    Hey man, you need to tune the shock pistons, then shock oil if you're bottoming out. Shock springs aren't the problem. Without tuning those first, and if you're just swapping to heavier springs, the car will actually have traction issues and bounce more. You can tell right away that your XRT isn't loading up on the ramp but instead it's too stiff, therefore you're missing traction on the jumps. Same with the landings - it's bouncing bro.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  Před 7 měsíci +3

      I don't doubt that my shock tuning isn't perfect. I don't really get into it too much as I'm just not that picky. I am using the M2C pistons though and they seem to work pretty well.
      The problem really wasn't bottoming out as with really big jumps all vehicles are going to bottom out. My problem was that it was bottoming out easily on small jumps just because the stock springs were getting overwhelmed by how much heavier the car is
      I am also running shock fluid that is twice as thick as stock so that will help somewhat.
      Again though I'm certainly no expert on suspension tuning. I'm actually pretty happy with how this is set up and honestly probably won't mess with it :-)

    Massive recommendation for you: ORANGE threadlock. I believe permatex is the only brand that makes it, they may have a patent on it. According to their marketing it’s 3x the strength of blue but still hand tool removable. If you slather it on a pinion it does need some power tool assist but not much. I’ll hit mine with a jet style lighter and can usually get it right out.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  Před 7 měsíci +1

      I actually have some orange and it does work well though I have found that in most RC applications it's really not necessary. As long as the threads are clean and you give it enough time to cure blue threadlocker works really well.
      I might take another look at that orange though!

    • @dylanwhite6539
      @dylanwhite6539 Před 7 měsíci +1

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@dylanwhite6539 Nice though I'm not certain that the colors of the pre-applied threadlocks will match the colors of the permatex ones. The pre-applied stuff comes from different companies and isn't really any standard for the colors on them. Not saying the orange pre-applied stuff isn't stronger it's just not necessarily stronger just because it's orange.

    I purchased the hobbywing Max 5 G2 with the 1100 G2.. fortunately you do not have to go through any of that to use that system. The downside is the can is the same size as the 800 KV.. so you really do need a rear brace on the motor and that takes up a lot of space. And you use the GMP ESC mount that goes in place of the radio box top... Other than that, I believe it was an easier setup than you had to go through. WFO 35/30 gearing mod 1.5

    I know the Traxxas 6533 TSM receiver is rated for 6v but I have four 6533 receivers that are running 7.4v and 8.4 volt. I found out by ordering a 6533 from eBay for 10$ that still worked but had the antenna cut short. I slowly raised the voltage on it up to 8.4v and I was surprised when it didn’t pop. I tested my transmitter the same way and it too can handle 8.4v I have a 6cell Traxxas NiMH instead of double As.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  Před 7 měsíci

      Whether or not a Traxxas receiver will survive at higher voltages is kind of a crap shoot. I think there's something inside that's right on the edge and it just depends on what batch that particular component came from. I've had receivers handle 7.4 volts, I've had them die immediately and I've had them handle it for a while and then die. It's just luck of the draw whether or not yours will

      Yep. If you properly prep the surface by cleaning them both with rubbing alcohol and use genuine VHB as well as give it 24 hours to set up after adhering it double side tape actually works very well. Most of the time when people have problems with double sided tape it's that they either don't prep the surface, use cheap tape or don't give it time to set up before using it.
