I love, love this woman's vocals! I was surprised to learn that she was inspired by another one of my favorite artists. That artist, I think would be right up your alley, depending on the song.

Angela Gossow was doing this back in 2000 with the band Arch Enemy. For me, she was the Queen of the scream. Not to diminish Tatiana Shmayluk, I was just into heavier stuff in those days. It is infact "blaze" - The lyric there are about fish scales shining. Kind of a metaphor for someone dressing themselves up for a role, making themselves look flashy as a defense mechanism to distract people away from the person's insecurities about themselves. If you look at older videos of Tatiana, she dressed down and people even said that she looked "boyish" or "butch" often because she wore men's clothing and didn't wear a lot of makeup and that kind of thing. At some point someone told her that they would sell more albums and get more attention if she dressed flashy and "more feminine", so she took that to the extreme (of course) and now she dresses in full costume often and uses very creative makeup so she turned what would have been taken as an insult to her style and did what was asked BUT on her own terms.

I’m sure someone else has already said this, but in case they haven’t, fun fact: just like Tool, the guys in Jinjer create the music and then give it all to Tatiana who does the lyrics at the end (usually only a week or two before they need to record).

"scale armor blaze" is like when a fish is startled or caught and the fisherman sees the flash (blaze) of light on scales
"virgin innocence" is about the fish in the water not knowing what happens in air-world or why not to go for bait
"one being brings life" is how a fish only reproduces, and also can be sustenance to the life of others
"another runs for death" is the fisherman zooming around the surface trying to harvest
the hooks and nets are alluring, and a way to go see what's up there
but it turns out "handsome butchers" (fishermen) just hack curious fish up there is nothing good up there
"emeralds are ripped away"... the green flashy gemlike scales... and then the narrator/fish is dead so there are no more words
or at least that's my take
Bonus trivia: She has little fishes in her lobe plugs, to extend the theme of everything fish related.

    My interpretation of the chorus..
First of all, there is confusion about one of the words in the first line of the chorus, and some people hear it one way, while others hear it differently. I'll explain both..
    1) Scale armour blaze. Virgin innocence. One being brings life, the other runs for death.
    2) Scale armour belies virgin innocence. One being brings life, the other runs for death.
The symbol for the astrological sign Pisces is two fish swimming in the opposite direction. This represents the inherent duality of personality within a Pisces.
    1) Scale armour blaze. - Fish scales are tough, and shine bright in sunlight. We can equate this to 1 side of a Pisces as people perceive them as strong. They shine bright and they have a tough armour that protects them, which is beneficial to life. "Virgin innocence" is duality. Being innocent makes one vulnerable to being taken advantage of and can lead to destruction. Hence, "one being brings life, the other runs for death."
    2) Scale armour belies virgin innocence - Same as above basically. Belies means(in this context) giving the wrong impression and/or disguise. "My scale armour disguises (by giving people the wrong impression) my virgin innocence. She is contradicting herself, she uses one side of acting tough(seeking life) to hide her broken innocence (which can lead to destruction).
In other words, she's allowing herself to take the hits that life throws at her so she can progress, but the world is a butcher and it will rip those emerald scales away, chopping up that innocence.
This is just my interpretation lol

@@SparkimusPrime Correct. If you listen to the way she says "life" - you can tell she says blaze. If she was saying "belies", that "i" vowel would stick out - instead you hear that hard "a" in blaze. Her annunciation through her growls is incredible - also the reason she opens her mouth so much when she growls compared to others - she wants her lyrics heard and understood.

No one seems to consider the title of the sing when reacting. The lyrics reference the duality of person. The yin and yang. Good and evil. Light and dark. The Pisces. It's also represented in the arrangement. The sweet siren singing, and the monster.

Great reaction. Pisces the twin fish symbol of the Zodiac this song goes back and forth from singing about the fish and comparing it to herself like how fish are skittish but then she says how she is skittish and the scales are like armour or a mask we put on when facing challenges life throw's at us so a lot of refrences between Pisces the symbol, Fish and there behavior and herself. That's what i've gathered unless there's a hidden meaning?.
