Hinduism is so close to nature. I can relate Hinduism concepts like 'reincarnation' or 'individuality is just an illusion' to concepts like nutrient recycling or food chain. If we watch the whole earth for millions of years you will see that all living and non living things are just intermixing with each other on our planet. It's hard to believe how people know about these things at that time.

You do realise that Santan Dharma is not actually Hinduism but one of the systems within the broader religion that is Hinduism, right? It means “eternal duty” and not “eternal religion” as a lot of Hindus claim it to be. Also to say that someone coming from an Abrahamic Faith won’t be able to understand Hinduism is one of the main ways defenders of awful things like the caste system and dowry use. A Christian can understand Hinduism the same way a Hindu can understand Christianity.

That's not really the core of Hinduism. They still believe in the warrior. Also veganism was a much later thing to happen. The indo-Europeans were animal herders that lived off of animals which is why the cow is holy and the horse is revered similarly. They even had a the idea of wolf warriors like in other indo-european cultures. They used to sacrifice cows and horses and eat them. they later decided to become vegan at some point in Indian Hindu history.

I just started studying vedic after my awakening and was reviewing my yogas. I have virinchi yoga and I looked it up an it noted teaching of brahman. I didn’t know what that was. I search for this and was guided to your channel. 🙏 The universe is confirming to me my knowing. I didn’t know that this is what I was practicing all my life.

Glad the narrator went straight to the most fundamental and core concepts of Vedic religion (aka now called as 'Hinduism'). Brahman, Atman, Samsara, Karma, Dharma and Moksha are very core of Hinduism. Some of these concepts are also in Jainism and Buddhism such as Karma, Dhamma (aka Dharma) Nirvana (aka Moksha). An average westerner gets quite confused with these terms and most likely to pick up the terminology from Thailand or Srilanka or Japanese Buddhism and think they all came from Buddhism without knowing Siddhartha Gautama (aka Buddha) and his parents were strongly Hindu themselves until he went out to forest and delved deeper in to the concepts of Hinduism, and then came up with revised & refined versions of the same concepts which 500 years later were put together and branded as a separate 'religion' which we now refer as 'Buddhism'.
He didn't "refine" or "revised" some of the concepts he straight up rejected and abandoned some of them like Atman for example with the doctrine of antta being one of core tenets of Buddhism is a obvious example of this
This is so fascinating. It sounds like the oldest creative analogy described in pursuit of or to collectively explain a very simple truth in both a scientific and metaphysical way. The truth being, we are all made of the universe or are the realization of the universe itself. Literal translation of Brahma/ Brahmand is the Universe and to be a Brahman is to be the ultimate cause or realization of all that exists? Perhaps that's an simplification but its awesome to think about. The Vedas also derived the age of the universe which amazingly corresponds to that of modern scientific cosmology.

No my friend. To limit the Brahman with one or multiple universe(s) is foolishness as we do not know his nature. A better presumption is that the universe or the multiverse is a part of Brahman and that Brahman may exist beyond it.
Mid east & india both have very early civilizations. While JEsus was made a god against the teachings of the bible job 25 among the final Prophets in the Abrahamic religions, vedantist hindus did this to many Prophets earlier & became pagan w/ avatar incarnation to pantheism when Allah is above the heavens. Prophecies of Muhammad peace and blessings on him in the vedas mention very specific things as a Mercy to hinduism, to accept Allah in Tawhid and reject idolatry, the prophecies of Muhammad mention he is the greatest Prophet of even god due to the pagan concept of turning man into god (which happenned in the end of Isaacite prophets with Jesus, but happenned repeatedly in hinduism) who is given a law to last forever, the miraj or ascension above the 7 heavens , so Allah is above the throne separate from creation and idols, and mentions Hajj in the center of the Earth where the cows are sacrificed for Allah, again showing creation is subservient to Allah and Allah is above creation, rejecting their idolatry based on pantheism... Allah is above creation separate from them,
Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings on him is mentioned as Narashansa in vedas, Nar meaning man and Shansa meaning praiseworthy which is the meaning of Muhammad.
even in vedas hinduism and bible is says there will be a Prophet from the center of the Earth who sacrifices cows, who goes to the highest heavens, and gets light of eternal law with the only straight path, he is the cheif of Prophets, the mightest of men who conquers, who knocks down castles! & his name will be Muhammad
or Narashansa in vedas... He is mentioned by name many times, and he is called Muhammad in Solomon songs 5 :16.

