a lot of people tuned in just to see how bad it really is.
This was my thought.
I’m one of those people. I want to watch it to see how bad is it? Yet don’t really care anymore and don’t want to give them any ratings.
I know it’s trash the last 10 projects were all Trash.
Not Andor that was good
That's exactly what this is. In the end, it's gonna go down like Rings of Power with less than 30% of the audience finishing the shows run. After the nuclear train wreck that is EP3, the numbers will fall off a cliff.
The Nikocado effect that's the one.
So a lot of the discourse prior to the shows release from those who had seen the first four episodes claimed that casual fans might buy into the first two eps or at least find it passable but then episode three will eject them.
@@winterwolfsden Wile E. Coyote fell of a cliff many times. Then when he tried to sue ACME, they shut him up forever.
I'm shocked they got almost 5 million views not unless those numbers are inflated much like the show runners and Disney's egos.
hate watching is still a thing although personally checked out for good when they dissed Gina.
Ashoka according to official Disney press release is 14m views on its premiere NOT a 5 day period so in less then 9 months they lose 8m views from a release to release.
Disney's numbers are as honest as their product is good.
It's like winning a race when you're the only competitor. Well done Disney 😅
4 million tuned in, said "yep - it really sucks", and tuned out
Im surprised 4 million people wanted to see this mess of a show.
4 million really isn't great, kids on tiktok get more views than that in an hour. 😂
I am more surprised that 4 million people still PAY for D+ subscription
Let's be real, if people are willing to hate watch Velma, it's not impossible.
Its even worse then that. The Acolyte is "Views" so the same person could have watched it multiple times. 4 million didn't view it. I bet it is much less then that.
Since you don't per per view there are sure to be many who let it play continuosly @@DavidH7479 just like some probably rated it 1/5 without watching it. This is the culture war after all.
Probably the closest competition The Acolyte has now in rating is Doctor Who and no one is watching either one of them.
26% NOW!!
It's actually 27% now, dropped a point in an hour
Wonder how long that will go before Disney demands a higher rating that will be frozen, like they did with Last Jedi?
It’s now 26%. I think I have made the right the decision in not watching this show.
Disney already knew it was a failure cause they cancelled season 2 even before Ep1 dropped.
because
"they already knew it was a failure"?
Viewership of this show beyond Episode 3 is going to be fire.
Fire in a vacuum of space, that is.
I suppose when your lead speaks of her dislike of certain people she can’t be surprised when those people don’t watch her show though I am aware this relates to a different film.
Wasn't there a rumor a couple of years ago that Disney had really questionable means of counting a view? Like only clicking the item from the menu but not watching it, or Disney's counting the number of family members in the household as separate views, something like that
Are they counting double the viewership, by saying if you watched the first and second episodes, that’s 2, instead of being honest with it counting as 1 view for the opening? Honest question. Because I had in the back of my head, this is why they released 2 episodes right from the start.
Came here to ask something similar. Is this views per episode? Or the total views?
Good point
My guess is per episode. So divide in half for most accurate number.
or multiplying by 5 by assuming every home who watched was a family of 5.
Well in all honesty most Disney+ shows release two episodes int he beginning now if its not a straight up entire season drop. I would say they started doing this for everything with Santa Clauses in December 2022 or maybe a little before with The Mysterious Benedict Society season two. Percy Jackson did it. X-Men 97, Willow, EVERYTHING.
Instead to watch the show and giving a bad assessment, why not unsubscribe Disney+? That's hurt "them/they" more than to give a click. This is the simpel language of capitslism. This the only way to stop Disney's hipocrisy. When the money is missing alot of people have to go and searching for a new job.
Typical for The Bob Iger Company... comparing apples with oranges with mangos with strawberries. If they used the same viewership criteria for all their shows, they'd be exposed as total money-losing failures.
Someone gotta tell Disney gaslights were replaced w incandescent lights a hundred years ago. They are single handedly keeping gaslight industry alive.
I really don't think Disney is even trying anymore to produce decent entertainment.
I suspect that somehow they get paid from the ads or something on CZcams etc so every hate video is payday for Disney so they are putting out stuff that will intentionally make people mad and make thousands of hate videoes about it lol. They get paid for it either way and might have more incentive to make it full of woke trash to provoke the hate. its straight up genuis 😂
I mean Inside OUt 2 might pass as decent. Even that awful trailer that came out this week, I mean there are decent animes I have seen which have ucky stuff in them too. Of course at this point I kind of feel like the "any anime that is decent can get watched" rule needs to be axed. After that golfing anime from this season and the vampire princess one, would be better to stick with stuff that is actually good.
@@kipolem53I worry that they are going to ruin inside out in some way though 😂

The moment I heard her “Moms” had died I went back to catching up on house of dragon 😂
Seems to me the measure isn't how many may or may not have watched but how many NEW subscriptions resulted? Any other number than subscriptions is totally useless.

