  • CARAVAN Tyron Bands, what are they? Truma Fire, Gas problems.
    This week we have a look at caravan Tyron Bands, what are they, what do they do, are they worth it? We have a truma gas fire fault which is an easy fix, but we run through the problems you may find with the truma heating system.
    We have a look through the new arrivals at Garden Village caravans dealer and see some new caravans for sale.

    Tyron Bands are great for caravans and work well. I known from experance that they work. On a trip back from haveing my caravan serviced down the M1. I had been travelling at 60 mph and had just left the motorway and was doing about 40 mph and bang went the tyre on the offside of the van. the wheelrim went flying off and I was able to pull over to a layby and stop to change the wheel. The local tyre dealer said you are still using them bands you need to take them off. So asked him why he said they are rubbish. I explained how I was able to stop the outfit with out any damge and that they work. He then sid he does not have the specal tool. So I showed him the tool supply by Tyron and he then had to replace the tyres mutch to his annoyance.

    Although we are not looking for a caravan, we still watch for the tips.

    Have shared this on Caravanning for newbies on Facebook, I’ve seen many questions about gas fires on there. Love that Bessacar , we have a Cadiz. Thanks so much for showing the bands, have heard about them but seeing them makes it all clear

    My van (Swift Icon Trend 560, exactly 2 years old) has an end bedroom with an island double bed, centre washroom, and the kitchen and living area at the front. Some caravans have twin beds, some have doubles - choose the one you want. Also have Tyron bands fitted following having a puncture on a previous caravan.

    We came across a caravan with a puncture/ blowout and parts of the tyre had gone up through the wheel arch into the floor of the caravan and the wheel itself was so badly damaged it was unusable, however we were trying to help out and found that the driver had picked up the caravan from winter storage early that morning and driven from Kent area to the South West and had not checked the tyre pressures or condition before setting out.

    Hi that view you showed of the tyron sticker, the wheel was missing a wheel nut

    My tyre fitter had an absolute nightmare fitting new tyres because of Tyron bands and TPMS sensors. If I was abroad they would have driven off and left me. The fitter had all the equipment needed. Never again.

    Just fit tyre pressure monitors to each tyre if a tyre is going down it will warn you before it destroys itself

    • @stehume
      @stehume Před 25 dny

      not if its a blow out it won't, also you don't have to have another device plugged in to the car

    • @davidtoms6353
      @davidtoms6353 Před 25 dny +2

      Is it better to have tyre pal to monitor the tyre pressures as you travel so you are warned with an alarm if the pressure drops and can stop before damaging the tyre.

    • @paulefc1971
      @paulefc1971 Před 24 dny +1

      I would 100% rather have tyrepal than Tyron bands, overwhelming majority of "blow outs" are caused by low tyre pressure and overheating tyres, both of which a tyrepal will warn you about, a Tyron band won't.
      I have even seen plenty of articles that aren't really sure a Tyron band does much good on an alloy wheel anyway as I believe they were originally introduced for steel wheels where the dish was deeper,

      @@stehume a blow out happens when a tyre looses pressure and it gets hot 🔥 they just don't go pop for no reason so one extra plug in is very handy expesily this plug in

    Hello Mark what weight is the Bessacar caravan, and is it twin or single wheel, 👍.

      Single axle, getting on for about 1700kg. Will be on the Web soon. 👍

    Mark u mention run flats can they b used on caravans is it an option?.

    • @rich1ell
      @rich1ell Před 25 dny +2

      No. True run flat tyres are not made for trailers. There are certain rules and design considerations needed. For example a homologated TPMS.
      Ultimately there is no advantage to run flat tyres on a trailer, and arguably on cars too.

    • @thecaravanplace
      @thecaravanplace  Před 24 dny

      No they are not made unfortunately 👍

    I still don’t get these bands, all puncture situations can cause damage. Maybe just a comfort blanket

    Mark did that van with the Tyron band sticker have a missing wheel bolt or was it me?

  • @rich1ell
    @rich1ell Před 25 dny +4

    Tyron, it’s all a bit snake oil imo.
    Check tyres and pressures for every trip, change aged out tyres, keep your speeds on the legal side on fast roads and don’t overload your van.
    If you get a fast deflation reduce speed and pull over asap.
    Tyron won’t stop your tyre disintegrating and causing damage to the van if you keep driving on it.

      I think tyrons plays to the demographic of the average caravanner . Ie a bit older and there fore more suggestible to the what if brigade and have a few quid to spend. Id be more concerned about having an uninspected lump pf metal inside my tyres for 5 to 7 years which i assume could corrode or come loose. Of very little benefit to a well maintained twin axle i would suggest.
