Bellezza assoluta, abbagliante! 😊

Nothing like carrying around false presuppositions. It never occurred to me that Scriabin would have composed such a work. Thus, I avoided listening to his works because my false notions. Glad I took a chance to find I was wrong. This was awesome!

I was of the same self imposed opinion..but wow how glorious!

The entire symphony is wonderful, but the last ten minutes are so glorious that I cannot help myself from replaying this section over and over again, sometimes ten times in succession. A powerful performance, played with passion.

The same happens to me. My favorite recording used to be that of conductor Evgeny Svetlanov (the first one I heard in the 70s), due to a slight difference in the timbre of the metals probably made in Russia; but I recently heard Andrew Litton's recording with the Galicia Symphony and it pleased me a lot.
Another great Russian work also from the beginning of the 20th century is Gliere's Symphony No. 3. In this one I usually repeat the initial 5 minutes of the last movement that reminds me a lot of a "fugue".

I love the way the main subject permeates every movement and reaches a majestic crescendo in the final movement

among many compositions of all ages and many now famous musicians and known by all of us, this is one of the largest and most beautiful symphonies between many compositions of equal merit of classical music, only now, after years and years of listening and study this symphony, beginning to grasp the deep thick harmonic and melodic that the musician wanted, as of now I have not had the opportunity to be able to play and not to live it in person, I hope that I can get closer and closer to the deep sense that this symphony expresses.

I just recently opened my heart to scriabin and my how the tears of joy over the absolutely masterful command of the orchestral forces are able to move my cold hearted stance on symphonic music!

What a pity there wasn't multiple camera coverage on this excellent (and rare) performance. But isn't it great that it was recorded with quite decent audio, and isn't it great that it was recorded - full stop! Thank you for this wonderful rarity.

@Aleksandr Buyanov: (sorry for not replying in Russian) I do agree, but you should see the older recordings from this hall with Mravinsky - they were all very conductor-centric. Great performance though; and I love the fact that the orchestra still hasn't lost its typical brass sound.

It’s a very unusual performance space but the sound seems strong and the reverberation is substantial. Limited seating capacity I would think, though.
