This opening cinematic finally feels a lot more meaningful now that *_Ever Crisis_* actually let us spend some time with team Green Matcha Tea. I really hope that some form of this preliminary story content will continue to exist, since the *_Ever Crisis_* story takes place after all of this.
It's really unfortunate that this game was around for such a painfully short period of time, but with *_Ever Crisis_* officially coming to Steam, maybe there's a glimmer of hope that some day it could potentially be given a real chance with the overseas audience it didn't keep as a mobile game.
If this is how SOLDIERS are picked from the grunts, it makes sense that cloud couldn't make it

I seriously doubt anything in this game is canon but, then again, this is square enix and they love tarnishing final fantasy so who knows.

I like the team of Glenn, Matt and Lucia, I just wish we would get a more meanignful game that First Soldier or Ever Crisis, a game like Crisis Core to wrap their stories.

Man, I know the mobile market is popping in Japan but I wish Square would put some of their mobile releases on console. We already lost Mobius forever... This game, Opera Omnia, Brave Exvius, Dimensions and a few others all deserve console ports.

@@glydoughnut9432 Dimensions (Not Dimensions 2, but the first one) should absolutely be put on PC and Consoles. It had a DLC structure like FFIV: The After Years, but it can be released as a feature complete game now.

Legendary bgm! The choir section within the remix of 'Let the Battles Begin' was epic! Square's music team continues to be a shining star!
I'm not a fan of Battle Royale, but this looks good enough to at least try out. I wish there was a FF MMO with a deep story like XIV, but with action gameplay.

Ya know this makes the fact that Tifa fist fights these kind of monsters more impressive. Pretty much the only other people that would do that are super soldiers.
To this day, I wish they would elaborate how Zangan's training made Tifa so powerful.

Wow, this is actually pretty impressive for a budget title. The animation style reminds me of Necrobarista; a sort of "living comic book" where the camera pans through what are basically 3D-rendered comic panels. I'm glad the designers understood their limitations and worked with what they had to create an appealing ultra-stylized look, rather than trying (and failing) to emulate the animation style of FFVIIR.
Though, I admit it's weird to see that Necrobarista style right alongside scenes which do seem to be fully animated. Maybe they were already fully animated for the next mainline installment, and it was actually more expensive to unmake them into comic-bookish scenes?

The cutscenes they showed seem very expected for a mobile budget title. Was honestly not impressed. Felt cheap.. ESPECIALLY for a SE trailer.

Just to let y'all know. This game just announced it's end of service. It's been a whole year since it launched and now it's getting deleted.
So I was right ffvii takes place in like 2007, so this takes place in 1989 making sephiroth twelve years old by then.
So he was not the first soldier persay but he is the first successful soldier created, in lore he was already in Shinra and such.
Now we get to see more or less how the program started

You know I’m not usually a fan of mobile games, but after getting into Fire Emblem Heroes, I’m more willing to try them and I definitely want to play this now.
I suggest trying the other final fantasy mobile games. Dissidia opera omnia. Brave exvius. record keeper

@@RasenRendanX I actually have Brave Exvius and Record Keeper! They're not bad at all, but I have enjoyed FE Heroes more so far. I love the CGI attacks in Brave Exvius, and some of the remixes in Record Keeper are really beautiful.

It's funny how despite the outcry or discourse of Square handling/milking FFVII related games/apps, I still will never tire of seeing that upwards shot of Midgar. Truly one of the best settings for a video game ever.
But back to reality...SE could have made an interesting prequel involving the SOLDIER program. Could have been DLC for VII remake or a completely separate-ish entry. Instead, it's a fucking mobile-BR game. My thought would have been a something like a XCOM-like game with different classes. But no. you guys went with a dying fad for a quick F2P buck. What a waste.
TBF they obviously didn't approach this is as "We want to make more FF7 games, what genre should we try? Oh I know, a Fortnite/PUBG rip-off! That's what J-RPG fans love!"
It was very much "We need a battle-royale game to make a ton of money, what franchise should we desecrate in order to utilise brand power to sell it??"

Square enix has gone down this road of chasing fads and milking their main franchise for everything it's worth instead of trying to maintain some semblance of quality and they haven't developed anything of worth in like over a decade other than ff14, which was initially a massive flop.
This game sounds like a total failure, like just about everything square enix does these days.

SQUARE and Sony put Final Fantasy The First Soldier on PS4 and PS5 and and leave it on mobile with Playstation support. I don't wanna see this game die. I'll become a CZcams/ Playstation streamer and promote it better than all your other content creators. Just put effort into console version and prompt it differently. Compete with fornite and other BR games. Don't give up.

I wish they made a movie similar to Advent Children about the entire formation of SOLDIER................It would've also been AWESOME if they made that Blond MP that became a SOLDIER, the husband of Elmyra, Aerith's adoptive mother, that fought and died in the Wutai war. Some of the characters here reminded me of other characters; kind of like their ancestors, parents, etc. There was definitely characters that reminded me of Hojo, Cloud, Yuffie, Zack, Sephiroth, Angeal, and Genesis.
Hum, I think that Hojo IS Hojo, and not an ancestor 😅 I mean, it's only 30 years before FFVII, so it kind of makes sense that it's Hojo.
I think I also saw Hollander (I don't know how to write his name sorry) just before seeing Hojo.
That is Hojo, and Gast, Lucretia, and Hollander are there too. The scene of Hojo with the gun is him killing Gast in front of Ifalna and Aerith. This is Project: 0, when they first started experimenting on people with Jenova Cells to create the first SOLDIERs. After this is Project: G, which created Genesis and G-Type SOLDIERs, and then Project: S, which created Sephiroth and S-Type SOLDIERs.