Quran 35 Fatir : 41 - Verily! Allah grasps the heavens and the earth lest they move away from their places, and if they were to move away from their places, there is not one that could grasp them after Him. Truly, He is Ever Most Forbearing, OftForgiving.
Allah alone will destroy creation, & resurrect them for judgement, not shiva :
Quran 13 :21 And if there had been a Qur'an with which mountains could be moved (from their places), or the earth could be cloven asunder, or the dead could be made to speak (it would not have been other than this Qur'an). But the decision of all things is certainly with Allah. Have not then those who believed yet known that had Allah willed, He could have guided all mankind? Thanks for the video. Found it due to an assignment for one of my classes at the University of Cincinnati. Very interesting, it seems as I get older and older, I've been aligning my beliefs and practices with Hinduism without even knowing it. Raised Southern Baptist, but it never really took hold. I'm 57yrs old, but at the age of 14, I started questioning Christianity.
Hinduism is not like abhramic religion. You can pratice hindu and Christianity at the same time.

It annoys me when Sikhs address themselves as a different religion. They are not. Guru Nanak accentuated certain principles in Sikhism to coordinate the mess and misuse and abuse of the caste system. In the west they are known as, labourers, white colars, blue collars, the rich and aristocrats. It is natural the divisions in professions.. However the pandits abused this by oustercising people and I'll treating them as lesser beings which is against the core principle of Hinduism

I am a Hindu. I defy religion. Hinduism is not a religion. I being a Hindu have no religion. The word "Hindu" is a geographical connotation and it is for the foreigners to use. The word religion means "to bind". A religion is a political organization with its main intent being power and authority over the masses and it very cunningly uses "God" to feed upon the human psyche and curiosity of knowing the unknown. I, a Hindu shall be bind by no one. No one shall have the authority over me except the Laws and rules of the society I am part of. I will set my own perimeters with my own observations. No one has the right to dictate me and force me to believe fancy stories.

