- A lot piled on us when we moved back from Korea and a month later from moving into this house we lost my father in law. It’s been tough renovating the house while also dealing with unpacking our things and also tackling my father in laws belongings. Getting this room in order was so mentally taxing but I was able to tackle it!

I love the art setup for the child in the midst of the clutter. What a beautiful, realistic depiction of parenting and living a normal life not fully curated for the camera. It’s so refreshing to see someone just doing their best
You have motivated me, my garage is a toxic waste dump !!!!!!
Ugh I’m working on my garage also! 😣
I have been extremely overwhelmed and every time I go to start I just shut down. Thank you for sharing. I'm sorry to hear about your loss.
The hardest part is starting trust me ♥️ you got this
Exposure therapy. Takes courage . Grab one box or pile close the door and GO.
This exactly
Thanks for this video, after losing someone close it’s been hard to get motivated but finally we are getting declutterred & there’s a charity that picks up.
You and me too. 😢
bawling crying bc i realized how important mental health is to having a proper work/life/relationships/enjoyment/productive balance and i cant seem to get it without feeling a need to compromise one or more and then feeling like everything's else is falling apart for some reason as well.
was already teary eyed hearing about losing a loved one and then you say you "hope it helps someone struggling" i bawled cus i think alot of us are but arent able to admit it or even talk about it. thank you
Remember you are not alone! Dealing with depression anxiety and the meds that go with them is a 24/ 7/365 daily occurrence. It's okay to not do anything! I have a mess of paperwork dealing with taxes from when I was living in my car and all I could do was get through the day and earn enough money to keep going. 5 years later the task is still so daunting my anxiety goes so high just approaching the desk with all the stuff I need to go through. Well it's still too much. It's stopping me from doing other things more enjoyable because I feel like I don't deserve to do them when I have this obligation to deal with. We all have our own quirks and we have to find our own way to tweak ourselves into moving forward. Don't get yourself out on what you're not doing, remember it's okay if all you do that day is breathe! They even put it on the T-shirt!😊 Don't give up! Brain chemical imbalance is just a small slice of us it does not define us! Are emotions function on a higher level than others that are considered normal emotionally. I chose to take that information and not blame myself and guilt myself out for the way
Not only did you clean all this alone quite well I might add but as a mom you set up a temp table for your child to color and spend time .From a mom to a mom you’re doing great ❤
Thank you for this :)
I've been trying to help my momma get rid of stuff like this from our area, (she is a bit of a item hoarder). She's been very stressed, and I am trying to help her clear it out.
I totally understand. It’s so tough when it all piles up and you don’t know where to start. I literally just focused on whatever was in front of me and kept going. Eventually it started clearing out and I got in the grove. I hope you are able to help your mom. She’s so lucky to have you to help!
me too! youve got this❤
All is so sweet. I can't get my children to help me. So when you get done could you pop over to my house.
I'll pay you. ❤😊
that's me!!!!❤
@@theyorks Baby Steps. Don't work to exhaustion to sort gather. Use a timer. Work, Rest. Hydrate. Emotionally exhausting to near breakdown to actually dispose of a loved one's items. Small Tasks. One drawer, if not good enough to donate, seal in bag, Labled. All bags in boxes, sealed dated. May be easier to just toss an box later. Donate good things to an actual charity center or homeless shelter. Not a nameless, financially questionable Goodwill for example. See if family member want truly special momentos, but they dont need more clutter themselves! Gather things that might be sold, and if mom needs the money for her possible long-term care, great! Otherwise, when advertising the sale, note proceeds are earmarked for a special charity - to me that means, take the check to the women's shelter, or get their shopping list and buy needs. What does a specific school teacher need? Do what you can to keep an no-kill animal shelter going, reduce euthanizations, foster dogs ~~ Find a "Gramma" in a home that needs a family, and do little things as you can to make her life more meaningful... I, personally, do not put unaccounted for funds in church offering baskets, or donate to mega-charities. Does the Roof need repaired, Fine, designate funds that go to that task, no funny business, its a shame it had to be that way. The nuns have a specific project. Take them shopping for materials. The Senior Center needs safer, more comfortable chairs, Seniors need rides to appointments outside of their 5 mile limit (almost useless to "offer benefit.")
Awesome job. I had a room like that. Now it’s half way done. I work on it each day. I’m to the point that I enjoy working on it whereas before I didn’t even look at the room. I kept the door closed. I’m now excited to declutter everything nook and cranny in my home so I can live in peace and not feel consumed by stuff because that’s all it is, is stuff. Life is worth more than stuff.
Decluttering and making decisions is certainly like a muscle you strengthen over time! I used to be bad at it and it'd overwhelm me but doing a little bit each day helps so much with confidence and... actually getting it done haha
Its so sweet that u still care for ur father in laws staff. U r a good soul.
Definitely motivating me to clean this room of mine and reorganize, downsize and make it look fun. ❤
just think of the mental clarity afterwards 😍
I relate to this because I lost my mom last year, we lived together and I am still decluttering. I made a vlog series about it because until it happens to you (especially if they die young) it can be so overwhelming!
This was so satisfying to watch. Thank you for sharing and for the motivation to just start with one piece.
I lost my mom and dad within two years and also had to combine loads into my little apt. Thank you for sharing 💜
I’m sorry you have the loss of your parents to process as well as declutter… I lost my mom and kept a lot of items, antiques, paperwork, sentimental things…over time I asked myself what is more important out of 3 items and kept 1, then I have a storage space bc I moved from my apartment with lots of closet space to a room with barely any closet so I’m narrowing down again but I still have things like a biscotti jar or crystal cake stand or a box of my mother’s school memorabilia from 1940’s and I sometimes can’t look at it bc of the memories, so it’s been a process for me since 2014-2015 and I’m only halfway done. I just can’t leave 200 photo albums to my son when I know he’s got his own house/memories he cherishes from my parents that are far more important than these boxes I can’t let go of. I hope you continue to heal and hold onto those memories and special things that bring you joy.❤
That is so difficult. My heart goes out to you!
Yes. I have empty nest and a smaller home and had to move and now trying to sort everything. It's overwhelming thank you x
You got this 👏
@@theyorksit's a slow process. I am getting there but it takes so much time. And you have to work and do normal day to day stuff. Really happy to know I am not the only one going through it. I want to sell stuff and that takes time. 🙏💌
@@theyorksthank you so much 💓
We had a small room that was a dumping place for everything that had no space. I finally cleared it out and made it into a playroom for my kid, thanks to this video!
That’s amazing! So motivating to hear 🤩
Watching already clean homes be cleaned is discouraging. THIS is motivating! ❤️
Thank you! It’s doable. One task at a time ☝️
I’m always motivated to tidying my room 😊
I’m sorry for your Loss. It never gets easier. Sending hugs for the fact that your video hugged me :)
Thank you 🥹
Girrrrl,
We All have clutter.
I'm a bit overwhelmed rn so I sat down & searched "Organizing Clutter". See? Helpful. 🙂

