Walking with Parkinson's

  • At the VSimulators lab at the University of Exeter a major study is under way into a symptom of Parkinson’s called freezing of gait where people just stop and can't move forward. They're trying to develop a technique which will help people break out of a freeze. Rory Cellan-Jones went to the lab to take part in the trial which involved walking around a virtual home while wearing a VR headset and sensors which allowed his movements to be recorded by the lab's motion capture system .

      Yes. I also wish there more work done on stopping it in the first place... ie reducing pollution, banning toxic chemicals etc.

    Oh to find a way to stop the freezing (or the top half goes forward without the legs!) To be standing outside a shop door with someone politely waiting for you to clear the doorway - and nothing happens. It is humiliating.
