Morrowind - Jumping With 3000 Acrobatics

- It takes exactly 3000 points in acrobatics to jump from the most southeastern point of Vvardenfell (near Tel Branora) to the most northwestern point of Solstheim. That's three times the Scroll of Icarian Flight.

Is this a bug or a game mechanic?
Bethesda: "Yes"
Rotflmao
Its actually a mechanic XD en.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Spells#Icarian_Flight The game gives you a few scrolls that fortify acrobatics by 500. In Morrowind Skills have a soft cap of 100. But unlike later games, you can continue to increase all of them through enchantments and spells. You can in just the base game make yourself enchantments to get up to 3000 acrobatics. Its not cheap, but you can do it.

You joke about it but apparently Reman Cyrodiil had a space program that went to the moons.
satannstuff: Well, the giants had already long perfected space travel by the time of this test in any case. Their "attacks" on the people of Skyrim are actually part of an ongoing resettlement program in which select individuals are transported to a self-sustaining colony on Masser by means of portable mass drivers, which are usually mistaken as clubs.

holy fuck morrowind is huge
AngelSlayer Morrowind was actually the smallest Elder Scrolls game at the time, Arena and Daggerfall were both much larger, with Arena having the largest game world of any Elder Scrolls game.
Noboru Sora Arena was randomly generated. Daggerfall had compressed generated. Morrowind was handcrafted.
Noboru Sora daggerfall actually has a larger world than arena
Noboru Sora actually daggerfall was the largest because of its scaling .
Ricardo vivas No, Arena was literally endless, mostly because it was randomly generated. Daggerfall actually had a definite size.

Morrowind, the only game that truly lets you be a demigod.
Its funny that the developers actually expected and encouraged you to do this in order to get around the map. No other game developer would endorse such a ridiculous obvious game exploit and encourage the player to take advantage of it xD good old bethesda
Of course. There are so many ways to get around Morrowind. Walking/running, swimming, boats, Silt Striders, levitation, jump spells, buffs to acrobatics or athletics, propylon indices, mage teleporters, mark and recall, divine intervention, Almsivi intervention and probably a few more I'm forgetting.
My transportation method of choice was Levitation + Boots of Blinding Speed. The funny thing was that some bug made it so that I always had +200 speed and if I put them on I would get +400 speed.
I did Boots + Jump ~20 points + slowfall 1 point. Levitation tends to get me stuck on things. You can scale everything with this and it's pretty fun with bow.
I would spend HOURS making fortify alchemy potions, then use my 500+ alchemy to craft speed/waterwalking/infinite regen potions and just go to town.
Buy up ALL the ingredients in a store, make a single potion, get your money back, decorate your morag Tong bedroom with creepy alchemy ingredients & skulls.
I also meticulously made all-seeing eye symbols on rocks all around Seyda Neen. So Fargoth would know I was watching his shit.
Mystery Yoghurt
I did that once. I hunted Ash Yams and Netches for a longass time and used them to fortify my intelligence to 22.7 million (I have a screenshot to prove it). My fortify speed potion threw me so far out of bounds with a single step that my game crashed and my fortify strength potion let me kill Vivec in a single hit with an iron sword that shattered on impact.
This video reminded me how I always got an impression that Morrowind's world is actually bigger than Skyrim's. I know in Morrowind there's no horses etc. and your character walks slower, but look how many Cities and big urban areas are there in Vvardenfell, whereas in Skyrim we've got only like 5 cities, and a single city like Vivec is bigger than say Whiterun and Solitude combined...
+Racer 090 but morrowind actually has an interesting world. Not your a-typical nordic country
+Grzegorz D Vivec is bigger than all Skyrim cities combined. And also Balmora. And Tel Mora + Ald'run. And there were dosen or so smaller cities, and lots of small villages
+Racer 090 This just ain't true...
+Grzegorz D In morrowind Caldera is my personal favorite town/city. I like the imperial style in morrowind more than in oblivion/skyrim. It somehow felt more real.