I have had a palpable experience for some weeks before. Maybe this will give some insight for anyone who’s curious about what experiential depths we can go to...
I can’t say I was experiencing my nirvanic body/atman, but definitely one or two layers out from that, possibly my cosmic or causal body. I have more of a sense that it was my cosmic layer though. I was cognising, experiencing that I was wearing my body - my head felt like a helmet or sorts, with my eyes as a “visor”. When others looked at my body I wouldn’t think they were looking at me, I would think “this person is looking at my face”, or something along lines, rather than “they’re looking at me” as a cognition. I was constantly soaked in this feeling that I was just a part of everything, that I was it. All fears and negative patterns just melted away, were non existent. I felt like I was embodying yoga by nature - every word was so precise and graceful. Every movement I made I was fully conscious of and I would love my body in a gentle manor - for instance, setting down a cup on the table would be with almost a respect or reverence for that cup, so I would place it very gently, rather than with that subtle violence we tend to emit towards inanimate objects. Also, everything just felt so effortless to do, no stress in my body or mind was involved in anything. My thoughts were virtually zero to only 4 thoughts a minute at most, instead of the usual 4/5 thoughts every few seconds (like how we tend to string thoughts together and miss the space between them). I remember even my breathing was so deep it felt like my breath was travelling past my lungs and down into the ground, but also it was going up through my head and beyond at the same. My lungs just felt so big! I didn’t really have this concept of “I” but I knew who I was still, but I mostly just felt like I was my Guru - as if I was in his body/having his experience, in some way. I say this because this was when I felt the most connected to him and really felt his pervasiveness in my being.
This is the best way I can describe the whole experience, but I feel it’s like trying to explain colour to a blind person. The way I can shorten it down is, everything which was once just a concept, something I knew was the truth and so spoke as the truth, formed a logic around and could only visualise at most, suddenly was just a living reality beyond any comprehension of visualisation. I learned that no matter how much we speak about and act as if we know about these deep spiritual truths, we never truly know until we experience it!
Actually I have to add one thing about Karma, because it’s so widely misconceived and is quite vague and confusing to most seekers in Dharmic paths because it isn’t explained very simply. Karma can be seen as a consequence of our actions, but actually if we go deeper, it’s our cognitions that are our karma because our cognitions dictate our impulse action. It’s our cognitions about ourselves, others and life that controls the impulsive actions we take. Impulsive actions are what we call as a karma, because they are unconscious actions that we act out as a pattern (often without even knowing it) - this is what is Karma. So for people who are worried about karma, instead of trying to change your actions which will can be like just putting a bandage on a wound, just work on changing your actual cognitions - work on the root of your actions and heal them from that space. This is all that is karma. From karma (wrong cognitions) to punya (from right cognitions)!
AwakeMode , I have also experienced that feeling of tension melting away but through a different path. I practice yognidra and there is a beautiful Shloka which I have absorbed. It's meaning is, atman (soul) is the owner of the body shaped as a chariot. The mind (mann) is the driver of the chariot-shaped body and the senses (indriya) are the ropes controlling the horses.
AwakeMode I used to feel that way whenever I smoked weed. But weed was a band aid to my brokenness and addictions. Jesus Christ set me free beccause he is Brahma incarnate so to say. CovertGeopolitics 1nesState&DipDarknet you cant put that answer into words. Too often we are trying to intellectualise Consciousness and put it in a box. It can’t be done, it just can’t. Because it’s so far beyond logic and mind based understanding. It can only be understood by experiencing it in all of its glory. Because by asking what is the ‘nature’ of Consciousness could mean many things. You may have a different idea of what ‘nature’ is referring to than me. Consciousness IS nature. The nature of anything doesn’t exist without Consciousness in the first place. Another way you can find an answer is by asking “what is the Consciousness of nature?”. Flip it like that and you will also find you will arrive at the same answer because nature is Known to you.
AwakeMode It seems great when reading your experience. Unfortunately people's mind (including me) tend to start imagining unconsciously when we read, which is definitely not the right thing to do. I don't know if this is the right question to ask. Will you be able to point out a specific path which led you there? Like sadhana or any other practice? Kindly let me know.
Srikanth R.R yes but that’s absolutely normal and fine. Actually the more we can visualise the experience the closer we are to experiencing it and it becoming part of our cognition. It’s just the only downside is visualising these experiences tends to create an expectation around an idea or fantasy of the experience.
But there was no one path I used, I was just in the presence of my Guru Paramahamsa Sri Nithyananda for some time. Obviously yoga, pure satvic bhagashastra food and having Kundalini awakening is at the core. But other than that I really just advocate being around a master, being around your Guru is so important! The masters presence just melts all of your dirt away instantly and all of your questions you once had simply fall away, there’s no more need to ask anymore. Oneness with the master, being in upanishad is very very important, I can’t stress it enough!! I’m very blessed to have been called by my Guru, Swamiji. I had been through many masters before Him but just something was always missing... eventually my previous Guru Paramahamsa Yogananda guided me to Paramahamsa Nithyananda.
I can still find that space of pure bliss again if I am creating the right vatarana (spiritual ambience) and interacting with people, serving and enriching them. This is when I find my Guru’s presence enters me most strongly and my thoughts cease to exist.
Anyway... essence of what I’m saying is, find a master asap!! Haha.

The word religion means "to bind". A religion is a political organisation with its main intent being power and authority over the masses and it very cunningly uses "God" to feed upon the human psyche and curiosity of knowing the unknown. I, a Hindu shall be bind by no one. No one shall have the authority over me except the Laws and rule of the society I am part of. I will set my own perimeters with my own observations. I technically am a Bhramin (history, last name, etc.). I may be wrong, but I thought that caste system is irrelevant during kali yuga, because we are all from the "lowest caste", because we act as if we are from the "lowest caste". I don't believe in the caste system. People learn how to behave and what to believe. The caste system enforces classism and limits marriage (sexual) partners. In addition, it reinforces the idea of not marrying (creating babies) with people outside of one's state (local area) and even with people speak different dialects of a common language. That is dangerous. There hasn't been a lot of news of the consequences of endogamy in India. Being born to a "Bhramin" family isn't necessarily good. I personally am at a greater than normal risk of developing a blood clotting disorder my dad has. Even simple things like eyesight can be impacted.

Christopher Nettles there is genetic and contextual evidence showing an injection from central asian into Northern India. Look at the relation to Zoroastrianism (indo-aryans) to Hinduism: it's a complete inversion. There is nothing wrong with saying this, maybe it has to do with the 20th Century idea of "aryan" and not the Persian term

That is stupid assertion. I am a Hindu and I find explanation given by a Westerners more down to earth, detached and unbiased than romanticized explanation given by some Hindu scholars. The core principles of Brahman are given in Brahm-Sutra which is in the form aphorisms to be interpreted therefore there is bound to be differences in interpretation. So cut that smugness.

