    Excellent video showing how to replace a fan/light fixture. In 4 years a lot has changed with the way fan/light fixtures are now installed. For my fan/light fixture I installed wireless receiver/transmitters to separately turn the fan and light on/off. The wireless units eliminate having to fish wires through the walls. The light receiver includes a 4 level dimmer which is necessary with the brightness of LED bulbs. The receivers fit inside the fan housing with only the antenna sticking out. Very easy install.

    Looks great, and with a brighter bulb installed that’s all the light you need. czcams.com/users/postUgkxWF88GpljEn-0o34vtLFazEQ5h5Q33SjU As far as ease of installation- this was my first ceiling fan and it took about 3 hours because I had no idea what I was doing and also it’s helpful to have a second set of hands and a magnetic drill bit. Works great.

      @@TinkerForward ...sooo, I wish it would have only taken as long as your video. 😀 Total time 3.5 hrs from arrival and setting up to cleanup and departure. Your vid was super helpful as I knew what to expect. I even dug out the tester and used it for the first time...no issue thou-when she flipped the breaker, everything on the right top floor went dark/dead. Had to run extension cord from the kitchen to plug in floor lamp to see. I carefully removed old fan. Only thing wrong with it: one of the blade brackets had broken at the curve and needs to be replaced. Told my client, but she said install new fan any way.. Will donate old one to Goodwill.
      As always something unexpected came up: the old electrical box was way larger and there was no way to connect the bracket for the new fan as intended by manufacturer. Replacing box was NOT an option. So I used heavy duty hollow wall anchors. There was just enough room at each corner where the motor unit hooks into the bracket for the longer & thicker screws to fit...and even if she wanted to swing from the fan, it will hold. On top of that, I was too lazy to get the 6-in impact extension from the truck and the 3-in took a lot more fiddling and dropping screws to screw the blade brackets on. Lastly, the little screws for the cover for the motor were a royal pain. I did use the wire nuts that were supplied by manufacturer instead of just electrical tape.
      All in all, not bad for first time fan replacement/assembly. Client is very happy with her new fan and gave me $15 tip on top of the installation fee. Thank you again.

    If you’re installing a brand new Centreville, use the included LED bulbs. Don’t do what I did and try to use 8 watt bulbs to be brighter. The current limiter won’t allow 8 watt LEDs… I had new wiring installed (by an electrician), new switches (separate switches for fan and a dimmer switch on lights), new fan… blinking lights… Took forever to diagnose that it was the bulbs. I was freaking out the new wiring was shorting out inside the wall somewhere.
    The sticker says 40watt max per bulb, so I didn’t even think the lamps could be an issue but apparently the limiter is set at like 5.00001 watts lol

    Hey Jeff, my name is Michael... I just installed the same exact fan in my kitchen... Everything went fine except, when I turn the fan on. There's kind of like a clicking tapping sort of sound. And it doesn't stop until the blades stop spinning... The only thing that I wasn't able to do as far as the wiring, was... There was no separate ground wire in the ceiling box. So I just grounded the wire to the black bracing bar that gets installed first... I'd appreciate any input you can give me... Thank you!...

    Nice video but I have one question I just installed this same fan last night and the biggest problem I had was putting the screws that hold the blades to the motor it was at such a angle to get a screwdriver in there I couldn't get the screws started so I had to end up taking the big nut off of the light fixture to get it out of the way to get a straight shot at the screws for the blades.Did you have any trouble with that part?

    • @TinkerForward
      @TinkerForward  Před 5 lety +2

      Hey, thanks for watching! At 7:42 I show how I install the screws for the fan blades. There is a small notch just under the motor that made it easier to use a screwdriver to remove and install the screws.
