      Thank you! I like to looks of 10" but to be honest I don't really believe they makes sense unless you want to carry a heavy camera of some type. You can get all the flight time and speed you need from a 7" with way cheaper motors, props and batteries and it will be easier to tune ...

    That's interesting, my current setup is a hyperlite toothfairy with 2205-1750kv. I run a light 1300 6s and I can get a solid 7-8 mins on hq quadblades. Doesn't run an hd cam or anything but I could easily push that past 15 mins with s3 props on. If you aren't using the li-ions anyway I think you need to look at 4s again with lipos and the bigger 2004 motors. You might be able to get similar performance out of a 1500 and drop a bit of weight.

    @thedarkshizzler Před 3 lety

    Hey Dave, given the larger disc area being able to handle the higher weight as mentioned for the #MiniLongRange have you looked into using larger, heavier, 21700 cells for a 4S li-ion pack for 5" LR builds specifically? The Molicel P42A looks like a very good candidate for such. Roughly 30% more weight for 25% more battery capacity and a higher discharge rate might be promising.

  • @FPFPV
    @FPFPV Před 3 lety

    Really awesome, love your work!
    I used a 20˚ mount for the naked GoPro and that was taking away too much space so I had to mount the batteries at a slight angle. Hopefully your new mounts fixes it!
    I have another issue with my naked GoPro 7, maybe someone has an idea for a fix. The GoPro quite often stops recording mid-flight (the video freezes, with the frozen frame taking up the rest of the video). I formatted the SD cards on the GoPro and tried different ones, it's not that.

      @@TobiasFeuerbach You know, iFlight does many things the right way but some things still dont sit right with me on their new design. My XL7 breaks arms like twigs and the chimera has the same untapered style. Arm mount design looks overly complicated too. But i love the generous battery plate, thats a big plus. I wonder how tight prop clearances are on it, theyre a nightmare on XL7, very restrictive to camera and battery sizes.

    I actually think of using 18650 cells is a more efficient way to cruise, if you do not use all that energy at least there's not that need to put the battery to storage. It can hold the charge much more without damage.
    Why not try an 5S 18650? Or does the weight gets to the point that it's not viable anymore?
    Btw, I'm building a 4S 18650 to try with the CTS7, maybe next week I'll get it up in the air if I got the time and weather.

    • @DaveCFPV
      @DaveCFPV  Před 3 lety +1

      I was thinking about 5S too but until now didn't get around trying it. The weight will certainly be a the maximum limit that still flies well. Sure an Liion pack that is rarely discharged below storage voltage will last pretty long. They also seem to handle deep discharges much better. I discharged one of my packs down to 2V several times and the cells are still fine.