Im happy this gave you motivation. The hardest part is starting. You got this! 👍
Watching this as I declutter my room to make a sewing space. Thank you for the motivation 🙏 sorry about your father in law 😢💐
You got this! 🫵🏼 cleaning out clutter to make room for something you love will be so rewarding ♥️
I am so sorry about losing your father-in-law. Thank you for sharing. Know this, nothing is new under the sun (it's in Ecclesiastics, the Bible). I want to help my sweetheart. I really want to help. Im doing mine first. I don't have a lot but i have a lot of things. Thanks, thanks and thanks.❤
Yesss this definitely helps me ❤😊feel better with sturgeling after seizures every other week and after 2 funerals 😶🌫️😶🌫️can't wait to start redecorating all over the 🏠 too Again.
Thank you! You did inspire me. I’ve been very ill and have chronic health conditions that keep me from cleaning and it’s gotten out of hand. I felt overwhelmed and search CZcams for inspiration and ideas on how to organize and where to start. You helped me figure out how to start. So thank you. And I am sorry for you and your family’s loss.
I was trying to hear that end part...after "just find a home for it"...😮😂😂😂😂
Thanks for sharing, I'm moving tomorrow and started crying by only seeing the closet. This motivated me, thanks ❤
It’s so overwhelming! One task at a time. You got this!
Proud of you. You are motivating others to do the same.
This has given me quite a bit of motivation. I think I'll finally be able to knock this out if I create homes for these things finally. And I know how I'm going to do it now.
You got this! The hardest part is starting
I am so proud of you! Thank you for inspiring me!
Dang gurlllll you made a big improvement.

Same here, We lost our Mama GiGi😢 (Hubby's mom) and its been beyond difficult... lacking motivation on touching anything really... She passed Dec 13th 2022 and the Tree she put up on the 12th, still stands in livingroom w/ the gifts underneath that we bought her last yr..... De-cluttering our home to move was the basis of my search... Thanks you for revealing your struggles as It gave us folks a chance to relate on many levels💭♥️🙏
Great vid, the joy, peace of mind, sense of success that comes with decluttering is beyond what words can express 👍🏾💪🏾🙏🏽🫶🏾
After I lost my teenage son (16yrs in 2019) I had his room almost looking like that… we bought another house and I have an empty room with all of his things.. everyone tells me to get rid of his things but none of them know how I feel… Your video push’s me a little to give it a start at least to reorganize it…
Lost my mil in 2020 two weeks later my dad passed. Were still going through things. It's hard no lie. But getting started was the hardest part. Wishing you all the best and a great new year
Thanks for sharing, you encouraged so many of us❤❤ to
I’m sorry for your loss 😢
Yes thank you 🙏🏽❤️❤️
Thank you I can't seem to get started but you have more stuff so now I know I can do it ❤❤❤
You did a great job!
Good work momma❤

