If Apple only did ONE thing to the iPad - what should it be, and why?
Oled on the mini
Slightly Larger, Brighter, Better screen. Three things wrapped up into one.
iPad laptop. Essentially a MacBook Air with a touchscreen and running IOS. I hardly ever remove my iPad Pro from the Magic Keyboard, its heavy.
M3, 120 Hz OLED, more memory / storage & NON-FOLDABLE
@@DeeCee-nb6ev you can already buy this, it's called the iPad Air.
If they made an iPad mini with M-series chip (which I honestly do not expect they will ever do),. but if they did,. it would be an immediate buy for me. Especially if the M-series chip brings the feature of treating external screens like independent monitors. It would be great for so many things.
it's going to be a A17 i'm guessing. Which was better than initially predicted
Personally I don’t think they’d use M series chip since they take much more power than the current 3nm iPhone chips. Mini won’t have big enough battery
I’m waiting on the iPad mini gen 7 release. I’ll buy it day 1. I want it for travel primarily. I use my iPad Pro 12.7 and it’s just too big for my backpack for plane travel.

You'd have to be stupid to take photos or video on your own in that area. Btw, you would only mainly get that clarity with a Go Pro while moving around or similar. Otherwise, the picture would stutter around.

I have the 13 mini and iPad mini6. Both compliment each other. When I want to browse the web, CZcams, or notes, I just pull out the iPad mini.

I had this but upgraded to the 15 pro. I miss the 13 mini.
My iPad is frankly my most favourite piece of tech I have, I use it from entertainment, to do online courses needed for work. I’d say it’s more important to me than my iPhone

I have been holding out for an iPad mini refresh for a travel device for a long time. Hopefully we get a new iPad Mini soon.
They should make iPad mini pro - with an iPhone level camera. Making pictures with bigger screen is great, and mini size makes it just right size. Add some Pro features with that and fix stage manager and we have an amazing device you could take with you, use, plug in to any screen or usb hub and have a powerhouse in a pocket.
I have an 11“ iPad Pro M2 and it is indispensable for me, because I use it for taking notes and organizing my subjects in high school. Goodnotes 6 in combination makes this device so useful for me, and I know an iPad Air could do this with ease, too, but I consider myself as a tech nerd and really fell in love with 120hz :). Great device but I wish ms office were the full function version 🥴…
Months ago I switched to an IPad Air and I have found this to be the perfect sweat spot. Super portable and then I can doc and use with external monitor.
iPad mini for sure. I'm still back on a mini 5. The battery life is getting weak. I use it approx. 6 or 7 hours a day so a mini 7 with a bigger battery and a faster chip would be a welcome upgrade.

I was going to buy the Mini 6, then decided on a refurbished 2018 Pro 11. I’m loving this tablet so much! They were both $400. I feel for that kind of money, I’d get the Pro. 😎👍
Considering that they were the same price, the iPad Pro was the better choice. I still have my 2018 iPad Pro 12.9” with 512 GB of memory and it does everything I want it to do. I am thinking about getting an iPad mini so I can read Kindle books in color on a more convenient screen size. However, I haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I’m waiting to see what the new iPad mini has going for it and to see how much it will cost.

I use my iPad mini 6 most of the day and genuinely love it! I don’t leave the house without it because of my digital planning. It’s an amazing sidekick!

I have an iPad Pro I’ve been making my comics on for a year, I’m considering the iPad mini again because I loved it so much. My favourite device period. But may not have enough space for drawing as much as I do

Unfortunately,the iPad mini 7 is not rumoured to be coming in March with the other iPads.It’s expected to be September/October which is a bummer because I am waiting for it.

Interested to know what your favourite note app is Mark? Also, I have an 11” pro and a mini 6. I use the 11” at home and the mini when out. Think that is the best combination. I use them both when flying my plane and never had a problem with either. V happy and not sure I would upgrade yet.

I have an iPad Pro 11” 2018 which I still love & use use for all my art creation & media consumption. But I use it exclusively at home, so it’s usually plugged in. That battery is still fine. But I also have an iPad mini 5 that I use when I travel. It’s battery is used a lot and has suffered over the years. I want to upgrade my mini before my ipad pro.
The one reason my iPad became just a second screen for my MacBook is that there is no universal, fast and reliable text extraction and text pasting (with option for source or target style) option. Like text sniper on Mac.
Sure with Keyboard and mouse on the iPad it’s better but at this point why not using the MacBook.
Selecting Text with touch on websites or other Apps is time consuming and often frustrating. Pasting it is similarly tedious. It just takes to long and makes some of my workflows take twice as long.

