Best Public HS Basketball Team in USA?! 21-0 Glenbard West, Braden Huff Battle Chicago Whitney Young

- Glenbard West has exploded onto the high school basketball map.
Gonzaga basketball commit Braden Huff has been leading the way all season as his undefeated, #1 in Illinois squad faced Miami commit AJ Casey Jr and Chicago Public League basketball powerhouse Whitney Young (preseason #2 Chicago Sun Times) at the annual When Sides Collide at Benet Academy near Chicago.
The gym was sold out. Braden Huff finished with 31 points as Glenbard West moved to 22-0 after the 74-59 win over Young. 6'6 #3 Cade Pierce (Princeton commit) finished with 25 points (8-10). AJ Casey led the Whitney Young Dolphins with 20 points, 7 rebounds and NIU commit Xavier Amos added 17 points.
Glenbard West is the no doubt number one team in Illinois and perhaps the Midwest?!

I seriously don’t know why Caden Pierce(3) doesn’t have more offers! He can shoot, very unselfish, great playmaker, good defender, attacks the basket good! Illinois should’ve offered this kid and he could’ve made them a even better team

I bet the Texas schools are overrated. How much tradition does Texas have in basketball? MaxPreps ratings are not that accurate. Their #1 team for Illinois in last year's covid shortened season was Effingham. That's WAY off!

@@kendrickburks8209 it's hard for me to believe that Texas is all that good in basketball. They have tradition in track and football and that's about it. Does anybody really believe Art Johlf's rankings that picked Wheatley #1 over Power Memorial and Helix in 1970? Or Wheatley again in 1973 over DeMatha and Dunbar from Maryland? Illinois has tons of tradition in basketball and a history of playing defense. Glenbard West has been described as having 5 Larry Birds.

That goes to Duncanville but with all the talent and length both teams have there probably wouldn't be much separating them and it would a fun game since I don't believe Duncanville has played a team that runs that 1-3-1 with as much length and talent that Glenbard West has.

That’s driven me crazy for years. That’s why I’m an Ayo Dosunmu because he stayed home and proved it’s possible to beat big programs and win at Illinois. The top Illinois players attending would regularly have them in the hunt.

They’re better than Richardson for sure. I think they’d 15+ them. Erratic guards don’t do well against this team. Glenbard defense is unbelievably good. Duncanville is probably just as good if not better because they can match their size and they are just is skilled.

@@ztoolietv3720 it’s hard to explain but Duncanville is nowhere near as good defensively as Glenbard west. Richardsons bread and butter come within teams like Duncanville who rely on offense. But I don’t think Richardson would do well with a defensive anchor like Glenbard.
