  • Monandavan on the site of the legendary Battle of Monandavan which may have taken place prior to the Battle of Cruden Bay during the reign of King Malcolm II. The Danish army was said to have been decisively defeated and during the ensuing rout made a last stand on the hill of Mortlach near Aboyne where they were slaughtered to a man. The "Bloody Burn" on Mortlach marks the place.

Lovedyour piece and the history. Is it possible that Robert Farquharson (saddler) may have occupied one of the cottages in 1851?

It's certainly possible as Farquharson was a common name in the district but I've no idea if Robert Farquharson did.