Long-time iPad mini + iPhone mini user here. I'm looking to trade both in for a folding Android phone soon. It's a shame Apple aren't offering a competing device but like, I totally get why.

I guess we'll see if the iPad mini 7 comes out, and with some of those improvements. I have an iPad Air 4 and it's getting towards time to upgrade.
I have an 11" iPad Pro, so I'm good for a long time there. However, while I love my iPad Mini 6, I do feel like it's the iPad with the most room for improvement. The screen has never been great and tap response on it has always been subpar. Performance is also well behind the rest of the iPad lineup now. If they released a new Mini with OLED and the small annoyances of the Mini 6 addressed, I would definitely pick one up.
More local storage by default needs to be high on the list of requirements.. I have the Mini and my daughter got an iPad the same year. We both tried to install a game she wanted to play and it would not install unless we removed every other app. When it came time to patch the iPad we had to uninstall the game to get enough room for the update.
ProMotion on the iPad Mini with an updated chip set (don’t care about the camera placement, I mostly use in portrait). I also fear a marketing issue with the mini. The Mini was my first ever iPad - I adore it. It saw me through uni. It saw me through parenthood. It’s my e-reader. It was always spec’d the same as the Air. My kids have always had the basic iPad. I see the iPad mini as the media consumption and note-taking device for the adult market. Those with the Mac, iPad Pro, iPhone pro… will also usually have an iPad mini. But F..k that 60 Refresh rate that prevented me from upgrading my Gen 5 iPad mini to the Gen 6. 🙏 for the Mini 7…
@MarkEllisReviews Mark I have just this weekend dropped a cup of coffee on my BELOVED ipad mini 6 .and cracked the screen . . I absolutely love it use it for really only general email videos and the usual . . . they tell me it will be around £300 to put a new screen on . . I have an iphone 13 mini which I do love but am lusting after a 15 😮💨 . . . or a plus ??? would this compensate me for a new mini or should I wait for a new mini . . my ipad is usable but small pieces of glass are cracking from the side . . . sorry to bother but I really do use my mini 6 every single day and love its versatility for news and magazines and stuff but do not know what to do. . . . should I just go refurb mini 😐
I have a 5th gen iPad Pro 12.9. It's great but I find it rather heavy. If having a super-size iPad Air meant it was noticeably lighter I'd be very interested.
I really, really want a new iPad mini and I too, like you said in the video, really want a Magic Keyboard with it as well!

I love the iPad mini 6. I sold mine a while back and I've missed it every day since. I've been thinking about getting a new one but I'm trying to hold out for the 7; I definitely hope they put some kind of M chip in it; I have the M1 iPad Pro 11 and I just want that kind of power in my ultra portable iPad mini. And I desperately want a magic keyboard. I know it will be small, but I don't care. An M chip and a keyboard would make the iPad mini my go-to device.
If a new iPad mini is launched, it'll be the next Apple item that I buy, however I just want it to solve the jelly screen and have a higher base model storage. However, as someone who touch-types, I can't see the point of an iPad mini specific keyboard as it would just be too small (and I don't have particularly fat fingers)... but then I'm biased as I'd not want to go back to two finger typing.

I want a proper external display support for the iPad mini, none of that screen duplication with black bars nonsense that we got today, I want the full MacBook style external display support. Also, I hope we get the option of speccing more than 256 GB of storage on the mini, 1 Tb would bee nice.
I want an iPad Mini PRO. All the upgrades you mentioned plus the cameras from the iPhone Pro Max. Yeah, I'll pay more, but let's not go crazy.

I want the A17 Pro or depending on if the mini releases later in 2024, giving it the full A18 bionic even. That will be what sells me on it.

The original version of paperlike did wear down the tip eventually. The newest version is less textured so it shouldn’t be as bad. For artists the trade off having to replace the tips every couple years is worth it

At work my iPad mini is my backup brain. I use custom PDF templates I made in Goodnotes and take notes on my 25 or more 'areas of responsibility' through my shift. It has saved me from a 'boss talk' more than a few times. I sure hope Mr. Cook doesn't 'woodshed' the iPad mini! It's just too darn useful. And cute, to be honest!
I run my entire business on an iPad mini. It’s with me all the time, it’s fantastic! And I do have both a 12.9 ipad and a MacBook. They are heavy and I never use them.
And I use LogicPro on it all the time and connect a midi keyboard to it. I love my mini!
I’m watching this on my ipad mini 2 think it came out in 2011....still works but battery life is not great...was close to buying ipad mini 6 but heard a new on is coming...I would like m1 chip at a minimum fix to the jelly scrolling issue and base 64gb storage
The iPad mini 6 has been my favourite Apple device in many, many years. In my opinion the biggest improvement it needs isn't hardware related: it's software. iPad OS is still way too limited, even on the Pro models. However, any new tech the 7th gen might bring to the table is great news. I just hope it doesn't have the same fate as the iPhone mini... 😔

