    6:35 I have the same charging problem with my ID.4 and charging with GreenLots here in the state of Iowa in the United States. It happened 3 times in the three weeks I've had my car. Once it happened next to a row of 8 Tesla superchargers. I was really questioning my choice of EV that day. Super frustrating using an app, prepaying for charging, and charging stations being limited in how many are available and few locations.

    Hey Bjorn, question on chargers not working. I have encountered this as well, and although I live in NL with plenty of alternatives, i typically do try to call the provider and have them take a look and if possible reset the charger. call cost me a few minutes and charging with 150kW after that is more interesting then 50kW (time wise, unless the reset doesnt help :) ). Just curious if you do this as well? or just go for alternatives to ensure you don't lose time at all?

    Hi Bjorn, yet another great video, that highlights the failings of the normal car EV charger network Vs the Tesla one.
    As none EV owner(but looking to change), this issue is really putting me off(i Live in the UK, and in a charging desolate area) and as such this is causing a lot of range/ charging issues, due to not being able to charge at home.
    What is your experience with the Tesla network failing to work?(yes i know they have numerous stalls usually). As i have not seen any video of yours where the Tesla charger has failed.
    ps. Keep up the great work, and pray the P7 comes to the UK- the wife wants the gull wing Lime green one...as do i :P

    Bjorn, I wanted to ask you a question concerning the charging port on my 2020 Tesla model 3. Can you check with Tesla in your area if you can buy a CCS charging port ? Let me know if they’d sell you one. I want to install one on my Tesla here in Ontario, Canada.

    • @winkcla
      @winkcla Před 3 lety +1

      This might not be plug and play. From what I've seen online there's a different charge controller in EU from US version.
      Also Europe uses CCS2 while North America uses CCS1, which is not the same plug! Not sure what you would do with CCS2 over there, unless you're planning to export the car?

    There is really a reliability problem with these chargers... This is putting so many people in doubt that could use an EV... And the haters get confirmed in their hate...
    And the next step is really what Tesla already did. NFC chip in the charger and car, and just plug/charge/pay without any need to use a mobile phone. I still can not understand why this is not more widespread.

    • @ndc5544p
      @ndc5544p Před 3 lety

      There's no NFC in the charger and in the car. Tesla basically hacked the Type2 protocol on the old Model S to send the necessary data to the charging network. The CCS protocol supports Plug&Charge, it just needs to be implemented by the charging stations and car manufacturers. AFAIK the Mercedes EQC has this feature, you configure your charging card and it automatically authenticates you at the charging station when you plug in.

    • @kwiks987
      @kwiks987 Před 3 lety

      Which is a strategy that will bite back. But…. As the owners of the chargers are not the car manufacturers (beside Tesla) this is also not under their control.

    • @Mr_Rasmussen
      @Mr_Rasmussen Před 3 lety

      Clever in Denmark has chip and have only had 1 or 2 issues when trying to charge from 22kw chargers.

    • @nordlands8798
      @nordlands8798 Před 3 lety

      These chargers are so new they are basically still in testing period. They have not yet got fault reporting working in the app, but on ishavsveien.no it is listed that the 175 kW charger in Manndalen / Samuelsberg is not working. In Norway at least chargers are generally not left out of order for any length of time, on a 1500 km trip 2 weeks ago I only experienced a glitchy charger for the second time in 2,5 years - I experienced gas pumps out of order more often with my old car.
