Together, George Jones and Tammy Wynette became the first power couple in country music. They were perfect in the public eye, but their tumultuous relationship was punctuated by George’s alcohol-fueled escapades and his paranoia over Tammy’s romantic past. She tried to keep the marriage from turning toxic, singing “Stand By Your Man,” her greatest hit, onstage with her husband every night.

I went to an estate sale at Waylons house in Brentwood after we lost him. Like me, Shooter was a boy scout. I bought a red Kelty tioga frame pack for $3.00 I think. If I had more money at the time I'd have some cool artifacts today. I've always wondered if Shooter would remember that old backpack?