I still have my iPad Mini 5 and I am loving it. It's (near as makes no difference) as fast as the 6 and it holds up nicely.
I just bought a Starlight Mini 6 256GB on clearance for $399+tax (pretty good deal), but i am not opening the box (I have 90 days to return it) until I know if I rather spring for the 7 instead. The March/April Apple Event can't get here soon enough.

My ipad mini is a must when out and about,what i would like is an M chip dont think so and oled screen wont happen but i can hope
I want a super sized iPad Air. With the selfie camera in the correct spot like the the iPad 10th gen. I could go with at least 512gb of storage on it. A really nice display and maybe the M2 chip. I don’t do anything that requires the M3.
I will be upgrading my 2018 11’ iPad Pro to one of the oled iPad Pros unless the price increase is crazy. If so i may go with a 12.9 M2 pro. I would like the iPad mini get 120hz. I had the 5 I loved it but the darn charge port went up then I noticed they made a 6 & that’s what I’m on now. All I really want in a mini with a bad ass OLED! That’s why I’m probably getting the m3 pro for the screen but the mini is perfect size for everything.

I got an 11” pro in 2020, and immediately regretted the decision when the mini 6 came out
I really liked my IPad Mini 2. I think it took a generation or two for Apple to make any important upgrades so it was a bargain when I bought it and it was supported for many years. Sadly, newer ones have priced me out.
As for Barcelona, beautiful city but I don't think I'd wander those streets while talking into an expensive electronic gadget!
The iPad mini 2 with cellular was the best piece of tech I've owned. I don't like the iPad Pro I bought last year and will sell it for an air and Hopefully a new mini. OK Apple, make the dang iPad OS better.

I have an iPad Mini 5 and a the latest iPad Air. The Mini gets used the most. The air was almost a waste of money.
I wish it had an OLED for reading books comfortably. The fonts are sharper on the iPhone than on the iPads

I just need the pros to come with there option of dual booting Mac OS. They’re basically MBAs. No fans, and an M chip. It’s hard looking at a $1500ish (12.9 pro, Logitech keyboard case, pencil 2) setup and not be mad I can’t run Unity, or other things a normal laptop could do. But then even at that price it’d still only be a decent spec of a MBA
I'd love to see an iPad pro mini or mini pro. Give it a nice bright OLED pro motion 120Hz HDR display and it would be an instant buy for me.

iPad mini: 120hz screen with an A17 and I'd be very happy. Perhaps slightly smaller bezels and an inch larger.
the ONLY thing i want from the ipad mini is to sort out the FONT SCALING. it has been the only thing bugging me about it which was why i returned it. it is too small. now i know some will come and say no it's perfectly fine. great for you and your wonderful eyesight. mine isn't the best it once was, and if you compare the ipad mini to an iphone, the ipad mini actually has smaller fonts.
there was a creator who talked about this before, and i totally agree with him. i can understand why not everyone mentions this because again, had my eyesight been the way it was before, i would never have problems with it. in fact, i would probably like the fact it's small. Apple, sort out your font scaling on the ipad mini!
An iPad mini with a better display, better battery life and 1TB plus storage. Mac OS desktop mode or Apple TV mode when docked using MagSafe would be an awesome bonus.
Have always loved and still have my original iPad mini. It even still works and has some of my old favorite and unavailable games: Flappybird and Zuma’s Revenge! Unsure where you are. Planning on doing any ghost hunting? 👻
And, on the iPad mini, make the back flat. No camera bump needed.

RE: iPad on Vision Pro - aren’t many of the apps on the Vision Pro already iPad apps?
Instead of copying the screen (which I’d like as well, ditto with my phone), I think a handoff situation might be more likely, since again, it seems VisionOS runs iPad apps (and is probably just a modified iPadOS).
Some are indeed compatible. I still want that screen/app sharing, though!
On yes please - a new mini with beefed up specs and a keyboard would be excellent… the 6 is never far from my side…. Brilliant device, all i missed is a keyboard
