Thank you for another blast of the past Roller Derby games.

This is a real gem of a find. The Hollywood Ravens were one of those teams that only lasted a year or two, when the Bombers first got going in the late 50s

Actually the Ravens came in the NRDL in '54 along with the LA Braves and then-California (Soon to become San Francisco Bay) Bombers, becoming the Hollywood Stars in 1960 before folding.....

This game was Roller Derby at its greatest, tremendous skating and no fighting. Not a carnival like rollergames

Sportsmanship and Ann Calvallo spoken in the same breath. I can die a happy man.

If anyone would ever ask me how I would like to see Roller Derby return today, I would show them this video! This was Derby at its BEST! Not a fight to be seen, and pure ACTION on the track! I even caught a glimpse of good sportsmanship when AnnCavello patted an opponent on her shoulder after scoring a point on her! Oh, I can dream, at least!

Amazing reminiscing with my parents who skated in 1961 and 1962 with the Brooklyn bay boomers. Glenda Wilson and Jimmy Morton. They met when my mom Glenda fell on my dad's toe stop. She was hurt really bad. Fast forward they've been 61 years and going...
Thank you for sharing! We've been searching for some they may be in.

Brooklyn was the Brooklyn Red Devils, while the Bay Bombers were the San Francisco Bay Bombers.....

Roller Derby at it's finest. All hard skating, no fighting no shenanigans. Loved it. This is the Derby I grew up with. What year was this '58, '59, '60???

I'm reasonably sure that the game was skated in '59.

I know the camera operator thinks he’s doing a good thing by showing the audience but every time he takes the camera from the action on the track or the fights it’s unforgivable. Absolutely unforgivable!
