    I own use and love both the "Combo" powered belt system and the "Field" sharpener device, the latter being my most highly recommended sharpening setup ever, for anyone, for any reason. It is so functionally diverse and portable - there's little to no chance of it dropping off of my top 3 sharpeners in my lifetime.

    I use the exact same two tools for all my sharp things. Such a great set of tools. I did buy some compound rods that I brok up and hide inside the magnetic storage area for the strop.

    Only Taylor can get me to watch a video about a product I own, and make me want to get it out and tune up my edge 😅
    I went for the Field Sharpener personally because it works best for the types of knives I prefer to use. The smaller options that are discussed at the beginning certainly have their place, but I find them tedious to use. The larger options are probably faster, but the Field Sharpener is perfect because it fits in one of the slim pockets in my NutSac Satchel Pro 😎
    The bag isn't necessarily on me at all times, but it's my very basic B.U.G. and sits in my vehicle or close by wherever I go.
    Now sitting back for the rest of the video 😁

    Your review is well done. It is apparent you put time into learning about each Work Sharp product. A few weeks ago I bought the knife and tool sharpener Ken Onion edition. You confirmed that I made a good decision. It does take practice especially for a left hander like me but my knives are amazing sharp now. So just wanted to say thanks for your video. One again.......well done. Have a great Thanksgiving!

  • @MrTuffCookies

    I have the guided field sharpener and the Ken Onion powered sharpener. Both seriously incredible products. There was a slight learning curve (as with anything sharpening, though, and this one was fairly short), but now I can get wicked sharp edges in no time with the Ken Onion sharpener. The guided field sharpener was so good I used it for a few years and it was still working great so I gave it to a newbie knifebro and bought myself another one. I'm going to get many more as gifts this holiday season. I don't think I've ever gotten a better value anything, ever haha. For $20-30 it's seriously crazy how effective, though-out, and well-made it is.
    Pointer to those looking to use the KO powered sharper: I wrap the heel of the blade and the leading edge of the scales with Coban bandage wrap (or some similar product) because it only sticks to itself so it doesn't leave any tape residue on the knife, it's grippy, and most importantly it's fairly thick and durable so it protects the scales from the abrasive belts.

    Great video man. This is how you review a product. That was a very knowledgeable review. I have the field sharpener and it works great, no gripes about it at all. For the Swiss Army knives that I make, I use the Spyderco Sharpmaker to bring back that edge after acid etching and tumbling them. It looks like the Ken Onion Angle Set is the comparable product. I'm digging how they rotate instead of needing to swap the rods out. A little trick for you, instead of moving your hand over to sharpen the other side of the blade, slide the sharpener so your hand is always in the same position.

  • @subwoofer6726
    @subwoofer6726 Před 4 lety +4

    Damn thanks for this video dude. I have been wanting to get into knives, but my biggest fallback has always been consistently maintaining angles because I am so bad at muscle memory for knife sharpening. Properly integrated guides seem to be an elusive feature and most companies , if they add them, set them to angles that I don't typically use. For my EDC knife I use a 15° edge, I don't do any heavy knife work that would require and hardy 20° or more sharpening.
    I'm glad to see Work Sharp is considering the edge dyslexic crowd lol

    • @orendz7740
