    Noraly of Itchy Boots fame is smashing this bike all over South America. And she's a loyal customer of Honda, I think she has done more for the brand than the brand has done itself. In my opinion Honda need to sit up and take notice of the CZcams Vloggers as they are the ones reaching a wider audience and influencing peoples choices on motor bike sales and branding.

    I retired to Wales 6 years ago and came with a 1290 SAS & Z1000SX, I now ride a 250L, a 500F and just bought a 300 Rally, which has only done 500 miles, a great bike, at 65, I no longer have the need for speed, but want the ability to go off and explore this great environment I live in and my 2 trailies are great for this, I agree with Simon on most counts, this is a very good bike !!

      Great stuff. Do you miss the performance of your SAS and Z1000sx on the road ? I have a Ninja 1000 and thought about getting a 300 Rally to complement it. The Ninja is wonderful, but I suspect not that useful offroad 😋

      @@TeslasSecret TBH, No, I'm 66 now, had 95 bikes, anything from moped to superbike with about 45 sportsbikes inbetween, ex traffic cop and now my CB500F is all I need for the road, the Rally is great for some off road work, and my 250 has been replaced by a Meteor 350, even more relaxed and fun, but I do live in very rural wales, no dual carriageways for 40 miles, and hardly ever use A roads, so for my own personal circumstances, I'm chilled with what I currently own. BUT if I had to do long distance rides, I'd definitely go back to a 1000cc + bike, horses for courses, thanks for the question.

    Simon is perfectly correct. I had the 250 changed to a 300 Rally last May. The 300 is just so much better in so many ways. More mid range power and better spaced gearing. I’ve taken my 300 to Spain as well as doing parts of the TET. It’s a great all round bike ans so much fun. I changed the silencer on my 250, yes it sounds good but the noise gets wearing after a while,so kept the standard on the 300. Getting a K-tech shock fitted next week, the standard spring is too soft.

    As the man said, the singlets biggest improvement for these bikes is to sort the suspension, as the existing gear is nothing short of dreadful, with an experience to match. That way, you'll find it will actually steer into and around corners. I'd go so far as to say that if you have limited budget, better buying a 250 and doing the upgrade rather than simply buying a new bike and not being able to afford the upgrade.

      For lowering the front you can always just open the triple clamp bolts and slide the fork up, for the rear Wilbers makes shocks that are shorter. You can get them in lengths that lower the bike by 30mm or 60mm (1,2" or 2,4"), however, the cheapest one is 500€, so lowering links are much cheaper.

      Can you buy a wr250r new though?..... I bought a used wr250r cos I didn't want to wait the 6 months for delivery for the honda. I think the wr250r would kill the crf off road but I doubt the wr could match the comfort of the rally for long haul black top.

    why dont honda make their suspension catered for the EU market? always too soft and bottoms out. I would love a CRF300 but with crap suspension out the box i wont touch it

    This isn’t much better!
    It’s not the power that gets criticism, it’s the weight.

    50% of people say its a better street bike, 50% of people say its a better dirt bike. So what is it really? I can only buy one bike and I'd like a Honda. I have to many hobbies that demand a lot of $. I want to be able to drive on road mostly and just hit a trail, and dirt when I feel the want to.

    Manufacturers need to bring back the 600cc thumpers. This is a nice bike, but with a modern 600cc thumper I'm convinced this would smoke the tenere 700 in sales.

    • @roughrider9831
      @roughrider9831 Před 2 lety

      What, you mean like a KTM690 Enduro or Husqvana 701?. They do smoke Tenere 700s. I did a rough power to weight calculation Vs the CRF1000L Africa Twin with a 100kg of rider. By my calculations, they are roughly the same. Only the new CRF1100 just nudges ahead!. Go buy one, twice the price of a Honda 300L, but then it has nearly 3 times power, so it’s still worth every penny.