glitchhunter09 I just read this at the same time it played in the video
+Just Another Fanboy This is semi-doable in-game with a fairly low Alteration level (You will want it to be around 40ish for the following spell to be consistent). I jump across the map instead of fast travel all the time with a Jump spell with a magnitude of 150 and a duration of one, so you jump just after you cast it. You will have to cast a Slowfall spell of at least a magnitude of 3 to survive the fall and to better control your landing, but f you can cast the Jump spell, a Slowfall spell that lasts fdor 15 seconds with 3 magnitude is nothing.

I was like "Wow, cleared Vvardenf... holy shit... yup, just... there's solstheim...and its cleared." Man Acrobatics was the shit.
That there, jumping to Solstheim, that is one of the many reason why I adore Morrowind, It's not gated (in terms of its over world) by load screens. That and the magic system, if invested into, was ridiculously fun.
Skywind is going to be the shit.
amartinez97 nah man, it doesn't have the same skill sets and mechanics as Morrowind did, yes it will be enjoyable. Its Skyrim wearing Morrowinds skin, but it has none of the soul Morrowind had.
Don't get me wrong, I'm looking very forward to Skywind, but I will miss creating my own spells and levitating over city walls and atop mountains. :P
TenesAsylum
But is not supposed to be morrowind in skyrim's engine? it should have many of the game's mechanics.
amartinez97 It is Morrowind in Skyrims engine, replicating Morrowinds more... unusual mechanics is not possible dude, the skyrim engine cannot handle Morrowinds older mechanics, Morrowind uses an incredible D&D-esque system which in a modern mainstream game would seem clunky and really difficult for everyone to grasp, Skywind is a way to push out Morrowind ot players who prefer Skyrims engine and allows them to utterly bypass the system of stats and just run straight in with any weapon, skill they choose. Skyrims engine cannot and was not built to handle Morrowind mechanics and relatively odd skills, also Skyrims engine uses lots of load screens, so a jump that clears city walls etc would potentially break the game as you would end up in unloaded areas : /
Though I do think it may entice some newer players to actually play Morrowind as to experience the original game.
TenesAsylum
As far as the city's and load screens are concerned i'm running a mod on the remastered version (you know how mainstream simple it is to mod that game thanks to Betheseda, trust me thats a compliment) which allows you to open citys like whiterun ect with no load screen breaking immersion, so it is possible to do that much but yeah i can see why some things wouldn't work out now.
man you done ended up in skyrim. lol
Solid Shepard lol wasn't solstheim considered part of skyrim in this game?
Solid Shepard don't really remember, never played morrowind. Really need to though
"Solstheim was politically a part of Skyrim until 4E 16, when the High King of Skyrim gave the island to the province of Morrowind."
In Morrowind's Bloodmoon DLC you travel to the island of Solstheim, which is part of Skyrim.
In Skyrim's Dragonborn DLC you travel to the island of Solstheim, which is part of Morrowind.
Mr. Al more like the Falkland isles or something
It saddens me to know that Bethesda will never again make a game this good.
Who knows?
Tylord The Great Are you expecting something with depth and character after Oblivion, Skyrim and Fallout 4?
You are a very very very very optimistic individual.
+trabuco9 Actually, I am a very very very very pessimistic individual. It's just that Bethesda games seem to be hit and miss with different people. I totally and utterly despise Oblivion and want it to stop existing (unlike many people), yet I'm the exact opposite with Morrowind, Skyrim, Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 (unlike many people with the latter 3). Their games just... vary in quality to different people, I guess. Hell, their next one could be comparable to Ride To Hell, but it could also be comparable to Metal Gear Solid 3...
Tylord The Great Thing with Oblivion is that it felt like generic western fantasy setting number 56 when it was a sequel to Morrowind.
Fallout 3 and Skyrim while being shallow streamlined casualized games can still be enjoyable even if for just the atnosphere.
Fallout 4 is just fucking awful in every regard aside from Power Armor and shooting that is still subpar compared to other games.
Its not even an RPG at this point, just an FPS with RPG elements and S.T.A.L.K.E.R does that miles better.
I had no expectations for it and was still dissapointed, thats how bad I think it is.
I really cant see how you could enjoy it an not like Oblivion even if the later isnt nothing special, it still has more depth and gameplay options than this recent turd.
+trabuco9 I like Fallout 4 because I enjoy the gameplay and the voice acting was HUGELY improved over previous Bethesda games. Oh yeah, the weapon customisation was amazing as well. Oblivion was just a generic, boring and lifeless piece of shit that only had two good things going for it: Patrick Stewart and Sean Bean.
This is what made Morrowind the greatest. You got amazing characters like Uncle Sweetshare but also the best magic and items.
Oh Man! Oh I agree completely. Nothing beats having a set of fully enchanted armor with two enchanted rings a belt and amulet not to mention pants a shirt and a robe lol.

