  • It takes exactly 3000 points in acrobatics to jump from the most southeastern point of Vvardenfell (near Tel Branora) to the most northwestern point of Solstheim. That's three times the Scroll of Icarian Flight.

      Its actually a mechanic XD en.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Spells#Icarian_Flight The game gives you a few scrolls that fortify acrobatics by 500. In Morrowind Skills have a soft cap of 100. But unlike later games, you can continue to increase all of them through enchantments and spells. You can in just the base game make yourself enchantments to get up to 3000 acrobatics. Its not cheap, but you can do it.

I know in Morrowind there's no horses etc. and your character walks slower, but look how many Cities and big urban areas are there in Vvardenfell, whereas in Skyrim we've got only like 5 cities, and a single city like Vivec is bigger than say Whiterun and Solitude combined...

I jump across the map instead of fast travel all the time with a Jump spell with a magnitude of 150 and a duration of one, so you jump just after you cast it. You will have to cast a Slowfall spell of at least a magnitude of 3 to survive the fall and to better control your landing, but f you can cast the Jump spell, a Slowfall spell that lasts fdor 15 seconds with 3 magnitude is nothing.

    That there, jumping to Solstheim, that is one of the many reason why I adore Morrowind, It's not gated (in terms of its over world) by load screens. That and the magic system, if invested into, was ridiculously fun.

    • @TenesAsylum
      @TenesAsylum Před 7 lety +24

      amartinez97 It is Morrowind in Skyrims engine, replicating Morrowinds more... unusual mechanics is not possible dude, the skyrim engine cannot handle Morrowinds older mechanics, Morrowind uses an incredible D&D-esque system which in a modern mainstream game would seem clunky and really difficult for everyone to grasp, Skywind is a way to push out Morrowind ot players who prefer Skyrims engine and allows them to utterly bypass the system of stats and just run straight in with any weapon, skill they choose. Skyrims engine cannot and was not built to handle Morrowind mechanics and relatively odd skills, also Skyrims engine uses lots of load screens, so a jump that clears city walls etc would potentially break the game as you would end up in unloaded areas : /
      Though I do think it may entice some newer players to actually play Morrowind as to experience the original game.

      As far as the city's and load screens are concerned i'm running a mod on the remastered version (you know how mainstream simple it is to mod that game thanks to Betheseda, trust me thats a compliment) which allows you to open citys like whiterun ect with no load screen breaking immersion, so it is possible to do that much but yeah i can see why some things wouldn't work out now.

      @Axon4000Gaming Před 8 lety +29

      +trabuco9 Actually, I am a very very very very pessimistic individual. It's just that Bethesda games seem to be hit and miss with different people. I totally and utterly despise Oblivion and want it to stop existing (unlike many people), yet I'm the exact opposite with Morrowind, Skyrim, Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 (unlike many people with the latter 3). Their games just... vary in quality to different people, I guess. Hell, their next one could be comparable to Ride To Hell, but it could also be comparable to Metal Gear Solid 3...

    • @trabuco9
      @trabuco9 Před 8 lety +35

      Tylord The Great Thing with Oblivion is that it felt like generic western fantasy setting number 56 when it was a sequel to Morrowind.
      Fallout 3 and Skyrim while being shallow streamlined casualized games can still be enjoyable even if for just the atnosphere.
      Fallout 4 is just fucking awful in every regard aside from Power Armor and shooting that is still subpar compared to other games.
      Its not even an RPG at this point, just an FPS with RPG elements and S.T.A.L.K.E.R does that miles better.
      I had no expectations for it and was still dissapointed, thats how bad I think it is.
      I really cant see how you could enjoy it an not like Oblivion even if the later isnt nothing special, it still has more depth and gameplay options than this recent turd.

      Skyrim is the prettiest, and has the nifty mechanics of dual wielding, and some better AI to go with new creatures. That's about it.
      Oblivion had great quests, beautiful environment (mostly because it was bloomy and watercolored as fuck), a nice big enemy list, kept true to the old style of leveling and skills while trying to update/add perks. Characters were goofy looking at times, and all voiced by 2 people, but better than 10 different people doing the same type of voice with almost no variation.
      Skyrim is the worst to me. Gorgeous of course, but they cut out so much. Depth, character, story, conversation, real quests that weren't slay all drag and leave, a very basic list of gear you worked your way through till you had the best...rather than variable armor types with thousands of combinations due to like, 20 body slots. Weapons were boring as hell, enchantments were garbage simple. Spells were dumbed WAY down, and most made flat out useless.

      Nocturne The problem is, that the levitation is slow. With levitation you travel at your walking (or running) speed in the direction that your cursor is aiming. When you jump with a massive acrobatics skill (as in the video above) you can travel from the south side of Vvardenfell the north side of Solthsthiem in a 60 seconds flat.
      A trip like that by levitation would take 10 or 20 minutes at least, unless you had the boots of blinding speed or something similar.

      @Katsuhi50 Před 9 lety

      i think the whole reason to use an item like the boots of blinding speed would be for levitation because unless you have magic resistance you it doesnt really help you any other way except to your death.

      Thank you! :) I completely agree - Oblivion and Skyrim are amazing games as well but speaking of game design philosophy that allowed absurd things like these, they can't even hold a candle to Morrowind!

    Morrowind is objectively the best game, I can give you 5 reasons.
    1. The fucking skills system. 100 Acrobatic might not seem like much compared to 3000, but you can raise it beyond 3,000. You can even levitate.
    2. The cities were bigger than all of Skyrim's cities COMBINED. And they were simply better made and impressive.
    3. The economy was interesting to say the least, and not just because it existed... but because you could break it if you wanted.
    4. This is the type of game that doesn't feel dumbed-down and gives you AMPLE opportunity to become Merlin. You have natural limits, sure, but for the most part, if you play your cards right, your limit can become literally limitless.
    5. The game was more inventive. If the problem is "New players will get stuck or confused," then you're missing the point of games.
    Metroid does not hold your ass and sweet talks you, telling you that you're doing good.
    It slaps you and intentionally tries to give you a hard time so you become BETTER.
    Metroid is an example of a game requiring experimentation. Exploration is crucial for the imagination and role play value, but experimentation is how one comes up with the next 88888-88888 speed run strat that nobody can surpass.
    Experimentation is why Shadowgate was a good 1900's game.
    Experimentation and Error is why losing in old classics a few times would inhibit and promote critical thought.
    Games that think FOR YOU are games that baby you, but does not nurture your gamer mind. Gamers today are no testosterone, and all codependent on instruction.
    Morrowind is the "Damn it, I create my OWN INSTRUCTIONS" game.
    The next TES will lack the spirit of the old games.
    Nothing will top Morrowind. It was perfect.
