Meet our 2024 RMIT University Honorary Doctorate - Jimmy Pham​ | RMIT Vietnam

RMIT Vietnam is proud to announce Mr Jimmy Pham as the 2024 RMIT Honorary Doctorate recipient. An Honorary Doctorate is a rare privilege and is awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to the community. The recognition signifies a life of impact.​
Jimmy Pham is an RMIT alumnus, the former Vice-President of the Australian Chamber of Commerce (AusCham) in Vietnam, a visionary Vietnamese-Australian entrepreneur who has transformed the lives of marginalised youth in Vietnam through vocational training and employment opportunities, and the 2024 RMIT Honorary Doctorate recipient. ​
In 1999, Jimmy founded Vietnam's first social enterprise, Know One Teach One - KOTO, a pioneering social enterprise providing hospitality training for more than 25 years. KOTO has now transformed the lives of more than 1700 individuals, empowering them to support themselves, their families and their communities.​
The announcement is made with the supporting of celebrity chef and restaurateur Luke Nguyen, who also received an RMIT University Honorary Doctorate in 2019 for his culinary contributions to both Vietnam and Australia.​ “Receiving an RMIT Honorary Doctorate was and still is an immense honour and privilege for me. It signifies a life of impact. So, seeing Jimmy Pham, an extraordinary individual, receive this prestigious honour fills me with immense pride. ​
I can't think of anyone more deserving of this recognition than Jimmy. He is a visionary, a compassionate leader, and a lifelong learner.” Luke said.
