I recover my refrigerant into the atmosphere. It's no different than if it leaked out anyways. 😜
How is the flushing done without having AC flushing equipment? I don't think my lines have anything in them so I'd rather replace the compressor myself than pay someone else, but I have not idea how to do it CHEAPLY. Any good vids that you know of? Thanks!

I usually buy 2 cans of charge. With the ac engaged I fill in one port while venting out the other port till I see a significant change in air gas consistently coming from the vented side. It's not perfect, but it seems to work pretty good. Never had issues doing it that way.

Yes, the Older Chevy Engine Compartment was Designed for easy Mechanical Work, these Newer Vehicles can sometimes be a Nightmare to reach a Trouble Component...

If your going to open the system there is no reason to vacuum the system 1st. In fact it does more damage by insuring you now have moisture In the inter system. Now you have to leve it on the vacuum pump for a minimum of a hour.
You are right about the high side service port. You look at it crosseyed and it's broken. So is it possible to vacuum and recharge this system using gauges and a pump without even connecting to the high side? I'd really like to avoid touching that high side port if I can avoid it.
That's one noisy compressor for brand new
I replaced mine with a rebuilt and it sounds like that after a year. I think my tech either used the wrong oil or didn’t fill it enough. This guy started the truck with the compressor dry. YIKES! I’ve found a seller on eBay that sells a Sanden replacement kit for my Tahoe. I have it and it’s a nice kit. Going in this week.
@@matthewgrills4135 I saw that too...not a good idea. That means the start up was metal on metal inside that compressor
Hey there, I’ve been to 3 stores trying to find the correct ac compressor. No store has the same connection on the back could you send the part number
I agree, you would think AC Delco parts would at least not be made in China.
What about the high pressure sensor do you not need to use it?
Question never done it before. Do I need to drain the lines before taking the bolt off that goes to the bracket for the lines? TIA

so my question is : since AC Delco might be better because of the name , it's still made in China. I have a 1998 suburban with the 7.4 and the AC Delco compressor is 450 and the Murray compressor is 240. Both have a 4 star rating so i think i'll go with the Murray. Anyone have experience with them. ? the original Delco lasted about 15 years and the used compressor that my friends at North Valley Automotive put in has lasted almost 10 years, but is just noisy. The ac accumulator is 60 so with my shop only charging me about 100 to evac the system and change out the compressor etc i just might goe with the murray ?
Do you know? Is the extended cab considered the "standard cab" and the 4 full size door models (which i rarely see of this gen) considered "crew cab" all the refernce sheets I'm finding say 2lbs of refridgerant for "standard cab" and 2.25lbs for "crew cab" No mention of extended cab. Thanks!
Standard cab is single cab and crew cab is four door for extended I believe you go off of standard cab

Changed mine out today, the kit came with new seals. But one is wayy thicker than the other. The original seals are the same thickness. Has any one come across this ?
Rick Bokern Yes I have seen that before I believe on some years they do that you might’ve got the wrong one I think you might be able to reuse your old seals to get by in a pinch
If the clutch locks up can i just unclip the electrical clip right above it so it wont engage and i can get it to a mechanic?
if the compressor locks up sometimes you can unplug the clutch but if the clutch locks up you and get a bypass belt or a/c bypass pulley on some cars and trucks
@@GrimmsAutoService This comment caught my attention because I was pretty certain the compressor pump was knocking hard, then locked completely up causing the engine to shut down hard at idle. I unplugged the 2 pin harness right behind the clutch so that myself or anyone else riding didn't accidentally press the AC button in the cab and cause more damage. It worked as far as no response from the AC button which was what I was hoping for. Then I plugged it back in to test that theory and I get no response from the AC light in the cab (and nothing happened when I pressed it). Think it blew a fuse/relay when pressing the button with harness unplugged? 98 Chevy K1500. Otherwise, great video! I will reference it again if I decide to try changing the compressor myself. Thanks!
