I see even as a young lad Sephiroth had a penchant for standing menacingly in the middle of fires.
Talk about foreshadowing right. 😁
And he's the best at it too. He earned the right lol
Even his mother knew that he would one day stand among the flames.
Its because hes so cold🥁tss.
He's just trying to warm his ice cold heart give the guy a break. 😅
I like the idea of Sephiroth going like, "This weapon is too short. Very inefficient. A 7 foot sword should suffice."
Facts!😂
Then his 2nd thought would be: "A 7 ft. sword isn't badass enough, I need longer hair to boot."
If that's the case his third thought must have been "I need a long jacket to match my long hair and sword" 🤣
I read somewhere that he uses the masamune to handicap himself.
🤣☠️
That man just took a bag of doves everywhere he went and dumped them out right before he appeared anywhere.
Like director John Woo.
Or maybe the doves follow him around.
Naw, just a Flock of Doves summon materia.
I think it’s kind of symbolic too that there are white feathers coming down when he makes his first appearance compared to his black wing/feathers that he’s known for once he turns evil 😈
0:35 The missles that Sephiroth sliced didn't just miss the main group, but also hit the Wutai soldiers that you can see behind them. Sephiroth really did consider everything.
Hot damn! Good catch.
His battle IQ is just insane
I didn't even notice it'd been cut, i thought it barely just veered off course. I had to look hard to see it split in two. So..wow.
Those are Rhadoran soldiers, not Wutaian soldiers.

The biggest takeaway that I think is interesting about Young Sephiroth is that it also indirectly gives some more weight to just how terrifying Jenova is, too. In the Kalm flashback Sephiroth mentions that she has 'superior magic' and so Sephiroth in this scene casting Fire 3 right out of the gate really puts it in perspective that he didn't grow into his power -- he was always a bit of a monster and only as an adult figured out why.
Not just Fire-3/Firaga, straight up ALL FIRE-3/FIRAGA. I thought that was only posisble with materia! (To be fair though, one of the meteria he had at the time might of been the All factor mteria.)
@@yorhaalmnot on his sword. Theres only one pair materia spot and its both magic materia, all is a darker blue. If he had all paired to fire 3 itd have to be on his accessory

Faster than the eye can see. Guy is just terrifying. Even if he’s on your side look what he did effortlessly as a kid. I’ll never understand how he lost. The gap between him and everyone else is like pond compare to an ocean.
@@tristanward9937 plot. Honestly, I can accept him being defeated by several strong enemies at once. But Cloud's lame ass soloing him and winning every time is stupid. Cloud is strong, but not like this.
@@TheGlo0m These cinematics are meant to be wow moments, don't think too hard about how it's logical within the universe.
@@TheGlo0m To be fair, Cloud has only fought him twice. Once in the Northern Cave, when he was arguably at his weakest since he had been beaten up by the whole gang in his two previous forms, with Cloud most likely getting a little push from the Lifestream to end it for good. Second time is in Advent Children where Sephiroth is likely not back at full power, since he's only "grown" back from Kadaj fusing with Jenova. And there again, it could be argued that the Lifestream helped Cloud a little bit with Aerith curing his Geostigma in the Church then with Zack giving him a talk before the final Omnislash Type.5.
As for the Sephiroth we see at the end of Remake... I'd rather not talk about that shitfest of an ending. But we could argue it's just Jenova doing what she does best during the events of FF7.
What i love about Sephiroth as a character is that he has never been shown to struggle in battle. Even though he has been defeated,he was ALWAYS winning prior. It really gives a sense of invincibility to him.
When he went full blown villain he fell into the villain trope to underestimate his opponent and gloat at them.
wouldn't you ? if ur existence was that of a demigod wouldn't you look down on this pesky mortals that struggle with everything @@mediademon90
@@kingvejita8827That's what I'm saying. Sephiroth always had a bit of a superiority complex, as we saw in Crisis Core with Angeal and Genesis. He was their friend, but he was the better fighter and had no problem constantly reminding people of that. THEN he learns he's actually some half alien being, created to be exactly what he was: strong. That made his superiority complex go through the roof. He wasn't a human anymore. He was above them, and had a life time of experience proving to himself that he was.
No...?@@kingvejita8827
@@kingvejita8827 Well if it was me I would feel alone but try to help out as much as possible. Because Sephiroth wanted friends and Zack was the last one and closest to have as a friend. Since everyone wanted a piece of his fame and spotlight.