I hope TES6 will be like Skyrim but with the depth and complexity I've been seeing in Morrowind.
A lot of the crazy bullshit you see in TES3 can be done but just leveling up the right skills in the right ways without having to use mods or cheats, while in Skyrim and Oblivion you've have to use mods, cheats or turn off something to get the same effects.
And the fun of Oblivion.
Though techincally most will agree it is the poorest game, for me it was always by far the most fun.
Skyrim is the prettiest, and has the nifty mechanics of dual wielding, and some better AI to go with new creatures. That's about it.
Oblivion had great quests, beautiful environment (mostly because it was bloomy and watercolored as fuck), a nice big enemy list, kept true to the old style of leveling and skills while trying to update/add perks. Characters were goofy looking at times, and all voiced by 2 people, but better than 10 different people doing the same type of voice with almost no variation.
Skyrim is the worst to me. Gorgeous of course, but they cut out so much. Depth, character, story, conversation, real quests that weren't slay all drag and leave, a very basic list of gear you worked your way through till you had the best...rather than variable armor types with thousands of combinations due to like, 20 body slots. Weapons were boring as hell, enchantments were garbage simple. Spells were dumbed WAY down, and most made flat out useless.
unfortunately I think they'll just dumb down es6 more than skyrim is so as to cater to the lowest common denominator and get more sales.
It'll be like the fallout 4 of the elder scrolls.
***** I hope not too, but if Fallout 4 was any indication (and it probably is) of what to expect from ES6, we are a bit fucked.
And I feel like they wouldn't want to drive away all the people who played only Skyrim and won't be able to handle an actual rpg with in depth mechanics and such.

@@ori.g4mi It''s a good thing there's a way to fix the problem. But that's also acknowledgement that there is a problem. And it's a problem Skyrim doesnt have. My comment stands.
Why didn't they put the jumping skill in skyrim?
+blackeroni Cuz skyrim fucking nerfed the franchise and sucks balls
+blackeroni To make the game more approachable they took the easy way (and bad way) out by removing a lot of stats. That way new players wouldn't have to think about what points to spend when they leveled up. They just had to pick traits from a talent tree.
Basically as +Oh "I am so sorry about that" Man! said, they dumbed it down.
+blackeroni
To remove a bunch of pointless stats and skills that have from little to no real effect on gameplay, beyond shattering immersion with ridicilous 10-5000 metre jumps and having your character run so fast that the world-loading can't keep up, which crashes the game or has you stare at a "loading area"-text every 10 seconds.
Good riddance.
There are two types of elder scrolls fans: those who love true rpgs and thus love morrowind and hate skyrim (oblivion is always a toss up), and those who love action rpgs and thus love skyrim and hate morrowind

