- Abandoned Hooters, Peerless Wallpaper, & More Monroeville, PA. Several businesses sit on this property which has been sold to become a grocery store. Or so that is according to rumor. Everything has been closed here for at least 4 or 5 years.

There is no obligation and I'm not asking you to! All proceeds go toward expenses involved in travelling to film for you guys. I do not make a profit. Thank you!
Another awesome video and great to see Richard and Kara putting their own touches on filming these properties. The best part is your funny commentary on things like there hasn't been a hoot at that Hooters in years. It's like the businesses closed one day and just left everything.
Surprised something hasn't been built on those plots for years. Maybe tear them down and put a grocery or something.
There is a busy Hooters by the Macy's on 34th street Manhattan, one in Atlantic City and a few in New Jersey and King of Prussia Mall (which has everything except a JC Penney which closed.) Wonder if business is down since Hooters was featured on Undercover Boss.
I only go to Hooters for the wings. I would go to the Smokers Paradise because I LOVE cigars and just sitting and smoking slow, hopefully with a good beer or black Russian or cognac or single malt. I can't smoke while on Cat sit duty and bring the smell in the home.
I was there back in 2003 on my way to the Monroeville mall
That sale sign in the windows front door says sale ends 2016 year date so I don't think peerless has been closed 10 years
Dude that owned that never paid his franchise fees to Hooters. He operated illegally for years. Thus the old POS Rax location.
I miss rax
1 Location for HOOTERS is $2.5 million for the name. Plus, fees.
Then, you are forced to open 1 every year. (additional fee of $1 million each, for name)
They can take control even after getting their $2.5 million, or millions more, just for the name.
lf they don't approve of your handling of their name, or open at least 6 in 6 years.
Greedy democrat millionaires. Just like the greedy NFL millionaires who spit on the USA.
A millionaire black NFL player is somehow 'oppressed' ? GTFO !!!
joseph watson all white supremacy supporters are baby boomer dinosaurs!! Especially in Pittsburgh!
This whole property was purchased by Lidl. Lidl is a competitor of Aldi originating in Germany. Lidl currently operates over 11,000 locations in Europe, Hong Kong, and the U.S. They were attempting to move into the Pittsburgh market a few years ago. But, evidently the deal did not happen.
Good thing you recorded this when you did Wallie, I drove by today and all those building are now totally fenced off! The City Buffet closed around '13 or '14, and afterwards there was a banner hanging up for awhile that said a new buffet was coming soon, but it never happened. God I miss the "Thai Chili Chicken" at the City Buffet!
I guess the orange Daisy Dukes the girls wore are so common now on normal girls that they're not scantily clad anymore, they're just in normal shorts, so no reason to ever go to one again!
I heard Hooters was teetering on the edge of Bankruptcy the two in my area were shuttered in late 2016.
There is an abandoned Don Pablo's in Monroeville. Not sure if you can get inside though.
That buffet at one point and I think most recently was called the Evergreen Chinese Buffet. I remember eating there quite a bit when I was younger.
I HATE AMERICAN STANDARD. Amazing.
I used to have a Hooters where I live in Syracuse New York. They were located at the carousel mall but now known as the megamall destiny USA. Hooters was turned into some Japanese Chinese place come sit down at the table and have them chop some food up in front of your face and throw it on your plate type restaurant very expensive. They also have a walk up window where you can walk up and take home some Chinese takeout food to take home with you. I never went to Hooters because I was a little boy at the time and no I have not gone into the Chinese Japanese chop up the food right in front of you at your table restaurant because they're very expensive because they put on a show chopping up the food for you right in front of your face
I think the word you're searching for is Bennihana. Since they were the first Asian "chop up the food right at your table" restaurants.
It was called Evergreen years ago .
Haha they sure did threw the kitchen sink :)
Interesting that those places moved to a new location. Do you know why?
i just finished filming this area! was able to document two buildings inside.... video coming soon... i live near this area
Nice. I filmed the outside walking around and story telling. Will be curious to see the inside.
@@WallieB26 should subscribe so you will be notified when it releases 😁
Before Smoker Friendly, that building housed Heathkit Electronics. They sold build-it-yourself electronics kits such as radios, TVs, etc.
Dad worked at the pepboys across the street from 1993 to 2014
For outsiders watching this the Mall from Dawn Of The Dead 1978
Is up the road from there and in 2008 this area prospered during the 2008 recession only one of *3* towns in America to do so
The only movie with zombies and riding motorcycles through a mall!
Peerless used to be in the Jonnet Plaza, then they moved to where you were filming. They are now up on Monroeville Blvd in the little mini mall almost across from the municipal building.
This has since been torn down after a fire was set
They though the bathroom sink and the bath water aswell.
Love the T-shirt man Let’s Go Pens
This is actually in Wilkins township. Monroeville begins on the other side of the bridge on William Penn Highway.
Did you know that there is a Circuit city across the street from the home depot right next to the abandoned Hooters
Michelle Sullivano demolished years ago....
That’s loooong gone man
"Abandon Hooters" someone's got to claim them 😂
Hey Wallie Hooter;s filed for chapter 11 Bankruptcy on November 26 2012 and then in again on October 16 2016 filed for a Chapter 7.
Subscribed to Richard and Kara, that actually in Wilkins Township, everything on that side of the bridge is.
Biggest crime is the lottery , but u pay for it ha.
I think the buffet building was Evergreen Chinese before City. I want to say the original opening was a nightclub which came after the demolition of the Holiday House but I cannot remember the name it opened under.
