The languages vowel and consonant sounds are structured different than english...
Because Goku has an unusual name, the pronouncer doesn't know how to pronounce it... 悟空 in Japanese.
Basically it's the same thing as someone being named Sean and someone thinking it's pronounced Seen instead of Shawn.
I remember in the german version they called him son goku and ref called him ukog nos.

the name joke is that as japanese uses like 3 writing systems symultaneously mixing them, goku's name was written in the chinese one which in japan can be read either as words those symbols represent or as syllabes those symbols represent. the announcer read goku's name the second way and he should read it the first way
it's kinda similar to whether you read the name "Asap Diy" either as it's spelled or as "Assoonaspossible Doityourself" but not really

And 空 can be read as "kuu", "sora", or "kara"
And since Goku has an unusual name, the announcer wouldn't necessarily know how to read it....