So Sephiroth has been practicing turning around standing in fire since he was young. That's why he's so good at it.
I'm surprised that so many people are surprised by Seph being powerful as a kid. He's literally a bred super soldier. Him coming out of the gate powerful was kinda the point. On top of that, he's spent his whole life training in swordsmanship and magic, so this is what we should have expected even if it was never shown.
Also growing up in the Shinra labs being experimented, tested and upgraded on must’ve took a toll too. Like Glenn says they’re physically modified.
@0YourGuardian Glenn was going off of pure jealousy, not facts. Glenn is a hypocrite himself as well because we got a sneak peek of how they were made as well, being put in mako tanks. He's just mad Sephiroth is better than him. Sephiroth was injected with Jenova cells while he was still a fetus and that's why he's superior to the rest of SOLDIER.
I'm more surprised about him looking exactly like cloud with silver hair
Woulda been cooler if he seemed more inexperienced with his power and less confident.
This is basically adult Sephi lol
I doubt anyone is surprised at all I don't even know what you're talking about. Just sounds like you wanna talk about sephiroth and jerk him off a bit. Which is fine obviously but nobody who is actually a fan of this series is surprised

Soldiers: Who are you?
"I'm Young Sephiroth"
YUNG SEPHIPHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
You can tell it's him when he was young since his hair, Coat, and Sword aren't as long. They all get longer as he ages. It's lucky he died when he did. If he lived longer he would become a male repunzel with a coat he would constantly trip over and a sky scraper sword. Perhaps it was a mercy he died young.
😂 Okay now I want to see an old version where his hair, coat and sword cover the world 😅
we all know longer hair is more powerful, we learned this in DBZ
You don't know that. For all we know, an elderly Sephiroth might have had a receding hairline.

@@brettzforeman would his sword and coat recede along with his hairline?
Literally the definition of a one-man Army
The definition of quality over quantity.
Sephiroth is terrifying in that the only reason he even loses in any capacity, pre and post Jenova fusion is when he was mentally vulnerable, and that he chronically never considers anyone a real threat, never giving it his all.
Technically, he kind of wins the moment he's tossed into the Lifestream in the Nibelheim Reactor, since from that point onward he's fused with the planet and is, in a sense, immortal. Keeps coming back like an annoying rash just to monologue at Cloud and wreck Midgar again every few years. 😆