It was either "Club 22" or "Cafe 22"...
Great video!
Serious question. Are there any Hooters left on this side of PA? I haven't been to one since the Hooters in Altoona closed down
Closest one I know of is 3 or 4 hours away anymore
@@WallieB26 damn that's pretty far. I know they have one or two in Baltimore but that's it I guess. That really sucks
@@WallieB26 I just looked it up on their website and appearently the closest one is in Atlanta. I dont know how accurate that is but damn
WallieB26 You be cool as dr.watson for Halloween 😁
There's one in A.C New Jersey
Cool video man
Its a chinese restaurant
I think they tried to return their 'blue' sink to Home Depot, the assistant laughed them out of the store, then outside the store they offered a homeless guy $5 to please take the sink as they couldn't return home with it, he accepted but only made it as far as City Buffet and decided to off-load the sink and get himself $5 of wings. I think that may have happened ;)
A blue sink?? Who would buy such a thing, let alone put it in their home! Haha! ;)
Awesome, I love Hooters and their buffalo Shrimp, I’ve never seen one abandoned
Awesome video Wallie B!
looked this up on instant streetview..have to move the arrows around the corner to see actual building, its all boarded up in the image. Nov 2021 :P
Hi Wallie. Hope you are doing great.
That city buffet is retro gold🥇👌
Can you do the hhgregg in Wilkins township also this Hooters is Wilkins township
videokid703 the hhgregg is now becoming an autozone.
The Asian restaurant in the front was originally the Emerson's Steak House. It was once reported that the restaurant had cockroaches and ever since then, no restaurant could ever be a success in that building.
Great description of Lottery tickets there, Wallie. lol
What's Kara's problem with Hooters? Why was she giving the Owl the Finger? Hooters is the greatest Restaurant ever.
There was talk that all of those buildings are going to be torn down to make way for a Lidl's Grocery Store. They are a German food company who are also competitors of Aldi.
F'N 7!!!! GODDAMN IT!!! 🆒 VIDEO WALLIE!!!!!
By the places you did there was a building witch is gone now
because it got demolished and it was a
CIRCUIT CITY
Great video man!
Visited this Hooters en route to a Motörhead concert in 2008. Those were the days..
Update: All these buildings are still standing as of 7/28/19. Weeds are growing over at Peerless Wallpaper.
Nice find wallie.. Good video
I love hooters and love your channel
I ate their once. had the chicken wings with the spicy sauce. Really good..
Interesting video. Seems like there aren't any more Hooter's open anywhere. Thanks for filming.
Shame this area is completely empty abandoned.
Great video and funny too hahaha I was laughing my head off at your jokes but you were telling you are very funny I enjoy watching your videos have a great time with your friends I'll catch you in the next video your TG&Y store friend Brian Williams Guthrie Oklahoma take care stay awesome until next time have a wonderful day
I use to go to that Hooters when I worked at A&L. Any chance A&L went belly up and is now abandoned?
Come on, Kara! Give us a little Hooters dance!
I was just out there earlier in the month for Steel City Con. The land is now fenced off and the signage on the Peerless Wallpaper building was removed. Looks like they're going to tear all these buildings down soon if not already.
there's a abandoned Kmart in beckley wv
Sad looking Hooters
Can you do the Noodles and Company, which is in cross county shopping center, yonkers, new york
Green building with glass block was previously a few different Chinese buffets...
Thanks for making me laugh about hooters bringing out the kid in us love it
What appalling architecture -if it even deserves being called that. Depressing even if in use.
I heard the didn’t pay their franchise fees
never knew that was a hooters
Former (City Buffet):
Evergreen Chinese Restaurant
Have you ever showed a live movie theater
when i was a kid in like 97-98 hooters closed down in staten island new york was only open a short time I never understood why they closed, but i think now its a grocery store , maybe hooters isnt doing to good idk
Late to the party, but what the hell...
The buffet was once Evergreen Chinese restaurant. My mother worked briefly in Monroeville in the late 1990s, and the office ordered from Evergreen. Everyone who partook in Evergreen got a case of the drizzly shits or worse. Never went back.
I think I went to Hooters there once in 1998. I was immediately put off by the high prices for mediocre food. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich. The waitress asked if I wanted a tomato slice on the sandwich. I naively acquiesced. I saw on the check they charged me an extra dollar for the single tomato slice. Never went back.
I suspect the entire place is empty so the owner(s) of the lot can take a buyout from PennDOT. This is the area where the new Mon-Fayette Expressway will connect with Business Route 22. One proposal would condemn The Home Depot, another would condemn the old Computer City next to Home Depot, so it's reasonable this lot is doomed to demolition.
We have an abandoned hooters in Portland Oregon you could come check out
Cool video :)
This company has been hacking my last 10 cell phones in the past 3 years. They usee for advertising as an income. I'm a simple veteran who's homeless. And they make sure any company I work for they hack it's computers and company cellphones. ..one company inworked for they made the cell phone bill like 500 dollars one month
I tell you the guy whom started Hooters lived in loris, sc before he died a couple of years ago. I live in Conway -myrtle beach,sc
Wallie, big fan of your videos! I live in the area remember the City Buffet well as I would always go with my parents and went once or twice to Hooters after turning 21 to say I went there. A few months back, I stumbled onto this document which points to the grocery store rumor being true. This document is more about the construction at Penn Center East just west of there where they built Texas Roadhouse and retrofitted the Sears building into storage and smaller retail. There is a page with a map showing Lidl will use the site when they eventually expand into SW PA.

