  • This is the story of Alexander the Great. Few in history were blessed with an Aristotelian education, and Alexander stands as a testament to an education rooted in ethics and virtue. From his direct education with Aristotle, to his magnificent speeches, to his whirlwind of a biography, from ancient Greek warfare to the speech that saved him from the mutiny at Opis, we'll unpack in this historical documentary the facts how Alexander became known as one of the greatest generals in ancient Greece and throughout the history of time.

I heard that Aristotle spoke on Alexander's behalf to stop the mutiny?

I think the worship of the conquerors and mass murderers of antiquity is fascinating. Alexander can almost be understood due to his anglo appearance and Western heritage. But even monsters like Genghis Khan are almost talked about with admiration. Their ability to conquer insurmountable odds...... seemingly the world itself, and seize their desires. Casts a spell on most that seems to overshadow the darkest of human potential for evil doing they embodied. He may well have had many virtues. But his actions prove his mind never grasped even the most fundamental aspects of love, conscience, humility. Sadly, he casts a shadow on Aristotle himself for such a dismal failure to enlighten the mind of a young boy into a virtuous man.

How was Alexander a mass murderer? People always make this accusation against the ancient heroes. Was Harry Truman a mass murderer for bombing Hiroshima and Nagasakai, even though the only other option was invading the mainland of Japan which would lead to far more hundreds of thousands (potentially millions) of deaths?
It’s pretty cringe to write off the achievements of great men by plastering the pejorative “mass murderer” on them to stain their legacy. These accusations lack any sort of nuance and depth lol

Saying this while having Thomas Jefferson as a PFP is the embodiment of cognitive dissonance

Kind of left out the part where he spread Greek culture and most importantly language which the first Bible would be written in.