Oh I feel this! I have 2 rooms in my house plum full bc we lost my mother in law unexpectedly so we got her stuff, and a month later we lost my husband's grandmother so we got some of her stuff, and we just lost my grandpa so his stuff too. I get motivated open the door look at it get completely overwhelmed and close the door and walk away. Thank you for sharing this and showing me that I got this!
Im so sorry for your loss😢
Thank you so much!!!!❤❤❤
I have a room and a half like that by cleaning out the attic...some of it just didn't make it to the garage. 😊
Thanks for posting, I'm going through the same thing
Hardest part is beginning and getting going. Once you start inching your way around it’s just a matter of going through the items and putting them in the categories. You got this!
Thank you love ❤️ I'm up working now!!! Declutter time!!!
Thank you. This helps a lot. ❤
Wow, Girl. So sorry for your loss and a move on top of it!! I get it. A lot to deal with it. Thanks for sharing your story and energy to get us all going and moving on!! ❤️

Thank you so much!!!😊 I have not been motivated enough to get unwanted stuff out of my room! And Christmas has passed by so now I don’t have storage for that. But you have motivated my to get up and quit being a couch potato 🥔 😊 again… thank you so much❤
Found this video looking for advice and encouragement to clean our home after loosing my father. ❤ thank you for posting
*losing 😊
You have definitely motivated me! Thanks for the video and for what you did. ❤ God bless you and your family
So glad this could help. We all need that little push to keep going. You got this!
This is where I’m at right now. Trying to pick up after leaving it a mess for over a year. I feel like I take one step forward two steps back 😢
Very motivating, my families’ room looks pretty similar. I’m trying to do it while they are out.
I lost my Mum to Covid in July 2021 and haven't touched any of her things. I wasn't in the right headspace to tackle all the boxes and clothes. Thank you for the video, I'll be making a start on this today now that I've got a few days off work.
You did a GREAT JOB...youre absolutely RIGHT you have to just get STARTED....I lost of love one and all his stuff is in my Garage with mine...and i go thru one bag at a time its getting there slowly
Yes 🙌 slowly but surely one small task at a time ♥️
🤯😂 I am motivated to make a lot of my basement disappear tonight. Or at least get a massive consignment donate pile ready to go out the door this week. I just don't want stuff anymore unless it's very simple french country vibes.
Bless. Hope your family is working through bereavement. In a similar situation. Thanks for setting a standard
Within 3-1/2 years, I moved to 5 states: TX AL FL CA LA. I just gave my notice this week. I only keep my favorites, and I get rid of everything that can replaced for less than $20 or within 20 Minutes at Amazon.
If I have 2 of anything, I get rid of the larger items, bec I only keep what fits in my 12 large Totes:
1 Art supplies
2 Bathroom/Laundry
3 Blankets, Pillows
4 Cat food litter toy
5 Clothes Fall, Winter,
6 & Spring, Summer
7 Cooking, Appliances
8 Dine, Place Settings
9 Docs, Books, Pics
10 Office/Study
11 Pantry
12 Work Tools
My condolences to you, doing a room makeover also, wish you all the best ! 🙏🏻
Thank you ♥️ good luck with your room!
You're helping me. Thank you ❤
I'm so glad! ♥️
Thank you x
Yes thank u for sharing
Good job!🤟😎
Inspiration. Thanks
Thank you❣️
I’ve decluttered multiple times and I don’t have a single item I regretted just donating. I don’t remember much of what I’ve given away. I need to do another round as well
My condolences. You should be proud, you did it ALONE.
So proud! We’ve come a long way during a time we felt there was no way it was going to get better
I’m in the thick of it right now and thinking abt leaving and never coming back 😂
thank you this helped a lot
Very motivating to me, thank you for sharing! I get so paralyzed just looking at all I need to tackle. Slow and steady and I'll get there.
Slow and steady one thing at a time for sure
I am so inspired I love your vulnerability and realness. You go girl !!!
great job .
Thank u for posting this bcz I had a similar situation accept I lost mom dad and sister in 6 months. It was a while ago so it's time to begin. Thanks again
It’s tough to navigate 😔 it’s something that takes time to tackle but you will feel that mental and physical clutter slowly get put in place by starting small ♥️
How did you achieve this in one day!🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️😭😭 I’m so sick of my house. Every room looks like this. I’m so overwhelmed.
I loooove organized things
Same!!!!!
Thank you so much
Great. Thank you.
🙏 thank you
Meeeeee !!!!!! ❤❤❤❤ thank you
I’ve had a room like this in every house I have lived in the past 5 years. I just cannot seem to find the organization systems my house need 😅
Thank you this is helpful.
I ❤ organizing
Thank you
Amazing❤
Thank you for posting I’m literally back in the closet (gay here) emptying it out but I don’t know where to start so I’m sitting here wondering what to do so thank you for your video!!!!
This is what our spare room looks like, I’m trying to figure out how to sort when I have attachments to a lot of the things in there
That's me need to organize 3 rooms, always feeling overwhelmed to look at clutter
That's my house right now
It’s definitely overwhelming 😔 one day at a time small tasks lead to big results
