This is Kayla’s version of self care. Future Kayla is totally set up for an awesome reading year and less decision fatigue. Way to go 🥳
🙌🙌🙌
I never thought about it like this actually. Good point!
The queen has blessed us with another movie length video 👑
If you wanted a challenge type video based off of this then you could read one book from each rating of 6-10 and then compare their original score your final rating of the book? I have no idea how you would choose which ones to read though.
omg fun!!
that's a great idea!
Love this idea!
Maybe wrap them and write/put a sticky note with the rating and have Robbie and Liam choose?
This video was a 10/10 for intrigue 💗
😂🤗
24:44 my only editing error after 15 hours of reading, 3 hours of footage, and 5 hours of editing *would* come right before the clip talking about how tired I am. hahahahah
I think I like this way of being introduced to books better than I do reading a synopsis because it feels less... spoilery? I usually barely read what a book is about because I just want to know about the vibes and writing before I go in (almost) completely blind. I hope you do more of these in the future !
I truly mean this in the most complimentary, awestruck way possible…. but what the actual fuck
HOW are you this good at BookTube?!???!
Got some really sad and shocking news today, so an almost 1.5 hours of Kayla is much appreciated. Genuinely, you don't know how much you mean to me. 😭💓
Hope you're ok ❤
Xxx5t5t try x
I seriously love this. Currently Reading Podcast suggests a “reading flight” - like a beer flight, to pick a new book. They do like 5 books and read the first chapter to pick their next book. I think this might be considered the ultimate reading flight. Loved watching it and now I want to read my own TBR even more.
I absolutely love this concept! I'm tempted to do it for my own shelf.
🖤
No pressure but I think it might be fun to try this with a handful of closet books at a time just to see if there are any 10s or duds.
Uhhh I would love a series where Kayla picks 10 or so books from her closet, reads the first chapter and then reads the 3 with the highest intrigue.
You NEVER STOP surprising me with your innovative ideas!!💕
Ahhh Darius the Great is Not Okay is one of my favessss, one I feel like I’ll be rereading no matter how old I get. It starts slow but once you’re in Iran it gets REAL good
We are so weirdly synchronized sometimes. I just read the first paragraph of all of my unread books to choose my March TBR based on which ones intrigued me the most!
I did this in Feb! But with only about 5 books and just to pick my first read... because I don't have the patience for anymore than that and I'm a mood reader and wouldn't stick to a TBR anyway 🙃 mine ended up leading me to two 5*s in a row so I hope your March reading goes just as well!!
@@bethmw28 That’s awesome that you got two 5 stars, I guess the first impressions of those books were bang-on! Really hoping mine will be too, I have yet to have a 5 star read this year. 😑
@@TheThreeBookshelves these were my first 5 stars too! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you 😂🤞📚
Aw I love the idea of reading first paragraphs!
I’m still working my way through this video. 😅 And I have to LOL at how many of your books start with an ominous running-away scene, because SO MANY of mine do too! I never realized how much of a cliche that was until now. I will never start one of my own books that that!
Every single video I see "Such A Fun Age" sitting on your TBR shelf and I'm like KAYLA PLEASE READ IT OMG! ❤ I added several books to my tbr because of this!
This is such a smart way to do TBR: sharing your initial thoughts while they’re still completely fresh. I might borrow the idea!
i was so excited when i saw the title, this is such a fun project!
Looked so satisfying at the end to have a TBR shelf sorted by that ranking! 💕
Omg Kayla, I am so excited for this! Almost an hour and a half and this is such an incredibly creative concept!! Yay!
This is such a fun idea 💖
Gives you a feel of the books you want to read, but without actually spoiling anything even if you decide to not read it immediately.
I love your unique take on all your videos. Another great time. But what I really want to know is what is the TBR closet?
❤❤ Omg!! Kayla!! How?! What?! Why?! Yaass!! You are a freaking work horse!! Your dedication to your viewers and your love for reading is seriously top tier 😍😍
This is such an interesting concept! You keep making conceptual videos that make me want to approach my own reading differently! Seeing how you categorize and organize your books and reading is always just so fascinating.
❤ this was a great idea. Love how you set up the shelves!
💚 i'm honestly tempted to do this with my bookshelf. probably not all at once lol because that looked exhausting but maybe a little chunk at a time
Darius the Great is MY Dress Codes for Small Towns (in that, it's everything to me, the YA contemporary I saw myself in). It’s hard to see you part with it but I also gotta respect you have to do what's right for you 😭 hope it strikes a chord with whoever gets it next!
What a project! I would never attempt this! All those books calling even louder than before. 💛💚
You AMAZE me. As always. I adore your brain.
