Omfg. Pete wrote this song to Patrick promising he'll never attempt suicide again and he's thanking him for always being there. Also Pete's sitting there because they were on a radio show. Ffs.
Thank you for shedding light on what this song represents. I never knew that was the reason this song was written. I love singing it thought because of of the beat and soul behind it.

I just realized the significance of the lyric "they say the captain goes down with the ship". In the music video y'know how Pete wasn't in it, because of the bad CGI, well someone here on CZcams has the version with Pete in it uploaded. And when Pete appears he's the only one left on the sinking ship and he salutes Patrick/his recused crew. So maybe that line is about self doubt Pete had. Where he thought he might have ruined the band or cause something bad to happen to the band because of him (I think Pete is a very important part of FOB). I may be reading way to much into this but yeah just my thoughts.

wow, you can see the power there is behind this one. I know the story how Pete wrote it for Patrick and they both made promises to each other. I went through the same thing with my little big cousin. Every time we hear this song, we just end up singing along to it together. :') Love this so much!!!

Whoa everybody needs to calm down. I'm pretty sure Pete is there for moral support. After all Patrick used to have "troubled thoughts and a self esteem to match". Of course it would be nice to have his friend there as moral support. Also Pete isn't useless, he writes most of the lyrics, which is incredibly important. And Pete can't be a total asshole; he wrote this song for Patrick. Or maybe it was another friend. Either way it was an extremely nice thing to do.