HEY LOOK AT THIS. Don’t do it now.... but.... LOOK! YOU CAN DO THIS! Once you’re better at everything...
And in only 200 years, no one cant even jump out a 2nd floor with breaking a leg.
Sucks that if you have no fatigue, you can only jump across 1 giant landmass instead of 2
Not even Yoshi can jump that far or high.
i was half expecting him to die when he hit the ground also, i know you can bring your stats up that high but if you when you need air control say to jump a ledge you go right up into the air a few thousand more feet than you intended so that can be kind of annoying :/
I thought the same thing when he got close to landing. I found the scrolls, or was it potions, that increase your agility not even that high from a npc that jumped into the air and managed to kill himself when he hit the ground, by luck mind you. Everytime I use them I die regardles.
the trick with those scrolls are to use slow fall magic i enchanted a pair of boots with jump 50 ft and slow fall 10 and it works well enough alternatively you can also create a constant effect amulet with levitation on it and you can fly as much as you want.
Nocturne I need to remember that then.
Nocturne The problem is, that the levitation is slow. With levitation you travel at your walking (or running) speed in the direction that your cursor is aiming. When you jump with a massive acrobatics skill (as in the video above) you can travel from the south side of Vvardenfell the north side of Solthsthiem in a 60 seconds flat.
A trip like that by levitation would take 10 or 20 minutes at least, unless you had the boots of blinding speed or something similar.
i think the whole reason to use an item like the boots of blinding speed would be for levitation because unless you have magic resistance you it doesnt really help you any other way except to your death.
I want to get off Mr. Bones' wild ride...
Into my Amazing Fun Times playlist you go. He He. Ho Ho.

Sir Potoo Oh my God, I never noticed that!
Morrowind is objectively the best game, I can give you 5 reasons.
1. The fucking skills system. 100 Acrobatic might not seem like much compared to 3000, but you can raise it beyond 3,000. You can even levitate.
2. The cities were bigger than all of Skyrim's cities COMBINED. And they were simply better made and impressive.
3. The economy was interesting to say the least, and not just because it existed... but because you could break it if you wanted.
4. This is the type of game that doesn't feel dumbed-down and gives you AMPLE opportunity to become Merlin. You have natural limits, sure, but for the most part, if you play your cards right, your limit can become literally limitless.
5. The game was more inventive. If the problem is "New players will get stuck or confused," then you're missing the point of games.
Metroid does not hold your ass and sweet talks you, telling you that you're doing good.
It slaps you and intentionally tries to give you a hard time so you become BETTER.
Metroid is an example of a game requiring experimentation. Exploration is crucial for the imagination and role play value, but experimentation is how one comes up with the next 88888-88888 speed run strat that nobody can surpass.
Experimentation is why Shadowgate was a good 1900's game.
Experimentation and Error is why losing in old classics a few times would inhibit and promote critical thought.
Games that think FOR YOU are games that baby you, but does not nurture your gamer mind. Gamers today are no testosterone, and all codependent on instruction.
Morrowind is the "Damn it, I create my OWN INSTRUCTIONS" game.
The next TES will lack the spirit of the old games.
Nothing will top Morrowind. It was perfect.
I have to go. My planet needs me.
This is what happens behind the loading screen when you fast travel
If something like this happened in real life, the sexual predator registry would receive an update about it.
Kid : look dad its a bird carrying a staff

Just shows you how massive and largely detailed the map is it’s crazy when you think about games in this scope
3000? Oh my. You’re going to make me cry 😢.
"STOP YOU VIOLATED THE PHYSICS!!!"
what the fuck? white man can't jump!
Uncle sweetshare has a magic Johnson touch
Ben Jabba that is beautiful
Nords can.
Ben That's a Master-level Alternation spell, is it?
Alan Falleur Either that or a ridiculously expensive enchantment.
Only noobs take public transport with magic available!
This is what makes Morrowind great tbh. the ability to become this overpowered (although it can take quite a bit of time to get 3000 points in acrobatics. Youre gonna need potions).