Went out to my birthday dinner with my husband and spent a decent amount of time explaining how creative you are. 😂 amazing
your creativity, dedication and originality know no bounds. as always, I loved this 💞
Love this idea! Makes me want to do the same with all my TBR books ❤
💜 I'm planning to pick up The Last Tale of the Flower Bride this week and I'm super excited! A cool challenge could be something like picking pairs to read - like you have to pick one 6 or 7 and then you can pick one 8-10 and maybe do a mini series throughout the year where you do a few videos picking 2 to 3 pairs per week/month/whatever!
The end was so satisfying, to see you classify the books as per your interest. 💜
Lala!!! I use to watch you religiously through my other channel! so happy you popped up on my recommended! I feel like you're aging backwards, you look so great.
We Have Always Been Here and Two Trees Make a Forest are two of my favourite memoirs. Some of Habib's memoir is hard to read but there's also a lot of growth and as I remember it defiant joy as she discovers herself (notably as an adult). Two Trees is just a beautiful nature/family history memoir - I was equally taken by her family's history and the stunning description's of Taiwan.
💙 starting books is my least favorite part of almost every reading experience so this looks like a nightmare but i love watching you do it lol, also now that it's done you are set up for an awesome reading year!
I’ve been meaning to whittle down my physical tbr and I feel like this is a great way to get rid of some books that just don’t interest me anymore! But also after watching this I’ve added some more books to my tbr… 😂💗
💜 I don't know if this is something you'd even want to do, but I think it could be really fun if you did a spoiler filled vlog rereading the Raven Cycle and finishing the Dreamer Trilogy, like you did with the Wayward Children series. Either way, this was a great video as always! Lots of books that I hadn't heard of that I'm interested in now.
How about a reading vlog like “reading outdoorsy books outdoors”? Sounds fun and you definitely have enough books for it 😄
🏔️ Love this 🌲
I watch you on half of my ten hour shift and have to say, you always entertain and inspire fun challenges.
💙💙 What an epic undertaking! Love a feature length vlog!
This is probably one of my favourite videos you’ve done. Love the format!
I loved the length of this video! And it was fun to see you go through your books and get reccies for my own reading goals. Thanks for sharing! 💜
❤ this is so exciting and I can’t wait to see how you use this concept going forward
Is it too late to write in a nomination for Best Picture at the Oscars bc I'd like to choose this video
I’m so impressed by this. I can barely manage sitting through the trailers before a movie - without wanting to switch what movie I’m supposed to watch. I’d definitely have given up and just kept reading once one of them caught my attention ! 😅
I did this to pick my first February read! 😂 picked a few I was excited to get to and read first chapters until there was one I just had to continue on with and refused to put down to try any others! I got 2 5* reads in a row because of it 👌
I’ve been watching your videos for a long time and those shelves have been there through it all. It was very satisfying to watch them slowly empty and for you to read every book and decide where it goes next! Totally something I would do 😊
You're a 1,000 out of 10 for doing this entire video! Loved it so much!❤
💙I love this way of prioritizing a TBR
Adore your videos. They are keeping me company for a round of sick days off from work. Now I know how I'll be spending a bit of that time -- reading the first chapter of the 10-12 books I have on my physical TBR! Thanks for the great idea :)
This would have taken me at least a month to do! 💕
This is such a great idea! Totally inspired to do this with my unread shelf as well!
💜 how could you not make it to the end!! Loved this!
you've brought up the TBR closet™️ enough times recently that i'm starting to feel...tingly
I always enjoy hearing your thoughts on books! Plus I love the longer videos! ❤️
This was really helpful in terms of which books I might be inspired to pick up now! Not that my own TBR is particularly short... 💜
💜 I enjoyed getting to see everything on your TBR shelf, I'm not as eagle-eyed as some viewers!
💜 Don't be discouraged by the beginning of I Who Have Never Known Men. It's a short and intense book. And so worth reading.
Love these longer videos. You have inspired me to review my TBR too 💜
❤ Very impressive! I would start with the 10 stars and gradually work my way down. Hopefully the high rating continues throughout the book.
I could never do this I am too intrigued by books. I would just sit down and start reading the one and not want to go onto the next book through the next Chapter. Super fun video! 💜
❤ clever idea and an inspiration for me to read the first chapters of my TBR!
Whatever what some may say, there is a place for long videos. Thank you Kayla. ❤
i hope we get like a part 2 where you read the top books and see if they are 5 stars 🙏🙏🙏🙏
This time it is good that all my books are packed up because I'm moving, cause I would do this experiment without a doubt and just abandon my current reads. It was a great watch whilst packing boxes and working out. Just what I needed.
