beautiful music!
This work is quite interesting since one hand it is very close to Haydn's style and on the other hand there are some stylistic features of the romantism which begin to appear. It is typical of these works of trnsition which have a charm of their own due to this ambiguous position.
Moving toward Sturm and Drang Romanticism.
What a splendid gem!
Lovely piece ... and that Poussin painting hangs in London's National Gallery, reminding me how much I miss being able to stroll through there of an afternoon now that everything is on shut down. ... Hopefully soon to end.
eine echte Entdeckung! Sehr schön!!!
No surprise that this reminds me of Cartellieri's Symphonies in a lot of ways.
Wonderful symphony! Full of beautiful drama! I love his G Minor Symphony as well. Too bad Wolfl didn't compose more of them. It seems to me that Wolfl and Cartellieri were bridge composers to others like Onslow and Fesca.
Brian Knapp there are 3 more symphonies by him.
