Leon Russel was so underrated. This jumping jack flash/Youngblood is fire.
First saw him at the Bangladesh Concert and bought Carny immediately. Saw him last in a dinner theatre in Chicago a few months before he passed. He was of course diminished by then but still had more soul in his little finger than most have in their whole body. RIP Leon.
Leon was a natural band leader. This concert and his Mad Dogs work with Joe Cocker are legendary.

My old man and his buddy showed me the Concert for Bangladesh video some time when I was a teenager, and this segment has always stuck with me. Leon Russell was something else

I saw the concert in movie theater in Seattle. At first I thought Billy Preston was going to steal the show with "that's the way God Planned it!" Worth watching the video. But no, Leon owned the evening! Truly epic!

I loved him since l was 14 yrs old… Very blessed to have seen him in my hometown with the Shelter people.. And Lil Richard… He never disappointed,, his shows were brilliant & down to earth… my Gracious. He was cool & didn’t have to try & ahead of his time. Every Lp he rocked & played it so well his way.❣️💕🎶💕🎶💕ohh l love you LeonRussell you had such a influence on my LIFE❣️
No one had respect & friends like George Harrison, who could form a SuperGroup or epic concert almost as an afterthought. One comment I see a lot, most underrated guitar player in history ok. Just like to add, a true humanitarian & everlasting gift to us all.

Most of the band had been playing on Harrison productions going back to ‘69. It wasn’t exactly a tossed together group
I met Leon at the Circle Cinema in Tulsa,Oklahoma, and I told him how impressed I was with his playing at this benefit.
My favorite on the album. Nobody like Leon Russell.. He had the place rock in’.
I love how this sounds like a combination between Jumpin Jack Flash and Sympathy for the Devil
