Indie Games Are Destroying AAA Games

Yeah so this video is a bit of a joke but also it's not technically wrong. Indie games are in fact destroying AAA games but I'm all for it because these games are pretty bad. Hollow Knight, Pizza Tower and Outer Wilds are far better than most of what comes out now. Xbox, Playstation and EA could really learn a lot from Indie games. So really what's the point of this video, I dunno the ironic aspect of it was funny to me. Just know I'd take Undertale and Dead Cells over any of these AAA games any day.

All the AAA games I play are at least 5+ years old. It's kind of wild.

There are still a handful of AAA games that are actually good and worth the money.
Case in point, RDR2, the Batman Arkham series, Ghost of Tsushima, Breath of The Wild/Tears of the Kingdom, and Elden Ring.
Of course, these are sadly exceptions instead of the standard.

You nailed it. There's no studio mandates on indie games to have live services, no push to replace all their employees with ESG compliant ones, people actually like what they do...
AA gaming space is also pretty great though. I'd take an AA title like Teyon's Robocop over any AAA game released in the last 5 years. Sure there's a little jank, but the love for the material is visible in every frame. I'd even call something like Helldivers AA that now the studios want to make AAA and ruin compeltely.

I’ve definitely considered it, but I don’t have a lot of playtime on the game yet. It hasn’t really clicked for me yet, but if/when it does, absolutely!