Will there be toys to decorate store shelves? I call the show The Sack O' Shite. (So it rhymes with Acolyte)
There was no toys for Ahsoka. This won't have them either I think.
From what I understand, Hasbro is on the verge of bankruptcy and are NOT producing anything for Disney SW unless it’s for the OT/PT.
No. Only sex toys for the intended audience. All monogrammed with LH.
Oh, you reminded me, nine months from now, the world will be blessed with dolls of Rachel Zegler! In her Snow White outfit. Unless they push the movie to June for Moana live action's previous date.
Its the worst thing I have ever seen they need to fire everyone who was involved in making that trash

Thank you for exposing this.
There is no way in hell between marketing and filming budgets and cast and crew payroll that they have made any profit off of Star Wars since they spent so much buying it from Lucas
That's $37.5 per viewer...Disney + premium only pulls in $13.99
brilliant analysis
Its the cheapest streaming service. Max just went by a dollar per month because they have ONE hit show coming. Penguin might be a hit too but still. And also, they deleted Powerpuff Girls, Ben 10, and EEE exactly four years after launch, which was a week before they raised the price.
Do the Investors have any Right to know the actual viewership information? How is this information hidden?

Even if those figures are accurate, people obviously watch first episodes of anything on the off chance something may be good, so those initial figures always skew the truth. It's how many stay viewing that matters...but Disney knows that. As a lover of The Wheel of Time book series, I suffered through season one of Rafe Judkin's abomination before I called it a day. How can Disney expect to make money with any project that probably caters for about 10% of the audience? The numbers drop even further when you factor in that even within that 10%, there will be those who aren't fans of the Star Wars franchise. This ridiculous trend has cost Disney a fortune over the past three or four years, but they seem intent on continuing down the road to ultimate destruction. I wonder how long it will be before people will be saying, "ah yes...I remember Disney".
Correct. Amazon did this with Wheel of Time. The S1 premier release (3 episodes) was the number 1 streaming show in the world and Amazon shouted that from the roof tops. But when episode 4 released the following week, the ratings crashed by live 70% and keep going down after that and Amazon said nothing the rest of the season. Many book fans like me, gave it a chance and then said f this after the 3rd episode.
never full trust critics ratings.
That's a truth that I've known for a LONG time now. They are literally paid to support anything. I'd never trust someone's opinion who is clearly capable of being bought. Goes for all manner of things. Sure would be nice to have a NON-BIASED media company, newspaper, or show. At least something in the main-stream.
Oh good! I can't wait for season 2 then! 😂

Very interesting question. A streaming service with theme parks... tricky to assess the success of one part of one part of one part. But if the streaming service is not making much money, then an expensive project like this has to be a problem. Dial of Destiny bad...
@@gameburn178 and nonexistent toy sales which is the best metric.
Yes if theyre claiming 4.8 Million views in 24 hrs, that would mean 200,000 viewers watched it in each hr. Which would akin to a broadcast network or cable/satellite network watching within that time. Worse when its 2 episodes and have 2 different slots for Nielsen to calculate. Then you have to go farther since its worldwide and divide by the number of nations that has Disney+. Until the real fact sheet comes out.

Yeah that's cuz about 4.6 million people watch the first 10 minutes and decided they needed to drink themselves into an oblivion turned it on and then fell asleep in the second episode played in the background while they slept completely passed out in a deep well of sadness over what has become Star Wars

As a 54 yo fan it literally breaks my heart to see the state of a SW. Ever since I saw ANH at 7 in 1977 I was a fan....until Disney got a hold of it and destroyed it (outside of seasons 1 and 2 of the Mandalorian and Rogue One).

Well, I’m back inside from watching grass. What’d I miss?!
So if Disney+ has 150m paid subscribers and only 3% cared to watch the show, I guess that’s your “modern audience” watching.
They are counting multiple views for people that watched multiple episodes. Which is why we aren't getting movies, the view count would be drastically slashed.