The most amazing thing about Hinduism is there's a story in the ramayana about the monkey king building a bridge from India to Sri Lanka 100,000 years ago to fight a 7 headed king or something.. you can see this bridge on Google maps in satellite photos and there are even documentaries talking about it.. that is by far the most amazing connection between a religious book and archeology ever..

Here's how I look at it. Imagine a hundred pearls on a string. Can each pearl claim the string that is within it as its own, that that part of the string belongs to that pearl? No, it cannot. Really, the pearl belongs to the string, and even though it can slide back and forth on the string, it just cannot claim the string as its own. So in the same way, Brahman flows through us. But the part of the Supreme Brahman within us, is not our "Soul." It is the part of the Universe, Brahman, that our mind and body float on. If we believe in the five koshas or elements, there are : body layer, energy/praana/chi layer, then three layers of mind. It is my belief that when we die, the physical body is left behind to be burnt or decompose, but the remaining four layers are our "soul." The soul, can remain indefinitely in the ether if it wants to, or incarnate again as per its inclination. But there is no penalty/punishment in the next birth or Janma to pay back or whatever, just more and more to learn. Until the soul feels, or is so guided by the most advanced souls, that it does not need another Janma; it then attains Moksha, or liberation. One of The most important parts is "Guru - Sishya Paramparaa". The Upanishad's mention the flow of Knowledge though a series of Guru-Sishya, to make it clear that this knowledge is to be gained from a Guru! And, the Guru is not just a teacher! Lots of such non-translatables are there in Sanskrit. One example is, Soul != Aatman. Because Animals too have Aatman, but Animals do not have Soul(as per Bibilical belief). So please be carefful in using the terms. Better to use them as such without trying to map them to Biblical terms!
If you read the puranam you will understand that our religion is always there there is no beginning or end to hinduism. It is a mis conception that it has born so and so no.of years back. It has its own cycle. It evolves again itself .It was there before and it will be always there. That is why it is called sanatana dharma. Some times it gets endangered. But you accrued good knowledge.

Vedas Means "Knowledge".Spiritual Masters says through their Samadhi after the Tattav darshan the Vedas original Came from Sri Mukh or Mouth of Lord Vishnu.There r many aspects in Vedas which r impossible to understand for any sane man in one's lifetime, Without practicing any yogic processes all the Words of Vedas Seems only theory,for that we need a higher conciousness to understand those aspects which only possible through yogic Sadhana

Devashish Sonowal I just feel whoever wrote these vedas were going on their own experiences and interpretations. Technically in that form not everything is right or wrong just paved for those who want to follow it but there’s many roads. Though in truth you don’t really need vedas or any scripture to follow a path but I guess they work as maps if you’re lost. I don’t think there’s anything mystical about them just practical.
According to hinduism
The time is divided in to four parts that is called
1.sat yug (1600000+ years)
2.treta yug (1200000+ years)
3.dwapar yug (800000+ years)
4.kali yug (400000+ years)
All four yugs time span is 432000 years, present era is kaliyug that is started just 5500+ years ago when mahabharat war happened
Thus dwapar yug ended and kali yug was started.

the word hindu comes from sindhu/indu river which Greeks( not Latin) called indus. its not a Persian word. its very easy to pronounce Indu as hindu. Chinese still call us indu.

Excellent video. However, I might add the following for better understanding -
1. The word "Hindu" does not mean religion, it merely refers to the geographical connotation of the area beyond the Indus River. The actual "religion" in this case would be "Sanathana Dharma" which translates to the "eternal way of life". It is merely an ideology to seek the inner truth about oneself and is far away from being a religion. There are no authoritative commandments, single god, authoritative body like a church, no prophet etc.
2. The discussion being made in the video relates to the Advaita philosophy propounded by Sri Adi Shankaracharya. This idea talks about the oneness between the Atman and Brahman. However, there are various other ideas like Vishitadvaita and Dvaita which talk about Atman and Brahman being separate entities. So the idea spoken in the video is just one of many, however, it is the more widely accepted ideology.
3. The Aryan invasion theory has debunked and is not believed to be true. Merely a ruse by Britishers in India during colonisation.
Its an extremely good explanation of a an extremely difficult concept.
As regards the pronunciation of SHVETAKETU try to pronounce as SHWE TĂ KETU this will possibly help you with better pronunciation.
