Chuck E. Cheese (formerly known as Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza Time Theatre, Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza and simply Chuck E. Cheese's) is an American children’s family entertainment center chain founded in 1977 by Atari's co-founder Nolan Bushnell. Headquartered in Irving, Texas, each location features arcade games, amusement rides and musical shows in addition to serving pizza and other food items; former mainstays included ball pits, crawl tubes, and animatronic shows. The chain's name is taken from its main character and mascot, Chuck E. Cheese. The first location opened as Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza Time Theatre in San Jose, California. It was the first family restaurant to integrate food with arcade games and animated entertainment

Never thought in a million years that I'd ever see the animatronics from Chuck E. Cheese's again in my lifetime. My primary thought while watching this video is that someone needs to save every single one in their entirety along with everything else that's on the stage and put it all in a museum. I'm almost tempted to take a long distance road trip and see this place while it's still vintage and then stick around while Chuck E. Cheese's is being gutted. Most of that memorabilia will more than likely end up in a dumpster. Great video!

That was my old Chuck E. Cheese in Reseda. But in the 80s it was dark inside and more arcade than restaurant. Had my birthday there once. I can remember that you could crawl under the stage. I do recall a major renovation making Chuck E. Cheese look bright and airy like in this video. Even though I was only eight or nine, it marked an end of a era losing a lot of it's cool factor.

Cheese I used to visit all the time as a kid in Webster, Texas. This was during their glory days in the early to mid 90's when these things ruled!!! The only thing missing in this video is the curtains that used to open and close before each show. Such fun times that are now GONE but always remembered in our memory! Seeing that animatronic show in this video took me back to times which were simpler and more innocent. Before we had cell phones and the Internet, we had a real life-like Chuck E. Cheese and his band entertaining us while we jammed tokens into FUN AMAZING arcade games for tickets to get cool quality prizes. I was an east coast, suburban patron of Chuck E Cheese (early-to-mid eighties -- and more early than mid -- hahah) and haven't been in one for decades, but what strikes me the most about this survey is the brightness of this facility. Ours was darkened and sort of carnivalesque in a macabre, early eighties "arcade" kind of way -- so un-brightly lighted. This example seems much "friendlier"/safer, not that I felt consciously concerned back in the day, etc. I very much enjoyed. (I also remember that the room all parents sat in looked like "the lost souls room" from Beetlejuice -- exhausted, miserable adults hunched over booth tables...)

The last time I went into CEC, the only animatronic left was Chuck. The 90’s remodel looked like this, but with that remodel, they got rid of the rooms and just had an open concept floor plan. I remember two rooms in the 80’s and it amazes me that it looked so much bigger as a kid. I don’t know how they fit what they did in there without having more space. They had the showroom and the what was it called? The cabaret room? It had the King in it.

@@80sLife By the way, if you didn't know many Chuck E. Cheese locations still have these same animatronics but Northridge is one of the last Pizza Time Theatre decorated locations.

I have great CEC memories but back in the 80's it was much darker with more rooms and there was an awesome creep factor in some of those rooms that had their own animatronics....RIP old skoo CEC

I really hope the relic museum in Van nuys gets wind of this and is able to negotiate some of the memorabilia.

I was just going to post that this Chuck E Cheese is giving me massive '90s vibes. I grew up in the '80s and went to many birthday parties at Chuck E Cheese over the years, and ours looked nothing like this! I remember ours being dark inside, and there was a small mouse-shaped door next to the regular door for kids to use. There was a disco room next to the stage, which was small and only lit up by a disco ball and strobe lights. The games and rides were very different. The games were pretty much Skee Ball, hoops, and arcade games, and I only remember a few rides, like a quarter merry-go-round, a car ride with Chuck E (similar to what was shown in this video, only with a classic-looking Chuck E), and this circular thing that you would sit in a seat and it would rotate you in a circle up and down.

Wow, this was great! Hopefully the manager will let you get some of the wall signs or anything they don't want.