Well, uh... I suppose, yes...🫣
🌭
Let's... rephrase that.
This scene adds so much depth to the story on so many levels. Further emphasizing the simmilarities between Shinra and some real life governments waging wars on foreign countries and sending soldiers to their assured death, Sephiroth is displayed here as the weapon of mass destruction he was always supposed to be. An unstoppable force, trully a monster, the perfect soldier. He really was a chemical weapon built on a lab. This scene portrays him as heroic to the poor soldiers who were in this position, but the undertones of how incredibly dangerous he could become if he realized what he could do are clearly there.
But this also paints a much more tragic vision of Sephiroth. He was used as a weapon as such a young age, he seems proud on killing things so effortlessly, showing how Shinra taught him to find value on killing. When he turns around and looks at his comrades and we get our first glance at his face we see those snake-like eyes and that sharp smile. He is not human, not trully. He's never been. But they lied to him in order to use him.
The white feathers at the start also remind me of Griffith, from Berserk, a character that shares many simmilarities with Sephiroth in terms of concept and aesthetics. But it's also hinting us towards his path. From an angel descended from heaven to save those in need, to a heartless angel bound to destroy creation.
This was amazing to read💪
@@awakenedclaymore8097so you are saying like Griffith he did nothing wrong.
The Griffith comp is a fascinating one that should get talked about more, the parallels between the two are eerily similar.
It's a game, bro. Stop trying to relate it with our reality.
Are you like scared and stuff? I mean FF7 is real somewhere in the parallel universes.
Sephiroth is totally like tearing stuff up somewhere. We have to talk about this stuff and the stuff. Come on.
I really hope that we get more scenes of young sephiroth, hopefully him trying to have some camaraderie with people. He strikes me as the kind of character that would absolutely walk into a room seeing people arm wrestling, be invited to participate in being excited at the idea of playing something with regular people only to irreparably damaged someone with his lightest effort. I want to see the tragedy
He isn't like that at all. Hes sociopathically isolated and emotion lacking. It makes him seem like he just doesn't see a benefit inbeing attached to anything. He only displays emotion when seeing or talking about Jenova
@@OMGCMFno in Crisis Core when he is younger you can tell he has an ego but he isn’t evil. His isolationism is directly related to early trauma he accidentally hurt someone close to him or just other members of Solider. Then he started keeping his distance and realized people were afraid of him eventually resenting some of them for probably being too weak.
@connordutton674 Yeah I was going to say that too and add in that Angeal and Genesis (later Zack) were the only ones near enough to his level to work with him and not be grunt escorts. Basically the people closest to him while isolated died and zack (who was more like the little brother of his friend relationally than his actual friend) couldn't really help him keep it together. Sephiroth truly is the Darth Vader of the FFVII universe.
Final fantasy is based parcial from Star wars
More like he is the Dark Avatar Anakin from FF7 universe tbf but yeah, pretty much
Then Obi wan as Zack and Luke as Cloud
No, he's so much more than that. Him and Vader have no similarities other than being the flagship villains of a beloved franchise.
@@wilykat There are a ton of similarities between Vader and Sephiroth! If Final Fantasy VII hadn't released two years before the prequel trilogy, I'd believe that Sephiroth's backstory was directly inspired by Vader's. It's not like there aren't Star Wars references in VII already.
They're both fallen angel-type characters, great warriors who betrayed the organisations they worked for (the Jedi, Shinra), slaughtered a bunch of innocents (Nibelheim, the younglings), and then were defeated by people less skilled than them due to their arrogance (Obi-wan, Cloud.)
Anakin fell into a lava pit, Sephiroth into the Lifestream. Both "died" in a sense and were "reborn" afterwards, weaker and stronger than before. Vader was physically scarred from his duel on Mustafar and lost some of his Force potential, but his iron suit made him more deadly and terrifying. Sephiroth perished in the reactor but was able to influence events in the world as a lingering spirit in the Lifestream.
Both serve masters more powerful than they are (Palpatine, Jenova) and have a strange obsession with their mothers. (Anakin's love for his mother was a major factor in his downfall.) Both were created through unnatural means (it's implied that Anakin was created by Sidious through the Force, whereas Sephiroth was created via the Jenova Project), and neither had a relationship with their father growing up. Sephiroth didn't know that Hojo was his father, and Anakin probably never figured out that Sidious or Plagueis was his father.
They're both tall, imposing and like to dress in black leather. The differences are that Sephiroth never has a romantic relationship (or, indeed, a relationship of any kind, apart from his friendship with Zack), and doesn't try to overthrow Jenova or redeem himself at the end. Although who knows, the Remake project could well be heading in that direction.
[EDIT: Oh, and they both have legendary theme tunes.]
Imagined being witness to such power, whether you are protected or not, such a sight in actuality would be positively terrifying! I love this scene because it highlights so much: the shear awe Sephiroth inspired, the mismanagement of science, and at it's heart the morality questions flying all over! Is it any wonder Sephiroth chose the fate he did? Is any wonder that he becamed so feared even before the revelations were made?! Mind boggling and such fantastic writing! FF7 story is one of the best in the world. It really is.

@WorldOfLimbo Because the writers confirmed he always holds back after the nibelheim incident. As you can see here when he was a kid, he went for the kill as fast as possible since he wasn't particularly a bad person nor evil.
After he loses his mind, he starts toying with everyone, making them suffer as much as possible for as long as possible. He enjoys seeing people crumble and kneel before him because he becomes an awful evil person after discovering he is not entirely human, and that overconfidence is his downfall multiple times. Now we can team up and defeat JENOVA and get my body and my destiny back, and I'll work tirelessly for the rest of my days to undo the evil she carried out using my body over these past many years!" or something.