I promise I'm running out of options to stay positive
I like your old intro better
I see lots of Hooters all over the country. I'm surprised to see one closed. Maybe those health concious vegans in Ohio pushed them out of business?
Didn't watch your whole video but I found out that this and the home depot next door were home to an old tiki themed motel years ago in the Monroeville area's heyday. Lidl is coming soon.

An abandoned Hooters so sad lol!
Yeah cause last time I was there I watched the Habs Pens playoff game 2010
Halak was the man that year for MTL
Do Not Waste A Perfectly Good Sink That You Can Use. Hooters Sucks.
Hey waillie I never been to hooters before I hear the food is great and the watress are pretty
Looks like a Whataburger. Lol
outdated 1990s era dining concept. the rents are too high and profits too low.
Do you know any former McDonald’s that turned into another business?
I would just go inside
Not if it says no trespassing.

As long as the door is open
The Wilkins location of Peerless Wallpaper closed in late 2016.
The Wilkins location of Smoker Friendly closed in late 2016.
Those two stores moved to new locations; Smoker Friendly moved to Penn Hills and Peerless moved to Monroeville.
Stating "everything has been closed here for at least 4 to 5 years" is just an incorrect statement. A simple google search would yield you more correct facts. I typically like your videos, but now I doubt any of the information that you provide when you make blanket inaccurate statements such as this.
Relax. Everyone makes mistakes. You're taking this way too seriously. Just comment with the correction and enjoy the videos. They're entertaining nonetheless.
And u dont hear about Peerless no advertisement lol
What are your friend's last names are I tried to look them up on CZcams
Peerless wallpaper closed in late 2005 I think
What’s the end credit music?

Lol yal's lotter is more rigged than mine. the scratch off tickets where im at ar purposely designed to only give you up to $50 but yours you apperently have to pay the jackpot if you lose and if you win its a ticket. i feel bad. or was that a joke
The abandoned Hooters in York is now a Verizon store 😂
