Another fab video stephen. I used to live in fleetwood on victoria street with my mum, nan and grandad, i miss it and really want to come back. Such a shame about the pier, i remember going for a drink with my grandad on the pier a year or 2 before it burned down 😪

Our bowling club from Bollington in Cheshire used to book a day out at the Marine Hall to use the greens. We then had a evening meal in the Hall, followed by a visit to Fleetwood Working Mens' club for entertainment. This was back in the mid/late seventies.
Our club was owned by a paper company, part of a group of other companies with bowling clubs in Lancashire and Yorkshire.
It was an annual match for a cup commemorating the Queen's coronation and was funded by the company's Group.
All these businesses have long since closed.
I was the club secretary then and still am, and have recently written an article of these days out for our club newsletter.

Used to holiday there as a child in the 1950s,my dad who worked for the railway could only take his holidays in May or October,I don’t think we Ever took our coats off outside it was freezing but still enjoyed it,it seems to have changed a lot since I was last there. The IOM steamer used to sail from there and the Railway Station was open in those days. I seem to remember the beach was a lot more pebbley than it looks today,we used to stay with Mrs Unsworh in Borrowdale Avenue as I remember it but it was a long time ago.

Played several times in the Marine Hall at the Brass Band Contests... in fact, Fleetwood was both my first and last Brass Band Contests.
I managed to get a tour of the basement of Fleetwood Pier around the year 2000. It was absolutely chock-full of old arcade machines, sad enough to lose the pier but all that nostalgia and potentially rare or even unique historic items that most people didn't even know were there gone too.