💜 wow this was a great experiment, I have about 50+ book in my TBR and I’m tempted to do this but I don’t know if I have the courage and energy to do so! Great video!
my first thought when i saw this title is you have something planned 👀 you would never just read the first chapter of all your TBR without a plan… can’t wait to find out what’s going on haha
❤❤❤ - Kayla, You Are The Best! Love what you did here, cannot wait to hear more about this project XO
Very cool way to sort through your TBR shelf 💖
this is the first time i’ve clicked on one of your videos but i’m gonna like it before i start watching just bc i’m impressed of the amount of effort u had to put in to this video👏🏽
I know it was a ton of work but i loved this video! i have such a big tbr i don’t add to it very often these days and tend to steer clear of recommendation videos on booktube but this was fun bc the first chapters gave me more incentive to read than some synopses. It was also super exciting to see books im interested in get 10/10s.
Giiirl as usual I could never! Always amazed at your ideas! I hope you get to pick up some of those 10s soon. 💜
Loved this video, and you have me inspired to clean up my TBR by trying this. Always appreciate how much effort you put into all of your videos. 💓
this whole video was just so satisfying loved it 🧡
I am soooo excited to see how you feel about Drive Your Plow Over The Bones of The Dead! I read it in January for my local bookstore's book club and it was a WILD discussion. 💜
Dear Lord please grant me the strength not to add all of Kayla’s books to my TBR 🙏🏻
💜
Definitely added books to my TBR by watching this video 🤣
What a way to alleviate my anxiety! Thank you, Kayla, and yeah, some of the books weren't worth further reading (Trust me). ❤❤❤
I haven't finished the video yet, but as soon as I saw the title, I was like "Why haven't I done this??" I have 60 books on my TBR shelf, and I'm on a book no-buy until I clear this shelf, and it's been so overwhelming trying to figure out what to read. Thank you for the inspiration, Kayla, I'm going to try this out!
I highly recommend the tv short series for Nine Perfect Strangers. I’ve never been interested in picking up the book, but the series was fun. 💜
This is such a fun idea-I often do read a chapter for anywhere from 5-7 books when I can’t decide what I want to read next and see which one intrigued me most.
It was a lot of work doing the 100 books but now you are set up super well k owing which ones already intrigue you! 💛 📚
kayla i loved this but fr this is a CRAZY idea, you are so brave for us. mad respect
I love how I just have Goodreads up as your talking taking in all the recs.
@booksandlala is this a scam bot thing^^ lol just wanted to give u a heads up in case u want to report it.
You don’t know how much I needed to have a LaLa video! Waiting for my surgery to begin!
Oh gosh, good luck with your surgery my friend!!
So glad to see you pick up Leech! I first heard of it from your channel - I went in knowing virtually nothing and so the first chapter was super intriguing to me too. Hope you're able to get to it at some point this year, would love to see your thoughts!
💛inspired me to go through my shelves and figure out what I needed to prioritize and what I forgot I hadn’t read haha
❤ wow, what a great concept for a video and what a great way to find out what your most interest in reading the most!
❤ loved seeing you enjoy the beginning of Babel so much!! And as someone who’s read Winter Counts, I have to say I encourage the unhaul 😬
Now I have more books to add to my TBR because of this video. Thank you, Kayla 😂
I love this video concept! So innovative and so much fun. I definitely want to read Leech and Wrong Place Wrong Time this year ☺
i am so EXCITED you tried Drive Your Plow! i think you‘ll LOVE it - i definitely did :)
That mint sweater on day 3 is so cute and looks so cozy!
This video was honestly so satisfying to watch. I don’t know what it was! I just really enjoyed watching it. 💙
🖤Challenge idea: read one bottom shelf TBR book for every 2 top shelf TBR books, that way you can keep it somewhat even
This was great. Thank you Kayla, listening to your comments has helped me to find new reads. I am in a real reading slump and have a 340 book TBR and think I will try reading the first chapter of each, set them up in a preference reading list. Thanks so much…hope you continue to do this
Ok, this is a great idea. As someone who has a TBR of about 100 books thanks to Booktube, I probably won't attempt this myself, but thanks to Kayla, I can watch it!
I was just watching Katie's sprints, but instead of reading, I'll be watching this💜💜
This is a very late comment, but this is such a wonderful idea. And basically I'm doing the same thing, by grabbing samples from my GR TBR to my kindle and reading those. I'll do a big chunk at the beginning of the year, and I feel like overall my reading year will be better if I do this.
Doing this with my whole TBR seems like a huge undertaking but I think I might do it with all my BOTM books because I want to go through all those this year
So excited to see what you'll do with this in future videos 💙
